"Eight bam!" Zheng Yichen played the tile from his hand, his approach to mahjong was very rough, just matching tiles and playing by luck, hardly considering elements like keeping track of tiles, a pure ’for-fun’ approach suitable for the common folk.

His discard was completely arbitrary, as long as it wasn’t a tile he wanted, it was certain he wouldn’t keep it.

"Pong." A few hands later, Hunter Arno had gotten the hang of it. The rules of mahjong were simple and Zheng Yichen hadn’t invented any complicated rules for the game. Perhaps there would be in future, but that probably wouldn’t be his doing. As for his attitude towards the game, playing was nice, but not being able to play wouldn’t be unbearable, just something to enjoy with relatives during festivals and celebrations.

"I hope nobody’s going to gamble with this game in the future? I’d feel like I’ve made a mistake."

"You’re overthinking it." Hunter Arno looked at the tiles in his hand, intending to discard one, but then reconsidered and put it back, changing it for another: "Gamblers don’t mind any form of game, one more or less doesn’t make a difference."

He admitted the mahjong game was indeed very good, but the board and card games of this world were not bad either. Now, however, since he managed to effectively eliminate the downsides brought about by his own Extraordinary Being condition, he actually thought it was pretty good. He wiped his body with a damp towel, avoiding the wounded area, and returned to the Dusk Cathedral to find Prioress Tia. It wasn’t so much as finding her as seeing her as soon as he arrived.

When he wasn’t paying attention, it seemed like the nun was never around, but when he wanted to find her, she could be spotted immediately.

Even though he had seen many abnormal things living in Hazy City over the years, such experiences made Zheng Yichen feel he still had a lot to go through.

"I’d like a thorough checkup, the comprehensive detailed kind," Zheng Yichen told Tia his intention. With several encounters already and her awareness that he was an Extraordinary Being, there was no harm in making up for the body checks he had missed in the past.

"Sure," Prioress Tia nodded. "Follow me."

This time, they didn’t go to the infirmary or the place where he had previously undergone a physical examination; instead, they entered another large room. Here, Zheng Yichen felt as though he wasn’t in a cathedral but in a hospital, observing a nun operating some equipment added to the strangeness he felt.

"Lie down," Tia directed him to the bed used for physical examinations as she looked at Zheng Yichen, who appeared somewhat nervous. Her tone was as calm as ever, "Don’t be nervous, the wound won’t affect the results of the subsequent examination."

This was just the beginning. After checking the basic conditions of Zheng Yichen’s body, they proceeded with other tests. Zheng Yichen even entered a device similar to an MRI machine, and when he came out, he felt dizzy.

It was like having a dozen one-horned mules hissing in his ears.

This time, Tia gave him the medical examination report, complete with scan images. Zheng Yichen looked at them; there were still signs of fractures in some parts of his skeleton, remnants of injuries that had not fully healed. In other respects, everything was normal; there were no extra bones, nor had any grown into strange shapes.

Furthermore, there were no abnormal shadows inside his body.

"Physiologically speaking, you are entirely the same as a normal human being, with no internal differences," Tia explained to Zheng Yichen, who was sitting obediently. "On this common basis, you possess characteristics that ordinary people do not have. Some Extraordinary Beings may panic because of their abnormalities, resisting all medical examinations and even treating them as diseases. In reality, such concerns are unnecessary."

"Then how come those little animals become so monstrously abnormal after their transformation?"

Rabbits spouting chrysanthemums from their mouths, chick’s heads exploding with an abundance of tubular tentacles, giant rats opening their mouths wide enough to tear half of their body to bite people, and snakes whose skins sprout dense tentacles all over, just like caterpillars.

Each one was too adorable.

"Are you sure you want to compare yourself to small animals?" Tia glanced at Zheng Yichen.

"Of course not."

"That’s good, then. When you first developed abnormalities, as long as you still subjectively consider yourself a human, there won’t be any additional changes, and there won’t be significant changes in the future, nor is there reproductive isolation from ordinary humans."

Listening to Prioress Tia’s words brought Zheng Yichen a lot of relief. He quickly took the opportunity to ask another question, "What about with other creatures?"
