Chapter 802: Chapter 590 Wishful Thinking
The impact of the list wasn’t significant, but it spared Zheng Yichen some extra trouble. However, this did not bring any change to Zheng Yichen’s daily routine—he simply continued his cultivation when idle.
His own long list of skills contained numerous restorative abilities, enabling him to slowly regain what he lost just by standing on the earth.
However, such recovery was not very effective when it came to the Essence of Life. Mainly because Zheng Yichen’s body was currently very healthy, and the life force brought about by the Essence of Life was considered extra, exceeding the normal Blood Bar.
Compared to a normal life form, having the Essence of Life meant he had a bonus count of ×50 behind the normal Blood Bar.
Most restorative abilities mainly targeted the current Blood Bar, not the extra count beyond it.
His current personal state was that the Blood Bar count hadn’t recovered to the extent of ×50, yet his current Blood Bar was completely full.
Thus, the effect of the restorative abilities seemed unimpressive.
However, based on the remaining Essence of Life, he could still handle most situations—even making him feel tempted to try slaying a True God for practice...
"Are you really okay?" Lillian assessed Zheng Yichen, resting her chin on her hand and feeling puzzled by Zheng Yichen’s eager demeanor. "That’s a True God after all; even the weakest True God isn’t something a Demigod can easily match."
"There are many first times in life, including slaying a True God. I have many enemies; isn’t it worse if I encounter similar foes in the future without any experience?"
Zheng Yichen made his point persuasively. He wouldn’t actively provoke the normal True Gods, but those deserving death were a different matter. Especially those who wanted to harm him; Zheng Yichen was eager to confront them directly.
"And besides, isn’t there Godslayer in this world?"
"How often does a Godslayer appear?" Lillian rolled her eyes. "If you could slay a True God, you could take their place..."
"That would be a bit difficult; I am a warrior, not versed in seizing Godhead," Zheng Yichen modestly said.
Lillian didn’t believe it one bit.
The discussion arose because recently, the Luminous Church discovered traces of a Deathwalker, an assassin organization known as Death Hunter. Assassins who joined this organization received a ’Blessing’ from a Death-type True God.
Such blessings were like a generic ’Blessing’ generator—a True God would handcraft it and place it somewhere to charge periodically, continually effective. Those who received the blessing weren’t the focus of the True God, purely a matter of mechanics.
Even being automated, it was still a True God’s blessing. Even if not powerful, it granted those who received it a unique strength.
Others knew little about the Death Hunter organization, but the Luminous Church knew quite a bit. There were many assassin organizations funded by Demigods, and competition was quite... fierce?
Ahem, although not a good organization, the competition was indeed fierce. The reason was that these assassin organizations had once crazily rolled inward to meet certain ’quotas,’ eventually leading to chaos within the assassin community and full-scale sanctions from other God types and Mortal Realm forces.
The True Gods behind those organizations couldn’t even comment; it was their fault for rolling into a mess, turning assassins into terrorists who would publicly kill people on the streets.
If they spoke up, it wouldn’t just be these organizations that were sanctioned—the True Gods behind them would suffer too.
So, the True Gods behind these organizations ended up fighting among themselves because some fools only knew how to crazily assign targets to their subordinates, causing their organizations to roll into chaos. One would start, another would refute, and so on...
Ultimately, these True Gods had a skirmish, not a godly battle per se, as those generally involved deaths. This type of fighting was more of a brawl, yet it still had significant consequences.
Afterward, the assassin organizations normalized significantly, and those True Gods who had fought established new rules: any roller would be thoroughly beaten to death by the group.
Many assassin organizations had the backing of True Gods, and generally those Gods were of the Death type. Assassins took on contracts to earn money, and by virtue of carrying the blessing of a Death-type True God, the souls of those they killed were claimed by these Gods.
These Gods harvested powerful or special souls in this manner, which explained why those assassin organizations backed by Death-type True Gods were so rampant before.
It was all to please their patron Gods better and receive stronger blessings, accumulating enough to catch a True God’s attention and, after death, enter that God’s Divine Kingdom.
The Death Hunter organization had many records of killing Divinity creatures; even when Zheng Yichen fought other Demigods, other Demigods who died during the process could be linked to this assassin organization.
As for the Death Hunters not currently having a bounty on Zheng Yichen—that was also normal.
In this world, Zheng Yichen was still a Demigod, and it wasn’t just a matter of petty claims to list a Demigod on a wanted list. A bounty? That was even more impossible, as no one would publically announce a bounty to take down a Demigod.
Especially not during such a critical period. The number of Demigods in Landen City had reached an all-time high, and Zheng Yichen could encounter several slightly disgruntled Demigods whenever he left home.
