I Am Also An Extraordinary Creature -
Chapter 741 - 555_1
Chapter 741: Chapter 555_1
"There can only be one Oath, right?"
"Hmph, an Oath can indeed only bind to one, but he is a Proxy Agent. As long as he spends merit points, what difficulty is there in erasing the previous Oath??"
Hong Yuan harrumphed, staring at the door’s opposite end where a blood-colored figure shrouded in fervent blood-steamed vapor was still eyeing them. It was a color that, beyond the color of the aura-membrane, was also dyed red from the blood continuously crumbling and flowing out of Zheng Yichen’s body.
The others knew what Hong Yuan said was the truth; some even had a tinge of regret for joining the chaos.
According to Hong Yuan, this indeed presented an opportunity to annihilate the Proxy Agent. Although it differed somewhat from the original intention of the forceful intrusion, it coincidentally targeted another troublesome goal.
Remaining indifferent was equivalent to letting the tiger return to the mountain, which would unquestionably affect the interests of the entire Boundary Breaking Faction. And those who let the tiger return would be none other than this group of people.
When accountability for the incident was pursued later, none present would be able to escape blame.
"Damn it, this is really bad luck!!" swore a God Descender, glaring fiercely at Hong Yuan. He had come to join the fuss because Hong Yuan’s description of the Oath Beast was quite enticing, prompting him to take a look and ponder if he could acquire a powerful pet afterward.
What he hadn’t expected was to be embroiled in this mess.
The Oath Beast seemed fierce indeed, but the opposing Proxy Agent was fiercer.
"We don’t have much time left, we need to find a way to break out first," said a woman enveloped in pure moonlight. She was Yue Heng from the Great World, in her original form.
"We’re surrounded by one person, and still talk of breaking out... Watch me!" Another God Descender took action, a pervasive fog seeping through the ’door’ to the other side. This fog was extremely thick yet did not affect the visibility on the side of the Great World.
This was one of the Great World’s advanced research results in power control, much like some unique cultivation methods found within sects, forming one of the pillars that sustained the sects.
The higher echelons of the Great World had access to this kind of ’cultivation’ method, which could endow their power with a unique spirituality. This did not imply that their power would develop its own consciousness, but rather that it tightened the connection between the power and its wielder. Through this special bond, they could ensure that the wielded attacks spared those they did not wish to harm.
This was the Great World’s special ’Friendly Fire’ off mode. Normally, to avoid harming allies, one needed to exert strong control over their own power during battle, ensuring that the unleashed attacks did not affect comrades.
This was cumbersome and demanded a significant focus, but once one’s power was imbued with spirituality, it required less conscious effort. Ally´s unconsciously not wanting to harm would naturally be spared by the released power.
Of course, bestowing spirituality upon power was not omnipotent. At first, it merely reduced friendly fire, not meaning mastery would solve all problems and allow for indiscriminate action. To prevent friendly fire, the level of cultivation in this method and one’s control over their own power were necessary to eliminate such incidents entirely.
Provided one’s control over their own power was high enough, true friendly fire would cease to exist, even if the attack was catastrophic, without the need for deliberate control diluting concentration.
Regarding the issue of allies possibly dying after the attack... that would certainly have nothing to do with that direct, devastating attack. If an ally died, either the attack was too strong, leading to dramatic environmental changes and death by the ensuing natural disasters, or the attack’s range was too wide, obliterating all air in the vicinity and suffocating less powerful allies.
There was also the most common issue that spirituality-invested power could not avoid: the indirect killing force of shockwaves.
The shockwaves produced by some blasts contained attached lethal force, which would swerve around allies, but the resultant shockwaves from the attack itself were beyond the user’s control.
Thus, even with friendly fire removed, allies could still die from the indirect harm of various attacks.
Yet even so, this method appeared extremely high-end; with strong enough control over one’s power, one could entirely avoid additional shockwaves during energy attacks. As for environmental destruction, that was unavoidable.
Here, the spirit-infused fog would not affect the visibility of others from the Great World. For those outside the Great World’s Boundary Breaker camp, the fog could block all five senses and shield special perceptions, among other things.
Zheng Yichen was affected by this fog, but after it enveloped him, he swung the giant sabers in his hands.
He had been accumulating demonic thoughts all along, but because the Oath Beast was not a normal life form, the Demonic Abyss Seven Kills, like a normal final move release, had less obvious effects than before.
Zheng Yichen never intended to destroy the Oath Beast with such attacks. Given the Counter-Oath Power, he was on the brink of explosion where he stood, each slash consuming his life. Such attacks were potent enough to sever the large Chains of Oath, so he thought it better to store up demonic thoughts for use elsewhere.
Look, wasn’t it now being put to use?
