Chapter 268: Chapter 222 Jump Off When You Get There_1
```
There’s nothing wrong with participating in such actions, but don’t forget his original intention. Even though his physical condition has greatly improved now, and the ’Withering Disease’ that once troubled him is no longer a significant problem, the impact of that extraordinary power still exists.
It doesn’t disappear just like that. It is an issue inherent with extraordinary abilities. Zheng Yichen himself has grown stronger, so that influence has become weaker and can even be ignored, but if he were weakened, that influence could be fatal.
This out-of-control experimental subject is also a living creature, a prey.
Also, simply undertaking this task could fetch additional rewards. Why not do it? The two witches at home are now burning through money like crazy. After Zheng Yichen had been away for over a month, he came back to check the bills and his head ached.
Ahn Longling agreed to Zheng Yichen’s terms, "Of course, as long as the experimental subject doesn’t fall into other forces’ hands, it’s fine. Actually, it’s even better if it’s dead."
She didn’t go into detail with Zheng Yichen about the impact this incident brought. The out-of-control experimental subject had killed all the testers present. Because it had assimilated various characteristics of multiple creatures, the control devices embedded within its body didn’t work when it went on a rampage.
Even after its heart was blown out, it was still very much alive. As for the bomb hidden in its brain, the creature simply pulled it out with its hand,
It literally dug out its own eyes and in a very violent manner pierced a part of its brain, retrieving the bomb. According to the information recorded at the scene, while this method was brutal, it was very precise. Even though it damaged part of its brain, there was no substantial impact on the main body.
As for the blown-out heart, it recovered thanks to the creature’s strong regenerative powers, at the cost of the lives of those testers.
Ahn Qi’s elder sister, and the younger sister of Ahn Longling, Ahn Ke, had created an extraordinary experimental subject. It’s just that she was too hasty, wanting to test it immediately after completion.
This test had a significant impact on the Ahn family. Many of the dead testers had mastered excellent technologies, and among the security personnel, some were genuine local powerhouses. But they all died, and they were all Ahn Longling’s subordinates.
However, Ahn Ke didn’t receive much punishment. Firstly, this test was approved by the upper echelons of the Ahn family, not a private research project. That it spiraled out of control could only be attributed to an accident. But Ahn Longling felt that Ahn Ke intentionally concealed some information.
The success rate of this test was never going to be high. Those anti-outbreak measures were just for show. Had she known this, the security personnel she arranged would’ve been mere decorations. Let alone the strength she had, even most of the combat strength from Ahn Qi’s hunters group would’ve been wasted if sent there.
Punishment aside, the Ahn family had to admit that Ahn Ke truly created an exceptional lifeform. In the environment of Hazy City, it could exert overwhelming strength, and its physical constitution was like that of a real fire dragon.
The fire dragon under Ahn Qi’s care could ignore most gunfire attacks. Its scales were even taken by the researchers to conduct various bulletproof tests and proved superior to most bulletproof materials. If only the dragon’s scales grew faster, the researchers would’ve considered changing its skin every three to five days.
As for sniper rifles... that modified creature possessed an extremely potent reaction capacity and couldn’t be hit.
Super strong defensive power, regenerative abilities, adaptability, high-level combat instincts, and so on. Such a modified creature wasn’t unique. The main reason Ahn Ke escaped severe punishment was that this thing wasn’t one of a kind.
As long as the basic material used for research is good enough, one could create a similar modified creature, perhaps even surpassing it. If the material is substandard, then the difference lies only in its combat abilities and physical strength, but the gap won’t be enormous.
One can imagine that once this modification technology is perfected, and if some of the modifications are curtailed for practicality, it would still represent a significant enhancement. More importantly, Ahn Ke’s research involved a change in the lifeform level.
"From the perspective of interests, you would prefer it alive, right?" Ahn Longling’s words made Zheng Yichen somewhat puzzled.
"No, I think someone has withheld information, so it’s better off dead," Ahn Longling shook her head. In any case, Ahn Ke’s report had already mentioned that the thing wasn’t unique, so it didn’t matter whether it was dead or alive.
"Understood." Zheng Yichen had no objections. Capturing a living subject and killing one carried different difficulties, and obviously, killing an experimental subject was much easier. "When do we set off?"
"Now."
"You guys really mean business."
"More than one force has set their sights on that experimental subject. The sooner we act, the better," Ahn Longling said earnestly.
"Then let’s set off now." Zheng Yichen picked up a long bag lying nearby. For a fine young man, carrying a fishing rod out the door is a perfectly normal thing, right?
He just didn’t anticipate leaving so soon, "I’ll swing by my place on the way out. I need to pick up something else."
