Chapter 162: Chapter 146 Rematch_1
Dusk is a very special power; their people once obtained weapons from the Dusk mercenaries. Some forge masters who examined them praised them highly. The construction of these items was flawless, as if the weapons were naturally formed and had grown into their final shape. The treatment of materials and all else had reached the pinnacle.
It was a level of craftsmanship they would find hard to match in their lifetimes.
That’s the advantage of Dusk mercenaries. Without it, how else would these mercenaries get close to Dusk? Not to mention Dusk mercenaries, some of their own had been tempted... But some things, once done, preclude acceptance by Dusk. Those confident in themselves could, indeed, go and issue a challenge.
But even if they succeeded in the challenge, they would not become Dusk mercenaries; instead, they would become existences like Proxy Agents, completely bound to Dusk with no chance of escape.
Zheng Yichen, walking ahead, attracted some Aberrant creatures. These creatures, charging like pilgrims, roared and rushed over. Facing them, Zheng Yichen swung his black spear and plunged directly into the swarm of Aberrant creatures, scattering limbs and body parts in the air.
These Aberrant creatures could no longer stop his advance. In a brief period, he had slaughtered his way through them, mowing them down. He didn’t deliberately use the black spear’s blood-sucking ability; merely the touch of the blood on the spear as it killed brought him considerable replenishment.
Initially, he had only one weapon in hand, but then he ended up with two. He wielded the two long spears as if they were swords, severing numerous Aberrant creatures at the waist with each swing.
He used to have an issue with his dominant hand, but after dealing with some Asura Demons, he found that both hands had become dominant. During battle, he could effortlessly dual-wield.
Dual-wielding weapons is formidable, but it can easily backfire if not used properly.
Asura Demons—each one an Evil Fiend with the ability to fight with both left and right hands. After all, those creatures might boast four or even six arms; the ultimate is the 8-armed Battle Maniac Asura, and there’s nothing higher.
Without the ability to use both hands in coordination, how could one effectively use so many arms?
Zheng Yichen’s arms now both felt fantastic.
His complexion turned slightly red; enhancing his skill power by twenty percent with Destroy Vitality Crush Life wasn’t just talk—it was a tangible increase.
After all, it was an exchange of one’s vital essence for a greater burst, a stable increase. This kind of enhancement comes in percentages, and so do the injuries to oneself. If the cost were a fixed injury for a percentage increase, that would be truly impressive.
However, this Evil skill hadn’t reached that level. As for internal injuries, they barely affected Zheng Yichen, and the moment of consumption to invoke the burst increase lasted less than half a second.
Zheng Yichen, with his regeneration ability and extraordinary abilities of blood-sucking, could ignore such depletion in a group battle. In a one-on-one situation, if he couldn’t effectively wound the enemy, it would still be considered a momentary burst.
A twenty percent increase was already significant for him.
To put it this way, this twenty percent boost allowed Zheng Yichen to enter Stage 2 Burst Mode without his battle suit, in a bare state.
As for the Blood Sacrifice, Zheng Yichen was not adept in its use. It involved some Spell casting, and Qi Xiangyun had gone through a great deal of trouble to help Zheng Yichen barely master it.
After cutting through some Aberrant creatures, Zheng Yichen encountered some troublesome Asura Demons. These Asura Demons were also in an aberrant state and could coexist with the false alien phenomenon creatures without being affected by the environment—all of them were 4-armed Asura Demons.
"Hahahaha, you’ve arrived," a loud laugh came from the midst of the Asura Demons, and a 6-armed Asura Demon stepped forward. This Asura Demon showed no discomfort in the Alien Phenomenon environment and bore no signs of aberration; the voice was unmistakably that of a Battle Maniac Asura.
It seemed that if it wasn’t his true form, the Battle Maniac Asura couldn’t reach the state of having eight arms.
