Chapter 186: Chapter 157: It seems possible to fight with a gorilla_1
The sensation was utterly different from having six arms. As Zheng Yichen watched the Battle Maniac Asura emerge, he didn’t need a closer inspection; merely seeing the other’s silhouette allowed him to recognize the identity. It was a profoundly unique presence.
Meanwhile, Qi Xiangyun and the other two girls atop the Demon’s chariot couldn’t help but tremble.
They felt a strong oppressive force emanating from the Battle Maniac Asura.
"Not bad! Although you didn’t learn the martial arts I left behind, you found another way to become stronger, very good!" The Battle Maniac Asura swung his saber, dispersing the dust, gave Zheng Yichen a glance and said. He of course knew what changes would occur after practicing the Blood Asura, the martial arts he had left behind.
It wasn’t so much about being under his control, but rather, doing so would be too boring. It was martial arts meant for fighting stronger opponents, and having that kind of backdoor would always lead to thoughts of using it during combat, diluting the purity of one’s fighting resolve.
Zheng Yichen not learning the Blood Asura was somewhat disappointing to him. That martial arts was very suitable for Zheng Yichen, but while Zheng Yichen didn’t learn it, he had simply referenced the moves and became so powerful. This, to his surprise, was quite pleasing.
How could he be unaware of the unique traits of the Blood Asura?
That Zheng Yichen could utilize it to such a degree was his own skill; had it been someone else, they would’ve been dead long ago.
As for Qi Xiangyun and the others who had learned Blood Asura, the Battle Maniac Asura simply ignored them. Their improvement was decent, but too much of their enhancement was imbued with Zheng Yichen’s essence.
In the eyes of the Battle Maniac Asura, it seemed as if Zheng Yichen was pondering new ways to utilize his power whilst sharing the extra with them – changes brought about by giving them a part of his surplus. Powerful beings always have ample reserves, and amongst Qi Xiangyun and her colleagues, Zheng Yichen was absolutely powerful.
Liu Hongzhao’s changes piqued his interest slightly, but with Zheng Yichen here, he wasn’t particularly interested in Liu Hongzhao’s blood-transformed version of the Blood Asura.
"Come on, let me see how strong you are, the one who usurped a myriad of blood."
"Be careful on your own, don’t get ambushed," Zheng Yichen said to Qi Xiangyun, "Just move around nearby. If anyone dares to jump out, I’ll take care of them for you."
"I understand, Brother Chang Qing," Qi Xiangyun nodded gently.
Riding away on the motorcycle, which they now handled with ease, the fight that had not yet erupted suddenly began. The blood-red waves generated from the skirmish blew away nearby aberrant creatures. The battle-state Asura laughed maniacally as he wielded different weapons, each paired with a matching martial arts.
One of the sabers sparkled with crimson lightning, which would cause Zheng Yichen, if not careful, to feel agitated throughout his body, his blood Qi going numb.
Another long sword contained a Qi closely related to the Blood Asura.
What does it mean to specialize in a certain martial arts? That’s a consideration for mortals, but the Battle Maniac Asura didn’t need to worry about such things or, rather, he did need to worry, but he had ample time, enough to master one martial arts to the utmost before turning to cultivate the next. If not three hundred years, then five hundred.
The lifespan of strong beings in the Mortal Realm does not exceed three hundred years.
This guy... He could fight ten incarnations!
After dozens of exchanges, Zheng Yichen couldn’t easily get close as before, which forced him to retreat some distance and observe the Battle Maniac Asura. After gaining two more arms, the martial arts he performed became more comprehensive, rendering his attacks and defense watertight, fierce, and dangerous.
He hadn’t injured the battle-state Asura but instead had been hit numerous times. His battle suit was powerful; aside from some visible damage, it was fine. However, continuing to fight like this was not viable. Piling on a single path to death, the defense offered by the battle suit, no matter how strong, only allowed Zheng Yichen a higher tolerance for error during battle.
A high tolerance for error wouldn’t matter if his maneuvers were off; he’d still be beaten to death.
Without hesitation, Zheng Yichen immediately unleashed the skills he had mastered over the recent days. The blood color covering his long spear lightened, and all the blood he had plundered from those aberrant creatures on his journey returned to origin. Although a considerable portion was lost, it was far better than equating it to selling game equipment to a shop for the standard price days earlier.
At the very least, it went from selling to the system shop’s price to that of a game black market dealer’s price – no matter how much of a rip-off, the returns were higher than directly tossing it to the system shop.
"Hahaha, being able to ignore the influence of different blood Qi, that’s why you’re more suited for Blood Asura," the Battle Maniac Asura laughed loudly as he sensed the changes in Zheng Yichen’s aura. Before, Zheng Yichen’s life essence had overflowed, a normal part of the Blood Combustion Transform to Origin stage.
Of course, any creature using Blood Combustion Transform to Origin, if they follow Zheng Yichen’s example and plunder a vast amount of different blood Qi in advance to replace the consumption of their own blood, will encounter the same issue as Liu Hongzhao. The residue of the alien blood Qi burned will accumulate in the body as excess toxins, which over time will morph into a significant hidden danger.
