Chapter 216: Chapter 216: The Street Urchin Becomes Famous Again
Teacher Xiaochen would call on her husband to answer questions in every class.
Under her relentless supervision, Yu Jingting’s English level was among the top few in the class.
He had just thrown out a sentence like "watch the mail, you’re dead skin, I’ll strip you bare".
Seeing Suizi "not paying attention", Yu Jingting’s temper flared up, ready to unleash a full-blown assault on her, only to feel a softness in his arms.
The sweet and soft, plump woman was pressing against him.
She wrapped the two of them in a blanket, nestled in his arms, encircling his waist with her arms, and nuzzling her face against his chest.
"Hey, hey, hey, what are you doing!"
This unexpected embrace had him caught off guard, unsure of how to react, and he didn’t know where to put his hands.
"You’re so handsome," she rubbed her face against his chest, like a cat.
"Don’t think buttering me up will get you off the hook. I’m a man of principles. As for tonight’s issue--"
"Smack." Not content with mere nuzzling, she went straight for the kiss.
What was he saying...Yu Jingting was bewildered. Oh, he had principles.
"Smack!" Suizi, unabashed, embraced his head, kissing him again and again.
The more she saw, the more she liked it, like a seal of approval~
Yu Jingting was stunned by the kisses.
Principles hit the floor along with his clothes. Anything goes.
The next day, Yu Jingting was famous.
Last night, Suizi had called upon people for help. Although they hadn’t been able to assist Yu Jingting, tales of his bravery, courage, and remarkable deeds quickly spread throughout the street.
Even the Residential Committee had come to inquire about the situation.
Yu Jingting and Suizi had both gone to work, and Wang Cuihua was home alone.
When she heard the Residential Committee was coming, she grew excited.
She took out the newspaper, all about her son’s exploits!
The Committee took a look, what a sight, isn’t this something?
In this day and age, material wealth isn’t prioritized. If you were to say someone is wealthy, not everyone would envy them, some might even scorn them as capitalist bootlickers!
But mental and spiritual civilization is highly valued, Yu Jingting’s continuous good deeds that were published in the newspapers, isn’t this the epitome of moral integrity?
When Suizi and Yu Jingting returned home that night, the two of them laughed and bantered as they entered their home, only to pause in confusion after taking a few steps.
Suizi backed up to the front door, huh?
"Where did this ’Civilized Good Family’ thing come from?!"
A bright red metal plaque had appeared, bearing the words ’Civilized Good Family’. This was momentous, as the selection procedure for this was quite strict.
This entailed the couple living harmoniously, respecting the elderly, being united with neighbors, and being polite and civilized.
It symbolized the highest honor for a family, and any family that hung this plaque was subject to the supervision of their neighbors.
Not to mention the last criterion - being polite and civilized...
"Damn!" Yu Jingting remembered how he was treated like a panda on display, with people gawking at him, and he blurted out the obscenity.
Suizi squinted her eyes.
"You’re now a role model for helping others, how could you be uttering such obscenities?" She planned to burden him with some idol responsibilities.
In response, Yu Jingting turned out a triad of the same obscenity.
"Can we return this plaque? Having this is a ticket to being a panda!" Not to mention having his entire family treated like pandas, attracting stares everywhere they went!
He had been enjoying the freedom to do as he pleased in the streets.
Now, with a mere slip of the tongue, his wife would chastise him!
"Why return it? This is something you earned for us with your own ability. We can handle it!"
Suizi was beaming as she touched the plaque, clearly ecstatic.
At dinner, Yu Jingting’s suggestion to return the plaque was unanimously rejected by the three women in the family, and his reward of a boiled goose egg was confiscated and given to Suizi instead.
"Brother, you have to live up to it. I have already thought of a topic for my essay this week: A Good Man, My Dear Brother Yu Tiegen!"
"Such a long title, can it be written in one line?" Yu Jingting teased, "By the way, my name is now Yu Jingting!"
"Just use ’A Good Man’ as the title; don’t start off the essay by saying he’s your brother. Write two or three heroic deeds, focus on one, and reveal it’s your own brother in the end. Don’t forget to elevate the central idea, saying you’re going to learn from him."
Suizi taught on the spot.
"Your man has only made two or three good deeds in his life, hasn’t he?" Wang Cuihua debunked her daughter-in-law.
Luckily, you just need two or three deeds for the essay; if you were to write more, there wouldn’t be any.
With only two or three good deeds, you would need to fill the gaps with his damned deeds.
"Pity I have to consider Wang’s privacy; otherwise, this would be a perfect thing to report—" Suizi was staring at her husband with eyes full of anticipation.
"Damn woman, don’t stick that weasel’s eye on me!" Yu Jingting felt his hair stand on end under her gaze.
His wife was oddly thrilled about packaging him as a great man.
Suizi indeed felt a thrill, a huge thrill.
After dinner, Yu Jingting wanted to pull her into the room for enjoyment, just like their intimate encounter last night.
He spread his arms, but got nothing.
The addicted little woman had gone outside to look at the signboard again.
In the middle of the night! Was she possessed?
Yu Jingting missed the plant again, but thinking of dinner, his addicted little wife solemnly warned him that as a moral model of this street, he can’t always talk about the plant.
Every time he mentioned it, she deducted one yuan from his allowance.
Yu Jingting’s daily income varied, but regardless of the amount, it all went to Suizi. Suizi, then, gave him an allowance.
Initially Suizi believed couples didn’t need to behave like this, but Wang Cuihua took her to a small room and lectured her on it.
Yu Jingting could easily guess that his mother must have instilled lots of "you need to stand tall" mentality into Suizi. A good daughter-in-law was turning more and more into Wang Cuihua.
The new and old-generation village belles have reached a happy consensus on educating Yu Jingting to be a good man.
Yu Jingting was tempted to mention the plant again. The words stuck in his throat but were swallowed back down as he heard Suizi opening the door.
Money is hard to earn...
"Sister-in-law, please come." Jiaojiao coyly pulled Suizi into the room.
"What’s up?" Suizi asked.
"The button fell off my coat. Please have a look." Jiaojiao blushed as she handed her cotton-padded jacket to Suizi.
Wang Cuihua sitting on the bed watched while smirking.
Suizi spread the clothes and immediately spotted the mark pinned on the sleeve.
"But there are still buttons left, aren’t there?" Suizi pretended not to notice.
Jiaojiao hurried.
"Sister-in-law, look carefully!"
"Well, the clothes look nice."
"It’s a stripe! Sister-in-law, I got a stripe!" Jiaojiao couldn’t hold back any longer.
Suizi hugged her, kissed her petite face,
"Just kidding! I’ve seen it already. Great job, Jiaojiao!"
One can’t get a stripe if their studies aren’t going well. This shows Jiaojiao has adapted very well to her new school; it seems she hasn’t caused any trouble either.
Jiaojiao giggled as Wang Cuihua nudged her and reminded her to talk about serious matters, not just giggle.
Yesterday, Jiaojiao had a tantrum, cried, and shouted she wouldn’t practice piano anymore. She threatened to go on a hunger strike if she was made to continue learning.
After a day’s reflection, she felt she had been very whimsical and decided to apologize to her sister-in-law.
"Sister-in-law, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have upset you..." Jiaojiao spoke in a low voice. Without her sister-in-law, she would still be failing her tests.
"Your voice is so low, only mosquitoes can hear it," Wang Cuihua said.
"Ah!!!" A surprised shout came from Yu Jingting.
"Damn it, what’s this freak hollering for!" Wang Cuihua jumped at the sound.
"Woman, come here fast! What’s this!"