"No problem."
After swinging by his home, Zheng Yichen went to the witch’s workshop, "Eileena, I need some heavy-duty stuff."
"?" The Forest Witch looked at Zheng Yichen, who was in a hurry, not quite understanding, "What are you going up against?"
"An out-of-control experimental subject."
```
For the sake of rigor, she inquired for some additional information and then retrieved some items from a transparent storage cabinet: "Since the subject is related to a fire dragon, we can dispense with items related to the fire attribute. You can use these as you see fit; they’re foolproof."
"You don’t need to say the last part. Although I’m not well-versed in magic, I at least have some pertinent knowledge."
Eileena shook her head: "A little knowledge is more dangerous than none at all."
She explained the items handed to Zheng Yichen: "This is for restricting the recovery abilities, this one limits movement, and this is a Magic Potion I attempted to make with the Red Star Rock Ore you brought back. It’s best not to use it unless necessary."
"How so?" Zheng Yichen eyed the small vial, the size of a little finger, which contained a red liquid that seemed to be boiling.
"It’s too unstable. I’ve only been studying that ore for less than ten days; even with Katrina’s assistance, it’s not possible to produce a stable and mature Magic Potion in such a short time. This potion could greatly enhance an individual’s potential, but it would come at the cost of their health and Life Force."
"Better safe than sorry." Zheng Yichen put the potion away, as for those restrictive items, he was sure they were Curse artifacts made with his hair.
When used, one merely has to throw them and the Curse artifact would wrap around the target, imposing continuous restrictions and effects.
"Let’s depart."
After Zheng Yichen’s return, Ahn Qi told the driver: "Let’s depart."
After leaving Hazy City, they boarded a private plane. Their destination was far from Hazy City. The out-of-control subject, although not overly intelligent, was smart enough to seek good fortune and avoid disaster; it was much more dangerous near Hazy City.
Upon learning the monster’s whereabouts, Zheng Yichen was speechless: "How did you find this thing?"
Ahn Qi explained: "The subject uncontrollably secretes a kind of pheromone."
The place where the subject was hiding was not deep in the forests but rather near a city: "The subject has been in a state of hunting and feeding recently."
Ahn Longling described the subject’s behaviors: "My people have confirmed it. It only recently approached this city. The initial activities were all in the wild. The animals it hunted were mostly devoured, and the major portions of meat were taken. After reconstructing the scenes, we determined that the subject has a preference for brains."
"From some traces, we can see it’s getting smarter. Initially, it just moved about aimlessly, leaving obvious traces; recently, it began concealing its tracks and has even tried to erase the pheromones it secretes."
"Its choice to move closer to the city is probably because the brains of wild beasts no longer satisfy the subject’s needs."
Ahn Longling presented a bottle of eye drops: "Take this. With these drops, you can see the traces left by the pheromones, but they only last for two minutes. However, you can use them repeatedly."
Zheng Yichen tested the eye drops and found them quite satisfactory and not irritating to the eyes. As for the duration, he believed it shortened with the blinking of his eyes, which squeezed the drops out.
"Boss, we have arrived."
"Then, I’ll leave the next part to you. My people will provide you with remote support," Ahn Longling said to Zheng Yichen, as had been agreed upon.
The subject was too fast and could also vampirically enhance its healing by drawing blood. Anyone not strong enough who approached it would just become a blood pack. Initially, Zheng Yichen thought the bloodsucking involved biting, but later he realized that the creature’s method was more aggressive than he had imagined.
The subject could directly release a proboscis to suck blood from people.
"Just make sure your people don’t hit me."
"Don’t worry, it’s hard to hit the subject, but we won’t hit our own people," Ahn Longling assured.
Zheng Yichen clicked his tongue. That assurance didn’t sound particularly comforting, and then he noticed the pair of sisters watching him: "Is there something else?"
"The pilot said we’ve reached the destination."
"Then let’s go down."
Ahn Longling handed a parachute pack to Zheng Yichen. He stared at the object in his hands for a moment and said, "I don’t know how to use this... Never mind, I can’t die from a fall anyway."
After examining the few cords on the parachute and strapping it on, he jumped straight out of the opened aircraft hatch. Ahn Qi watched as Zheng Yichen, not long after beginning his descent, deployed the parachute and glided towards an unknown location: "I was beginning to think he would refuse to use it."
"I thought so too, but maybe he found it amusing," Ahn Longling commented just as they saw Zheng Yichen, who appeared to be quite frustrated, discard the parachute pack and start free-falling. With others, Ahn Qi might worry about whether they would die from the fall, but with Zheng Yichen, she found no reason for concern.