Zheng Yichen seemed to have ignored that issue or perhaps his constitution was simply too robust, suppressing the problem. Indeed, his physical resilience was exceptional, and even though he was protected by his battle suit, he managed to remain standing steady after being hit multiple times by his own body.
Had it been one of those more fragile Supreme Demons, they might already be spitting blood at this point.
The Blood Combustion Transform to Origin that Zheng Yichen was maintaining had been reversed into a Return to Origin technique by him. He could utilize this method as well, but there was no need for him to do so. The prerequisite for this transformation to be beneficial was that it required an extensive amount of external blood qi supply for life origin. However, the way Zheng Yichen used it wasn’t something he would usually employ.
Unlike humans, he wouldn’t be severely affected by the accumulation of toxins from absorbing foreign blood qi, but having that stuff linger would still bring about some burden... much like having diarrhea. Besides, he didn’t need to do that.
Blood Asura was merely one of the martial arts he used, and this aspect didn’t require any perfection. That was something for those who had learned this martial art to consider.
Now, Zheng Yichen’s use of Return to Origin seemed to weaken the power of Blood Combustion Transform to Origin, but the Battle Maniac Asura knew that Zheng Yichen had a unique martial skill capable of Burst Mode. It added an extremely tough layer of qi around him that could directly resist spells and had a certain resistance to external attacks, though not very strong.
The true strength lay in significantly boosting his own combat power. The Battle Maniac Asura had contemplated similar martial arts over the past few days. However, due to the short time frame, coupled with not being in his true form when confronting Zheng Yichen and other Supreme Demons causing trouble, he hadn’t created a similar martial art. But after this fight with Zheng Yichen, he could try to develop a similar skill representative of Zheng Yichen’s current state.
Then he could spend a few years, decades, or even a century refining it to perfection, becoming another of his accumulations.
A membrane of twisted air exploded around Zheng Yichen, already tinged with a faint blood color from the outset. Clenching his fist, Zheng Yichen felt he could now go toe-to-toe with the giant gorilla, rather than being smashed and sent flying upon encounter.
Unfortunately, this state was only temporary. He had killed a large number of aberrant creatures during the warm-up; otherwise, relying solely on his inherent qualities for the fight, he’d likely have been bashed by the gorilla with two punches and sent flying after a follow-up hit.
Worse still, he might have ended up like Loki in the hands of the Hulk.
Let’s give it a try—
Zheng Yichen’s figure vanished in front of the battle-state Asura. When he reappeared, he was already at the Battle Maniac Asura’s side. A frontal attack meant facing a barrage from eight arms, but on the side, the number of arms he faced was halved. He wanted to move to the rear, but his light body movement skills were not yet refined enough.
Moving at ultra-high speed did not allow for swift, sharp turns.
The side was his limit. One of the Battle Maniac Asura’s four arms blocked Zheng Yichen’s long spear, while the other three struck at him with different martial arts.
The Battle Maniac Asura’s weakness... Zheng Yichen had been constantly searching, but the result of his search was that he couldn’t find one. Each of the Asura’s arms could execute a different martial art, but each martial art wasn’t limited to its corresponding arm, nor could he utilize only eight martial arts with his eight arms.
The number of martial arts he had mastered meant he could employ as many as needed; each arm could perform any of them, and the arts used by the arms could change. For instance, the arm wielding a sword used the martial technique Blood Asura, and Zheng Yichen even detected the scent of Blood Sacrifice. However, the Blood Sacrifice emitted could be immediately switched to a martial technique with crimson-lightning.
This creature was a no-dead-angle, full-range fighting machine. If it spun in place like a big windmill, it would deliver eight times the output of those leg-rotating windmills due to having eight arms. Each arm’s martial technique was a powerful output during the spin.
In the rapid clashing of weapons, Zheng Yichen’s spear scattered the crimson lightning, the sea-wave-like Sword Qi, the blood-colored saber Qi, and kicked away a broad executioner’s blade with a force like a volcanic eruption. His black spear also completely shattered for the most part, revealing the fishing rod inside. The tip of the fishing rod swept beneath the Battle Maniac Asura’s ribs.
Leaving a shallow trail.
The blood drawn was absorbed by the fishing rod. Parts of the black spear had collapsed, but as the implement of the weapon, Zheng Yichen could still utilize Blood Sacrifice, forcibly wresting the enemy’s blood. Against an entity like the Battle Maniac Asura, it was clear that draining blood from a distance wouldn’t work. The opponent’s resistance was too strong.
But blood that had left the body was different; it was easily licked away once drawn, and as the black spear was refurbished, the blood drawn was quickly absorbed and transformed into new feedback.
The Battle Maniac Asura was unlike the Asura Demon. What he faced now was the original, a Supreme Demon of this world.
The blood gained from wounding the opponent surely couldn’t be wasted. What’s more, the convenience of martial techniques meant they remained usable unlike spells which couldn’t be used after Burst Mode.
In this state, he could employ his techniques just as they were meant to be used, just without the assistance of "magic" to gather blood on a large scale to replace some of the consumption.
