Chapter 52: Chapter 50: Returning the Skull? No_1

Looking at the pitch-black cave, Katrina hesitated, "I think it would be better if we don’t go inside?"

"Use this." Zheng Yichen controlled a simple drone to fly into the cave, then saw a woman dressed in tattered clothes, her face veiled, who seemed to be... a zombie bride? At any rate, she had a pretty good figure.

"..."

"Let’s go, take a look inside." Zheng Yichen, holding a gun in one hand and his phone in the other, said.

"Could it be dangerous?"

"Generally, it shouldn’t be, but you stay here at the entrance," Zheng Yichen said, not allowing Katrina to follow him in. He went into the cave alone, and the veiled woman inside did not appear puzzled by Zheng Yichen’s entrance. Her gaze lingered on him for a moment before returning to the simple drone.

"What is this?"

"Who are you?" Zheng Yichen asked the woman in front of him. Although her clothing seemed worn, her exposed arms were very smooth. The entire interior of the cave had rough, rudimentary furniture, and a fire inside made it not feel cold.

There were also some small animal carcasses.

Well... it looked very much like a witch.

"You may consider me a witch, an unknown traveler, you and this place do not fit in," the witch said calmly.

"I don’t want to be here either, but it just so happened that I found this place," Zheng Yichen said as he approached the witch, who had started examining the drone up close only after Zheng Yichen had come inside.

Zheng Yichen eyed the witch in front of him, really wanting to lift her veil to see underneath, but he also felt it would be impolite. He put away the simple drone and looked at the witch with a new question: "I am looking for the Headless Knight. Do you know anything?"

The Headless Knight had been active in this forest, and the witch was in this forest too, so he couldn’t help but think a bit more about it.

"Do you want to deal with the Headless Knight?"

"Of course."

The witch’s gaze penetrated her veil, looking at some of the things Zheng Yichen had on him. The fishing rod was a common item, but the horn Zheng Yichen had and a red belt were not ordinary things.

"...To know the whereabouts of the Headless Knight, you need the guidance of the deceased," the witch said and then began to busy herself. First, she glanced outside the entrance: "The girl with you... you understand by yourself."

She thought of something but did not continue; instead, she pulled Zheng Yichen to an old table, first shackling her own arms with manacles to test the reach, and then took out some powder to ignite. The hazy smoke emanated.

Zheng Yichen gently moved his nose, feeling a bit uncomfortable. The smoke seemed to induce hallucinations. The witch took out a grass basket, gave it a shake, and then flung out a bat, decapitating it with a decisive chop.

She then sprinkled the bat’s blood over the powder, and the white smoke immediately turned red.

"Don’t be afraid, I’ll catch them when they come,"

"It’s not that..." Zheng Yichen looked at the witch in front of him, whose voice gradually faded, feeling somewhat conflicted. He always felt that the witch was a bit too enthusiastic, not only eagerly helping but also zealously turning into a ghoul?

Suddenly, she lunged forward, her eyeballs popped out, and a venomous snake also emerged from her mouth. In that instant, Zheng Yichen took out his black spear and almost impulsively pinned the witch to the ground. She was restrained by chains, and even though she underwent violent changes, she couldn’t break free from the chains, her hands merely brushed against Zheng Yichen.

Then Zheng Yichen pushed her back down, and aside from the initial scare, she now didn’t have the strength to overpower him. Outside, Katrina, attracted by the noise, rushed in to see Zheng Yichen pressing down a woman who was struggling and howling.

"Who, who is she??" Katrina asked, stunned. In her eyes, what she saw was Zheng Yichen pressing down an older woman, seemingly about to do something.

"A witch," Zheng Yichen said, listening to the Forest Witch’s howl. The intermittent contents of that howl gradually pieced together—the location of the Headless Knight was under the Tree of Death... one would need to follow a road facing the setting sun to find it.

After sharing this information, the witch calmed down, and Katrina pouted, coming over to take a look at the witch, then at the powder that had burned out on the table, a look of realization flickered in her eyes, and her anger dissipated as quickly as it had come.

What Zheng Yichen saw just now must have been different from what she saw. She recognized the powder; it was something that could aid witches in Necromancy, and of course, it could also affect the people around, inducing a hallucinogenic effect.

To conduct Necromancy and bring forth the deceased, one must be in a state of ’spiritual vulnerability,’ and hallucination was the best way to achieve that.

Zheng Yichen looked at the witch in front of him who had settled down, and as the smoke completely dissipated, her ghastly face slowly returned to normal. She appeared to be over forty years old, with naturally white hair which, despite being unkempt, still carried a certain allure, and her figure had not gone out of shape.

Looking at the witch who had shown her true appearance, Zheng Yichen felt that if she had been younger, she would have been even more attractive.

Before long, the Forest Witch returned to her normal self, and the shackles on her arms had been removed. She looked at Zheng Yichen beside her: "You are very powerful, a formidable warrior."

Even while she was in the state of Necromancy, she still had enough awareness of the outside world to clearly remember how Zheng Yichen had controlled her just now. That strength was definitely not something an ordinary person possessed; the robust young man in front of her was like a bull.

"I’m not exactly an ordinary person anymore, and since you’re a witch, is there any extra way to deal with the Headless Knight? That guy is undead, and neither gunshots nor stabs can kill him; he heals very quickly," Zheng Yichen simply described the Headless Knight’s situation.

The witch shook her head gently: "The Headless Knight is a being that has returned from Hell, so how could he be killed again? To deal with the Headless Knight, you can only send him back to Hell."

"How do you send him back?"

"Return the head to the Headless Knight. He wanders the Mortal Realm in search of his lost head."

"Rather than sending him back, I still want to kill the guy."

The Forest Witch looked at Zheng Yichen with some bewilderment. She had already provided the location of the Headless Knight and a way to deal with him. Zheng Yichen should be thinking of strategizing next, so why was he thinking of an unconventional approach?

"Why?"

"Because the Headless Knight has a sword that looks very powerful, and I want it."
