Chapter 1010: Chapter 1010: Is This News Worth 50,000?
"Aren’t you afraid that I might still covet your husband in the future?" Director Qu still couldn’t believe that the person in the world who should hold the most animosity towards her would offer her a lifeline when she had nowhere else to turn.
"Maybe others would, but you won’t," Suizi whispered into her ear.
Director Qu’s eyes widened as she stared at Suizi, as if asking again, "Is everything you’re saying true?"
Suizi nodded in confirmation.
Director Qu slumped in her chair as if she had lost her soul, muttering to herself:
"I lost."
"So, do you want to be my distributor?" Suizi asked.
Director Qu smiled bitterly and nodded her head.
This woman had already seized control of everything; she had no capital to argue.
Suizi patted her shoulder.
"Come to the company to sign the contract tomorrow; the market over there will be yours to manage."
With the conversation having reached this point, Suizi’s wish had been fulfilled.
Just as Suizi was getting ready to join her family, Director Qu suddenly grabbed Suizi’s arm.
"Is there something else?" Suizi asked.
"How much money do you want for the distribution fee?"
Suizi smiled.
"Twenty thousand."
For the average salaried class, this price was almost astronomical.
But Suizi knew that the woman before her was capable of earning this amount of money in a short period.
"I will use a piece of intelligence to exchange for this distribution fee."
"Intelligence?" Suizi was startled, what information could be worth twenty thousand?
"Come closer, and I’ll tell you," Director Qu whispered into Suizi’s ear, and Suizi’s complexion suddenly changed drastically.
"Is this information worth twenty thousand?"
Suizi was still immersed in the shock of the tremendous news and took a full half-minute to recover her composure.
Director Qu sighed inwardly.
Such was the strength of the Fan Family’s successor; never showing her feelings, truly unfathomable.
In reality, Suizi was just stunned.
Her reactions were slow, and the impact of such significant information was enough to silence Suizi for a long while.
And to outsiders, it would seem as though she was mature beyond her years, undisturbed by the waves, a pure misunderstanding.
It wasn’t until Director Qu asked a second time that Suizi came back to her senses, placing her hands on her shoulders.
"No, it’s not worth twenty thousand," she said.
Director Qu’s face changed, but then she heard Suizi continue:
"It’s worth fifty thousand. I won’t just waive your distribution fee, but also the first batch of goods payment, and even the initial expenses for you to develop the market there; my family will cover it all."
Yu Jingting watched from a distance. Seeing his wife reacting oddly, he quickly walked over.
He arrived just in time to hear Suizi say these words to Director Qu.
"Do you agree with what she’s saying?" Director Qu asked Yu Jingting, testing the waters.
Suizi had just used one sentence to put an end to all of Director Qu’s coveting of Yu Jingting.
That sentence was: All of my husband’s money is with me; seducing him is pointless.
If this sentence had come from an ordinary woman, it might not have been surprising; after all, don’t most households have the wives managing the finances?
But when it came out of Suizi’s mouth, it was very different.
Director Qu pursued profit and, when necessary, was even willing to destroy her own values by using her body in exchange.
Suizi disagreed with her morals, yet knew exactly how to block these people’s paths.
This sentence was a warning to Director Qu that if she dared to target Yu Jingting, not only would Suizi ensure she gained no advantage, but she would also blockade her future paths.
Director Qu asked Yu Jingting to test and see how credible Suizi’s words were.
When masters conflict, it’s not about emotions—it’s all about skill.
Yu Jingting didn’t respond directly to Director Qu but looked at Suizi instead.
Suizi nodded solemnly, and Jingting nodded in agreement.
"Although I still dislike you, whatever my wife says goes," he said.
This confirmed what Suizi had just said: in the household, she held the power of life and death.
"Alright, then we don’t need to sign the contract tomorrow. Let’s wait a few days. If the information you’ve provided is confirmed, we can sign then," said Director Qu before she left.
Suizi watched her retreating figure with a meaningful gaze, then glanced at her mother, Chen Lijun’s, belly not far away.
"How did you manage to reach an understanding with her? It seems like you’ve swayed her quite a bit," Yu Jingting asked.
"We seek profit. We certainly wouldn’t pick her as a confidant, but if it’s about cooperation and maximizing benefits, I have no reason to reject someone who can make money for our family. Moreover, if the information she provided is correct, it would be tantamount to saving my brother," Suizi replied.
"What do you mean?" Yu Jingting frowned.
"I’ll explain it to you privately back at home. Let’s act naturally in front of my mom," Suizi said.
After she suggested this, Jingting knew that this was a serious issue, but he was quick to react. Following Suizi’s cue, he immediately changed the subject.
By the time Chen Lijun and Wang Cuihua arrived, the young couple was already discussing what to eat for dinner.
"You really have a big heart. I was worried to death for you," Cuihua complained to her daughter-in-law. "It’s like the queen doesn’t panic but her maid does. I was thinking of rolling up my sleeves and fighting for you."
"Suizi, what did you say to her?" Lijun asked.
"Nothing much. I just inquired about her future plans—Mom, how was your prenatal checkup this time?" Suizi seamlessly diverted the conversation.
The atmosphere seemed as usual.
Lijun stroked her belly, looking a bit troubled.
"Everything is fine except for the breech position, which is a bit worrisome. The doctor said to wait a few more days to see if it turns around; if not, we’ll have to consider other options," Lijun said.
The fetus should be head-down, but a breech position is a common abnormal fetal position, accounting for 3-4% among expectant mothers. Lijun was now 31 weeks pregnant and needed to correct the fetal position.
The doctor taught her some exercises to persist with over the next few days to see if the child would turn; if not, they would have to consider other interventions.
Hearing this, Suizi’s eyes darkened slightly, a hint of malice flashing through them.
"What?! Someone’s trying to prevent our brother from being born?!" Even though Jingting was prepared for bad news, he was still shocked by her words.
When they got home, Suizi pulled him into a room for a whispered conversation.
Suizi quickly made a shushing gesture with her hand; her mother was outside chatting with her mother-in-law.
"Ms. Qu was talking nonsense, right?" Jingting was skeptical of the intelligence. "Would anyone dare to mess with our mom and not fear Dad’s retribution?"
"Did you hear what she said as she was leaving? Wait a few days, and if what she claimed is proven, then we’ll sign the contract. Does that sound like nonsense to you?" Suizi questioned.
Jingting thought deeply; it indeed did not sound like nonsense.
"Although her morals are questionable, she’s definitely smart. She knows that to collaborate with us, she has to present a commitment. She’s ruthless. If it hadn’t been for choosing the wrong side and a bit of bad luck, she wouldn’t be in the position she is today," Suizi analyzed.
"And here I thought you were firmly loyal to the Fan Family," Jingting said.
Suizi shrugged. She indeed was.
"I’m just being objective. Minor characters, in certain circumstances, have no other choice. That man was determined to have her; whether she submitted or not, the outcome would have been the same. So, it’s normal for her to secure as much benefit as possible," Suizi explained.
"I don’t care to hear how she turned from a person into a piece of shit. If we keep talking about this, are you going to hand me a microscope to analyze her main ingredients? Let’s talk about the important matters. If someone is planning to harm our brother, how will they do it?"
"I guess it has something to do with our mom’s breech pregnancy. Since that’s the case, let’s just turn their plan against them," Suizi suggested.
