I Am Also An Extraordinary Creature

Chapter 152: Chapter 140: What’s the Plan to Burn?_1

A massive creature, formed from a heap of extraordinary creatures, still capable of movement and possessing even greater strength, caused a larger scale of abnormal movement. Behind the monster, a host of other extraordinary creatures rushed forward, vying with each other to merge into one with it.

Zheng Yichen also saw some parts of the creature’s body collapsing under its own weight, revealing a dense cluster of tiny white dots where it broke—fragments of bone. Blood spilled over the massive monster’s body, and where it broke, the parts continued to melt and integrate into the rest of the monster’s body.

This caused the creature to become increasingly bloated.

The slight tremor of the ground allowed Zheng Yichen to leap back and avoid a sudden attack. A ground spike with many mouths broke through the spot where he had just stood, and even before it could retract after missing its target, Zheng Yichen snapped it off. After the black spear pierced the ground spike, it quickly withered away.

"...Disgusting," Zheng Yichen shook the black spear in his hand. If absorbing rotten and decayed blood made him feel physically sick, then this was more of a mental disgust.

Despite having one of its tendrils broken, the massive creature was still moving slothfully. Zheng Yichen noticed that the moving anomaly caused by the creature didn’t produce any additional abnormal distortions; the anomalies it created were more like conventional ones, except they lacked the channel-like characteristics of typical anomalies.

Some centipede-like tendrils burst from the monster’s body and smashed toward Zheng Yichen. The tendrils that missed crashed into the ground, shattering it. The recoil from the impact also shattered some of the heads on the tendrils, which made Zheng Yichen’s eye twitch involuntarily.

Surging green flames ignited on the black spear and flung onto the tendrils, quickly enveloping them. As the stench of charred flesh spread, Zheng Yichen moved quickly to another spot, setting more fires. Each time the black spear came into contact with the enormous monster, parts of its body became withered.

It was gigantic but made up of a mass of extraordinary creatures cobbled together; considered as a whole, it was innumerable tiny individuals, unable to effectively resist the blood-draining properties of the black spear. A single touch could drain a lot of blood.

Yet for the massive creature, such a large amount of blood was seemingly insignificant.

But for Zheng Yichen, the feedback and restored life force mattered, as he converted it into Hellfire. Such a monster was too easy to bully from his perspective; releasing Hellfire cost him blood, but he could rapidly drain blood from his target. This type of enemy was like a mobile blood bank for him.

The blood he drained and life force he recovered were all converted into powerful attacks that annihilated the monster.

The cacophony of screams mixed with the sound of the fire sent chills down the spine. Zheng Yichen’s head throbbed with the noise; after the monster was fully engulfed in flames and turned into a giant torch, the torch began to swell.

Zheng Yichen’s eyes widened as he retreated without hesitation back to his motorcycle. Ignoring the girl’s puzzled look, he swiftly rode off. A layer of wind cloaked the speeding motorcycle, and in Zheng Yichen’s wake, irregular mud walls kept popping up from the ground.

A booming explosion came from behind them, with the erected mud walls shattering in the onslaught. As the girl screamed, they too were blown away. The young girl, airborne, was snatched back by a hand. Her bright eyes were on Zheng Yichen, who erupted into a faint red aura, his hair standing on end.

Zheng Yichen held her with one hand while grasping the tossed motorcycle with the other. Once they landed, he set the heavy bike on the ground and put the girl back on the seat. The hair bolstered by the Burst Mode returned to normal.

In the sky, large swathes of green flame were visible, and the ground around them was like a Hell mural, covered with a mixture of flesh and crushed bones spreading across the land. After the massive creature exploded, it sprayed everything inside it that could be expelled.

High-speed flying flesh smashed against stones; some bones were directly embedded into the stone, breaking the bone and smashing the stone as well, all of it contaminated with pollution.

"You’re amazing! You can even kill such a huge monster," the girl said with bright eyes, looking at Zheng Yichen.

Through his filter mask, Zheng Yichen saw hope in the girl’s eyes. He smiled, "This is just the beginning; there will be scarier things later."

He sat down on the bike, ignoring the flesh and bones scattered around them, took out some food, and began to eat, handing some to the girl as well, "Are you hungry? Eat something first. You can put the mask on later."

The girl nodded, awkwardly removed her mask and started nibbling on the jerky, sneaking glances at Zheng Yichen from time to time, "Aren’t you afraid of that red pollen?"

"That stuff doesn’t affect me, but breathing too much of it will make me vomit," Zheng Yichen glanced at the sky, looking through the wind-formed barrier at the perpetual fall of red filaments.

After eating for a while, the girl continued to ask, "Are you here specifically to fight these monsters?"