"Last time I didn’t have a suitable weapon, this time let’s have a good fight," the Battle Maniac Asura directly challenged Zheng Yichen, sweeping away some Aberrant creatures that tried to approach with an angry roar.
As the black spear in Zheng Yichen’s left hand dissipated, he only held onto the fishing rod to maintain the black spear. Seeing Zheng Yichen ready for battle, the Battle Maniac Asura laughed loudly, swung his twin blades, and the ground was torn apart by saber Qi, with two streaks rapidly closing in on Zheng Yichen, only to be dissipated by the black long spear.
Thin cracks appeared on the black long spear but quickly vanished without a trace.
Zheng Yichen, who took the initiative to attack, had arrived in front of Zheng Yichen as soon as he made his move, with six weapons attacking from various angles, resulting in a cacophony of metallic collisions.
A layer of Qi film burst forth from Zheng Yichen’s body, and the force of his counterattack suddenly increased. As a Supreme Demon adept in combat, the Battle Maniac Asura’s command over fighting techniques was impeccable, able to execute certain moves with every weapon in hand, whereas Zheng Yichen relied on his own speed and strength advantage...
Indeed, the advantage of strength.
The Battle Maniac Asura’s eyes widened as he looked at Zheng Yichen. In less than two days, the strength Zheng Yichen exhibited had increased significantly.
The Asura Demon race itself possessed immense strength. In terms of strength, they were somewhat inferior to the Bull God and Tiger God but still among the top, and more importantly, the Asura Demons were skilled with weapons.
In their previous encounter, he had observed that Zheng Yichen’s use of weapons was relatively crude, with mastery of only the basics of spear technique, reminiscent of someone with Innate Divine Strength becoming a Martial Artist later in life.
Within the red mist, several figures watching the battle discussed amongst themselves. They were gods and demons of this world. With the collapse of the Mortal Realm, the things that once constrained them were now gone. They could move freely into the world if they wished, and indeed, some had already eagerly begun to do so.
Those seeking revenge sought the descendants of the strong who had once sealed them, while those seeking amusement revelled in watching the uninfected people struggling to survive in chaos, displaying grotesque behaviors. Occasionally stirring the pot themselves, they could witness the ensuing collapse of order and joy.
They had heard that the Battle Maniac Asura had faced some difficulty at the hands of a human, so they came to watch the excitement, only to find that this human was truly formidable, even without using any impressive martial arts or spells.
The layer of distorted air that erupted from his body made it impossible for them to identify which martial arts were responsible, but comparing his power to that of the Battle Maniac Asura, who didn’t fall short, and his slightly superior speed, they understood why the Battle Maniac Asura viewed this human so highly.
Though the incarnation wasn’t as powerful as the true form, the Battle Maniac Asura’s incarnation could still sweep through thousands of troops. After preparing suitable weapons, he still couldn’t defeat that human quickly but sustained mutual injuries instead. Part of the Battle Maniac Asura’s attack was blocked by the battle suit on Zheng Yichen, while the Battle Maniac Asura’s body couldn’t withstand Zheng Yichen’s thrusts.
The rapid thrust didn’t ingeniously bypass the Battle Maniac Asura’s block but instead erupted with a speed that made it impossible for the Battle Maniac Asura to parry, leaving a through-and-through wound, from which very little blood oozed.
"It seems that the Battle Maniac Asura’s incarnation can’t beat this human," a dark shadow said. "This human might threaten us; I suggest we kill him completely!"
"Hmph, the Battle Maniac Asura certainly wouldn’t agree. If this incarnation fails this time, he will surely come personally next time," another shadow snorted with a voice as deep as a tiger’s roar. "If he fails in both fights, he will lose face badly."
"Perhaps... we could wait for the Battle Maniac Asura to be severely injured fighting him before we make our move."
The gods and demons weren’t unified but instead engaged in literal conflicts and competition. Sometimes they wouldn’t mind eliminating one or two of their own kind as it would also bring them additional benefits. While the types of gods and demons differed, their power shared the same source!
