I Am Also An Extraordinary Creature -
Chapter 29 - 27 Thinking Beautifully_1
Chapter 29: Chapter 27 Thinking Beautifully_1
The likelihood of encountering extraordinary creatures had increased significantly. Zheng Yichen immediately realized that it was the untreated wound on his body that was attracting them with blood.
This spurred him to quicken his pace and leave. He didn’t even go back to the temporary camp. When he returned to the city, he found a shared bicycle. The trip back was incredibly tough; it’s always wise to heed advice and eat well. Hunter Arno had specifically reminded him when he left that it is best for a hunter to have a reliable means of transportation.
In the city, it was convenient to take public transport, no need to worry about finding parking spaces, but this was only within the city limits. Once heading out to the suburbs or the like, it could be quite a hassle.
He was now experiencing this feeling.
Fortunately, Dusk Cathedral was much closer to the southern forest than his home. He finally heaved a sigh of relief when he arrived here after a winding journey. In the suburbs, he was attacked by some extraordinary creatures. Back in the city, he also attracted some large rats and feral cats.
Those creatures added quite a few new minor wounds to his body.
"I need treatment for my injuries," Zheng Yichen said immediately upon seeing a familiar-looking nun at the entrance of Dusk Cathedral.
The nun with milky-white hair glanced at Zheng Yichen’s body and nodded, "Follow me."
In a room resembling an infirmary, the nun examined Zheng Yichen’s body and skillfully began treating his wounds. After dealing with some of the larger wounds, they were closed with adhesive sutures.
Zheng Yichen discovered that the nun was quite strong; she was able to correct his fractures by herself, making the whole process unavoidably painful, causing him to grimace in pain.
"Spanking, or do you want to choose the spot yourself?" After tending to Zheng Yichen’s fractures and surface injuries, the nun took out a syringe, her expression unchanging as she looked at Zheng Yichen.
"Is that really necessary?"
"It’s fine, as long as you’re not worried about an infection," the nun said without insisting. Zheng Yichen thought about it and decided to get the injection. He had been attacked by many small extraordinary creatures along the way, which had caused many new wounds. The wounds weren’t large, but the scratches from these extraordinary creatures could carry dangerous bacteria.
Back on Earth, he might have ignored it with his constitution, but in a world where extraordinary creatures exist, the emergence of extraordinary bacteria would make sense, right?
"Isn’t it okay to get the shot in the arm?"
The consultation fee was twelve thousand, no bill, just based on the nun’s word and the payment code she presented.
"..." Zheng Yichen reluctantly scanned the payment code and covered the consultation fee. Since arriving in this world, he hadn’t suffered such severe injuries and didn’t know the cost in other places. There was one thing the nun made sense about, though: some injuries and illnesses could be covered by health insurance.
But injuries sustained by a hunter definitely couldn’t be covered by health insurance.
The nun’s healing abilities were quite good; apart from the pain during the bone correction, everything else was steady. The entire process was without any mistakes, professional and efficient.
"My name is Chang Qing, and you..."
"Tia."
Then there was no ’then’; he was chased out of the infirmary. All his treatable wounds had been tended to, injections administered, and the bill settled. Afterwards, as long as he didn’t engage in any vigorous activities, he would be fine. Prioress Tia wouldn’t allow Zheng Yichen to linger in the infirmary overnight, as his presence impeded her cleaning.
Sitting in a chair inside the Dusk Cathedral, he looked at the information on his phone app. The task under review had been confirmed as completed, and the fee for the commission had been transferred. The amount indicated was neither more nor less than the agreed sum, and the taxes had already been taken care of by the client—which Zheng Yichen found quite satisfactory.
With the extra income, the expenses he had incurred for his treatment didn’t seem as painful. Now, he was thinking about buying a car as soon as possible, believing that if a car wasn’t convenient, he would buy a more powerful motorcycle.
It was daylight already, though Zheng Yichen didn’t learn this from checking his phone. Inside the Dusk Cathedral, he still thought it was evening; the color tones here always managed to ’mislead’ him.
Yawning, Zheng Yichen began cleaning with the tools he had borrowed from the Prioress. He had dealt with the head of the one-horned mule there, and looking at its head, he felt somewhat regretful. The pain had gotten to his head during the incident, and after he had brought the creature down, his finishing blow was a bit too harsh, piercing right through its skull.
Now, with an extra hole in it, he wasn’t sure if it would decrease its value.
The horn was quite nice; Zheng Yichen tested it and found it very sturdy. It seemed it could be crafted into a short sword or a dagger.
Its tongue was also impressively tough, strong enough to cause muscle strains and bone fractures in his arm, which attested to the strength of this material.
When Zheng Yichen tugged it, it was like pulling a rubber band, maintaining its original strength even after the one-horned mule’s death.
As for the rest... well, there wasn’t much else. Surely, he couldn’t use it to make a roasted mule’s head, could he?
A few hours later, Zheng Yichen arrived at the Night Banquet Bar. After discussing his general working hours at the bar with the bartender, he didn’t think of going there first thing in the morning.
"Oh—look who’s here," said the bartender with a smile, bringing over a glass of water for Zheng Yichen. "You actually completed that commission."
"Lucky me, I almost got taken out," Zheng Yichen lifted his left arm, which was still somewhat impaired, and lowered his voice, "Has any of the related news spread?"
"Hahaha, wishful thinking," the bartender chuckled at Zheng Yichen’s words, looking at the much younger man before him. "It was just an unusually clever extraordinary creature; not that many people are paying attention."
"Alright then..." Zheng Yichen picked up the glass and began to drink, "I need to rest for a while, and I’m also looking to buy a vehicle."
"Seems like you had a rough night," the bartender said, noting the hint of regret on Zheng Yichen’s face. With a light smile, he added, "I can recommend a few good places. Remember to mention my name when you go to buy the car; you might get a discount of about 1%."
"Then I’ve made a profit," Zheng Yichen joked. The bartender scribbled a few addresses on a piece of paper and then went about his business.
After going home to change clothes, Zheng Yichen returned to Dusk Cathedral, planning to ask Hunter Arno to have a look at the mule’s head and give his opinion.
But when he arrived, Hunter Arno was still nowhere to be seen in the cathedral. Zheng Yichen didn’t just wait idle; he took out some prepared tools and started working on a quality piece of wood, intending to carve a set of mahjong tiles by hand.
"What are you doing?" Arno’s voice came over, the hunter holding a mahjong tile and asking Zheng Yichen with visible curiosity. Intuition told him this was something that would interest him.
