Chapter 544: Chapter 419: No Personal Locker_1
"My bike hasn’t changed this time." He patted his motorcycle, which no longer had any scratch marks on its surface; there was no substantial change in its appearance, but the insides of the bike had been completely updated.
It was a change that could stump the technical department of the Ahn family, even beyond their comprehension.
In terms of protection, the protective force field came with absorption, deflection, and decomposition effects, an adaptive protection field that altered effects based on the attack type. Attacks below a certain strength were directly absorbed, attacks that were too concentrated but limited in scope were deflected, and attacks that were too vast and sustained were decomposed...
If an attack combined all the above features, the protective force field would deploy multiple layers of defense.
And then there was the battle suit. After comparing the battle suit created by Chiang Wei with those from that other world, Zheng Yichen found that the battle suit was not outdated when compared to the ones from the previous world; they were just styled differently. The only difference, if any, was in the materials used.
All it took was a simple enhancement using the high-quality materials provided by Diplomat Nelly, and it didn’t even require merit points, just money... ten million a piece.
Zheng Yichen agreed to it, for using the Sky Pillar’s energy for enhancement would have started at twenty merit points.
But the battle suit was something used in low-level environments; super-strong energy-absorbing materials were enough, and it wasn’t really necessary to wear such things for combat in high-level environments.
The weapons for the three youngsters were still in the storage locker, as they had no time to visit Dusk Territory. Zheng Yichen stretched his body and inserted a hard drive into the storage locker accessible to Chiang Wei.
He then took out his phone: "Hello? Come and move the stuff."
"I understand, sounds like there’s another surprise in store."
Ahn Qi glanced at her own pale left arm and dialed another number. Without delay, Ahn Longling arrived: "How’s your recovery going?"
"It wasn’t a fatal wound; I should have recovered a long time ago. I shouldn’t have listened to Ahn Ke." Ahn Qi clenched her left hand. During a recent expedition, she had run into trouble with the locals, resulting in the loss of her arm.
A detrimental injury was not an issue for Ahn Ke; she had many options. Ahn Ke could have restored it to normal, or she could have gone to her second brother for a powerful, seemingly flawless bionic mechanical arm.
But for the sake of her own sense of wholeness, she did not choose that option, even though her second brother proactively recommended many powerful arms after learning of her injury. The most exaggerated option could even launch a miniature tactical nuclear bomb.
Ahn Ke instead provided her with several treatment options that seemed reliable. Looking back now, it was purely a bad call to trust Ahn Ke’s judgment!
Her arm had regained normal function, but she remained weak and listless, not to the point of being unable to move, but like a fragile young girl—an adjustment that was decidedly uncomfortable for her, to the point where she could not even touch alcohol recently.
The weakness was temporary, attributed to her newly regenerated arm, which used some of Ahn Ke’s newest technologies, focusing most of her body’s nutrients there. The reason was that the arm, grown from her own genes, had a higher lifeform level than her body.
Thus the feeling of weakness arose because her body, acting as the power source, was barely able to handle the new "hardware."
However, the benefit was that with time, her lifeform level would rise, uplifted by the arm with a higher lifeform level.
In professional fields, Ahn Ke had a way with words; otherwise, she wouldn’t have been enticed by Ahn Ke’s words after losing an arm.
"Sister, he’s back. Could you go pick him up?"
"Oh—leave it to me."
Zheng Yichen wasn’t surprised that Ahn Longling was the one who came; Ahn Ke didn’t have the adaptive traits for Dusk. He loaded the boxes onto the truck Ahn Longling had brought, and she didn’t inquire about their contents.
Instead, she glanced at the vehicle parked beside Zheng Yichen: "Seems like you don’t really need a new means of transportation."
"I’m used to it and don’t wish to change. This time, what I’ve brought is quite special; it should keep you guys busy for a while."
While conversing with her, another car arrived, driven by Katrina. The young witch had learned how to drive. Seeing this, Ahn Longling didn’t linger: "Let’s arrange another time to talk, then."
Zheng Yichen thought for a moment before saying, "Wait a few more days. I have some things to attend to afterward and will need to disappear for a few more days."
He transferred the remaining items to the car Katrina had brought, and together with her, he returned to their residence. The installation of the new equipment could wait until he woke up!
After parking the car in the garage, Zheng Yichen, to the shrieks of the young witch, swept her into his arms and carried her to the bedroom, where she lay on the bed with her eyes gently closed, her complexion flushed and moist, her expression expectant.
Zheng Yichen exhaled deeply, gently pinched Katrina’s cheek, and held her close: "Let’s wait until I’ve woken up before we try anything else..."