The destructive dark-red saber light burst through the fog, causing the faces of the God Descenders on the other side to change drastically as they quickly dodged, letting the strike hit an empty space. They saw that the ’door’ created by the forceful invasion began to tremble under this blow.
Zheng Yichen’s attacks now consistently involved spatial distortion, and the enhancement from the Counter-Oath Power made the quality of this spatial distortion extremely high.
After he had acted, he no longer kept the ’silence’ he had just been maintaining. The silence was his effort to adjust his own state, to enhance the balance between the Counter-Oath Power growing within him and the Oath Power as much as possible, and to try to figure out how to reduce the backlash from breaking the oath.
This breaking of the Oath using the Counter-Oath Power was not an active breach of the Oath; the strong ’regret’ that comes from regretting breaking the Oath was useless, for the Power of the Oath would not give the transgressor a second chance. Once the Oath was broken, the backlash would continue to the end, regardless of how the Oath was broken.
"Come on! Is that all you’ve got, just watching?? If you don’t come at me, I will make my move!!!"
With a roar, the second saber stroke fell, the bloody saber light striking the ’door’, causing another violent upheaval. Although this attack was not the Demonic Abyss Seven Kills, its inherent strength was already quite substantial.
Hong Yuan looked at the trembling door and simply said, "Let’s strike together."
This invasive door, like a forcefully inserted straw, had limited strength. If Zheng Yichen continued to hack at it, the door would soon vanish due to the accompanying spatial distortion.
At that point, they would have no chance to invade a second time in the short term, mainly because starting such an invasion takes time.
Seeing the current state of the Oath Beast, if they were to attempt this again, it’s likely that the Oath Beast would be destroyed in the process, and without this vital coordinate of the Oath Beast, a forced invasion would directly fail, as the Boundary Breakers remaining here could not provide sufficient anchoring power for the coordinates.
The other God Descenders stopped bickering, putting aside matters of interest to be discussed later. Without wasting more time, their opportunities dwindled.
So they stopped looking on from the sidelines and took joint action.
The fog shattered by the Demonic Abyss Seven Kills reappeared, and the power of space spread out from the door, solidifying and halting the saber light from Zheng Yichen’s attack, the bloody saber light frozen like a flame in ice.
Silver moonlight swiftly pierced through the fog, cutting into Zheng Yichen’s rear at unimaginable angles.
The intense collision sound spread with the scattering of shattered moonlight. Yue Heng, who had been repelled, stared at Zheng Yichen panting, seemingly exhausted.
She knew it was not fatigue, but rather the mental burden caused by the immense pressure of the power, leading to an overwhelming load on his body.
This Proxy Agent appeared as if he might be crushed by the unbearable power at any moment, but until that happened, he was at his most dangerous!
Mere reliance on enhanced strength allowed him to block her true form’s attack, and Zheng Yichen forcibly broke free from the frozen space. The power he exhibited now was several times stronger than the Arriver body he had used before.
Moreover, this was still limited by the maximum power allowed in this world; should Zheng Yichen make it to the Great World, his display of power would only seem even more exaggerated.
Yet, Zheng Yichen’s spirit seemed somewhat disordered under the oppression of excessive power, but he clearly hadn’t lost his sanity, preferring to endure the immense pressure to block the door rather than going mad and charging directly into battle.
They had been waiting previously, partly to see if Zheng Yichen would come charging at them.
However, in the end, they were the ones who could not sit still any longer and had to come forward.
"Hahaha, the true body of a God Descender—this is just great!!"
The rampaging bloody saber light broke through the solidified space around him, fending off several attacks from the God Descenders; Yue Heng left behind a moonlight afterimage in her place, which was shattered by the saber light, yet she herself remained unharmed.
She frowned slightly; the afterimage was used to gauge the enemy’s attack strength, and from the feedback of the shattered afterimage, Zheng Yichen could now break her moonlight armor with just a casual strike.
This made him a unique boss, a weird ’Oath monster’ under the influence of Oath Power and Counter-Oath Power, comparable to the Oath Beast created by Hong Yuan.
Yet, what kind of circumstances allowed this Proxy Agent, an outsider, to use the world’s Oath Power to such an extent?
"Unity of Heaven and Man... he has a faint connection with the environment of this world. It is probably because the Oath Beast’s apocalyptic Oath is threatening the world itself, forcing the world to establish this connection with him."
Another God Descender relayed information through their unique form of communication.
Hmm? Yue Heng frowned slightly, really? Does the world itself have a desire for survival? It does, but such ’desire to survive’ is usually negligible, for most worlds, even if they have this ’desire’, it means nothing.
Those worlds lack the conditions to turn such ’desire’ into actual influence!
Most of the worlds could be regarded as ’vegetative,’ meaning, according to my companion, that this world has some slight ’consciousness’?