"Yes, that’s exactly why I came," he replied.

"Can everything be restored to normal?" the girl asked with an expectant expression.

Zheng Yichen looked at the hopeful girl and shook his head gently, "What has happened cannot be changed."

The girl’s expression sank.

"But things that haven’t happened yet can be avoided."

After finishing the jerky, the girl put her isolation mask back on, and Zheng Yichen started the car. The wheels rolled over the flesh-covered ground, leaving a long trail of tire marks.

On the ground covered with flesh, the pieces of flesh began to stick together again.

"Damn... Are all Proxy Agents this formidable?" A drop of darkened venom fell to the ground, and as it spread through the sticky flesh, the flesh-covered earth quickly turned black.

A Dusk mercenary gazed at the remaining tire tracks on the ground. He had seen this huge monster before and had thought about killing it. Mainly because it was created by a Boundary Breaker he knew about, capable of merging a large number of extraordinary creatures to form a very massive monster.

It seemed to be targeting the Dusk Cathedral, and the thought of such a colossal creature, which had gathered hundreds of thousands, even millions, of extraordinary creatures marching towards the Dusk Cathedral, only showed that the Boundary Breaker was truly ambitious, aiming to strike at the Dusk Cathedral, taking advantage of the environmental edge.

This Dusk mercenary wanted to deal with the creature, but it had already been victorious over the climate, and he simply had no way to stop it. He had tried landmines, rocket launchers, and similar weapons, but the damage was as if it were just tickling the beast. Other forms of attack were insufficient in area of effect (AOE), rendering them ineffective.

However, when the creature encountered a Proxy Agent, it was directly burned by a fire from the agent, forcing the aggregated monsters that hadn’t burned to death to self-destruct.

"Well, this does make my job a bit easier," the Dusk mercenary concluded, leaving after ensuring that the scattered flesh on the ground could no longer stick together.

His poison hadn’t been effective enough to kill the monster before, but these remnants of the self-destructed creature couldn’t withstand the poison he had prepared. Just as the Dusk mercenary was planning to leave, his expression changed as he dodged an incoming attack. He cursed softly at his assailant and then his expression turned to one of mockery.

"Hahahaha, the type that bullies the weak and fears the strong. You didn’t dare to show up when the Proxy Agent was around, but now you jump out!"

The mocked Boundary Breaker, looking at the blackened earth, grew even darker in countenance: "I only left for a while... Hmph! Die!!"

The Boundary Breaker and the Dusk mercenary, failing to find common ground, immediately began to battle.

Zheng Yichen was still on the motorcycle, heading towards his destination. The location of the flower was very far from the Dusk Cathedral, with the journey itself taking about two days, which was quite a headache for Zheng Yichen. If he had a worse vehicle, it would take even longer, and more importantly, there was no place to replenish gasoline in this world.

Luckily, the motorcycle could be charged. He had brought a converter with him when he left the Dusk Cathedral, which could turn the lightning he released into electricity to charge the motorcycle. That was much better than gasoline.

In the evening, Zheng Yichen saw a town not far away, with extraordinary creatures wandering nearby. Clearly, this town too had been destroyed.

Looking at the distant town, the girl sitting on the motorcycle sighed wistfully. People from ancient times matured early. She wasn’t old, but she knew a lot. At her age, she could have considered marriage, but a natural disaster had changed everything.

Her family had mutated into monsters due to the red pollen, and such monsters were everywhere. The once prosperous places were no more, and as a result, the sky had become gloomy. She remembered that she hadn’t seen the sun since the mutations began.

Zheng Yichen made a detour, preparing to leave this area. With the world turned into such a wreck, it made no difference whether he was in town or out in the wild. He had a tent prepared, and its isolative properties were no worse than those of any house-like structure. He could manage fine on his own, but with an ordinary person with him, he needed to consider external factors as well.

"Brother Chang Qing, look there." Inside the tent, Lin Yaoyao peered through the transparent window and saw a firelight in the distance. She hurriedly called to Zheng Yichen.

"I see it," said Zheng Yichen, eyes narrowing slightly at the abnormal firelight: "Do you want to go over there and check it out?"

Lin Yaoyao hesitated for a moment, then quickly shook her head.

Zheng Yichen glanced at the time on his cell phone and stepped out of the tent: "Let’s go, let’s have a look over there."

In this world, the monsters created by the mutations were all insane. The firelight was very likely man-made, so it was worth checking out.

As they approached the source of the firelight, he deliberately switched the motorcycle to silent mode. The fire was lit by a group of unmutated people performing some kind of ritual.

It seemed they were planning to burn something they shouldn’t.