"Huh?" Katrina immediately opened her eyes and looked at Zheng Yichen, who was already asleep. She gently touched his cheek with her hand and rested her head on his shoulder, falling asleep alongside him.
Even though Zheng Yichen now had a strong aura of death about him, the girl did not find it unpleasant. Instead, she felt more pity; Zheng Yichen must have encountered some difficult situation again.
After a good sleep, she opened her eyes and it was already twelve o’clock, at night.
He reached out and touched the girl’s face beside him. Not wanting to disturb her rest, he quietly got out of bed, got dressed, and went straight to the garage. From there, he rode his motorcycle to the southern forest.
From tonight, the hunt... With plenty of the Power of Death still lingering in his body, he needed to recover quickly.
As for doing things with his lover that they both enjoyed, he’d have to have his body back to normal first, right? It wouldn’t be right to proceed just for the thrill. The proportion of the Power of Death in his body wasn’t high, but no one could guarantee it wouldn’t affect others.
There was also the matter of the hallucinogens accumulated in his body; he didn’t know if they had dissipated yet.
All of these needed to be tested, starting with the prey in the southern forest. If he couldn’t find any prey, he’d look for some new anomalies or go after the more powerful creatures on the other side.
The southern forest was never short of anomalies, and with his current strength, he could move around freely there.
When daylight came, Katrina slowly opened her eyes. The girl sat up and saw the note left by the bed. Without changing clothes, she slipped on her slippers, humming a tune as she walked to the kitchen—it was less than an hour after the time on the note. She could get breakfast ready before Zheng Yichen returned.
In the southern forest, several Hunters whistled appreciatively at Zheng Yichen’s motorcycle: "That bike is freaking cool. Where’d you get it customized?"
"From the Ahn family," said Zheng Yichen, now back to normal, as he greeted the unarmed Hunters with a smile. After successive enhancements, the Ahn family logo on the motorcycle was nowhere to be found.
Back home, Katrina had already prepared breakfast and was waiting in the living room, with Eileena also present. Zheng Yichen naturally took his seat and said to Eileena, "I haven’t seen you for a while. You look well."
The witch seemed to have grown younger recently.
Alina smiled and explained, "I’ve had some breakthroughs in my research with Magic Potions, and I feel like my thoughts have gotten more flexible since becoming younger."
Previously, she appeared young, but was actually not so young in age. Now, it was different. Through research on the Essence of Life and her studies in magic, she improved her physical constitution.
The convenience brought by the higher environment was beyond what was imaginable before.
Zheng Yichen activated his thermal vision and observed the two witches; even their Magic Power appeared within the thermal vision’s range, showing up in a form slightly different from body temperature as a distinct ’heat source.’ Their Magic Power was very strong now.
So, Zheng Yichen sped up his meal, "I’ve brought back a lot of good stuff, I’ll get it all installed for you later."
Small lifeform material refinement devices, force field generators, and so on. The force field generator was designed for laboratory use, capable of restraining most things for study. He also brought a complete set of other material processing equipment.
Zheng Yichen also brought back a lot of materials that could optimize the body. It wouldn’t be fair if only he improved and didn’t let those around him do the same, right? More precious still was the knowledge.
Zheng Yichen was waiting for the day when the two witches would completely handle logistics. Before, it was all investment, but now returns were beginning to show. If he could carry a storage locker with him, they could be even more useful.
Like those insects!!
Zheng Yichen had really missed the Curse artifacts that Eileena had made during battles. If he had those, he could simply set up a Curse artifact somewhere and execute a massive chain curse; dealing with those insects would be much easier then.
Elsewhere.
Ahn Ke stared at a man in front of him wearing rimless glasses, "Second brother, although you’ve helped a lot with some matters before, some things can’t just be given away that easily. I need to keep this thing."
"I can take it to try and reproduce a new one," the man with glasses was adamant. After Ahn Longling brought back those items yesterday, he immediately abandoned the experiments he was working on and came here.
"I’m not doubting second brother’s abilities, but some of my current researches are at a critical point, and these devices are a great help to me. I can’t wait."
"Neither can I!" The man with glasses’ eyes twitched slightly, "Sister, use your gender advantage to secure a set of these devices, it would be a good outcome for you as well."
"I don’t mind progressing some relationships that way, but second brother, what you suggested can’t be done in a short time," Ahn Ke continued as she looked at her unmoving brother, "Let’s do it this way: keep the stuff here, and you can come over to research."
"...That works," the man with glasses seemed somewhat reluctant, but said nothing more.
