Chapter 146: Chapter 134 Not So Hard to Study_1
"What’s the matter this time?"
"The things you brought back have been researched, and the results are quite good," Ahn Qi said directly, "Also, my sister wants to talk to you alone."
Zheng Yichen could see her reluctance, but unfortunately it wasn’t due to fondness, but rather other reasons, "What would happen if I directly refused?"
"Nothing would happen."
That sort of "How dare you refuse me, man?" scenario wouldn’t occur, her sister didn’t place that much importance on this matter, otherwise she wouldn’t have just casually passed on the message, but would have sought out Zheng Yichen directly.
Her sister held Zheng Yichen in high regard, but this regard didn’t seem so determined that she must have him, Zheng Yichen’s current battle achievements were just hammering a fire dragon to oblivion.
Through that engine, her sister had already learned of some special ability Zheng Yichen possessed, yet this special trait wasn’t greatly related to the powers controlled by Ahn Longling. Her sister had this attitude, but Ahn Qi felt it was mostly because being too eager would not help in acquiring hot tofu.
Showing too much eagerness could make some things harder to obtain...
"Then please refuse for me, I have other matters to deal with recently."
Researching magic, training combat skills, and so forth, all of this needed to be done. He might not be able to learn magic well, but understanding it to some extent was necessary, as he may not get the chance to learn it later. As for Burst Mode, his physical constitution meant that without a battle suit, he couldn’t enter Stage 2.
But the more he used it, the better he understood Burst Mode, which felt like the Kaio-Ken Punch... it was a method that resulted in red energy bursting from the body, both putting a burden on it, yet as long as the body was strong enough, it could bear it.
The burden of Stage 1 Burst Mode on Zheng Yichen was small, mainly just a limitation in duration, and with special powers, there’s always a limit when continuously consumed. Stage 2 was a high load - it seemed to be burning the vitality of one’s own cells, transforming it into a power-enhancing phenomenon.
The more Zheng Yichen researched this power, the more useful he felt it was. As long as his physical constitution was robust enough, Burst Mode could continually break the limits of how much it could enhance his strength.
And for him, improving his physical constitution was relatively easy, plus Burst Mode also offered high resistance against energy-based abilities. Although after using it, abilities like controlling elements became unusable, external attacks of this type had little chance of harming him easily.
"Alright," Ahn Qi nodded, considerably cheered up, "Let’s go, to the research institute."
She drove her car to the parking lot, taking Zheng Yichen to the Ahn family’s research institute in Hazy City, the same place Zheng Yichen had visited before. In the observation room, he saw a car without wheels, it looked very ’rough’, without a shell, exposing many wires.
"You’ve researched it so quickly?" Zheng Yichen was somewhat surprised.
"Of course, the Ahn family has no small understanding of Alien Phenomena, constantly in touch with worlds connected to alien phenomena, so it’s not difficult to research these things," Ahn Qi felt Zheng Yichen underestimated her family. They indeed didn’t have suspension car technology, but they weren’t lacking in other advanced technologies.
The technology of suspension cars filled a gap for the Ahn family, and researching it was not difficult. Once they had the research, the Ahn family could then attempt to equip their exoskeleton armor with this floating technology.
Ahn Qi received a lot from the technology brought by that engine, even if her sister took away part of this time’s gains.
"You dismantled it too thoroughly, and many parts were not brought back, otherwise, the research could have been faster," Ahn Qi glanced at Zheng Yichen as she spoke. The suspension car contained very advanced technology, and apart from the main engine, the other accessories also held significant research value.
The energy system of the suspension car was very advanced, as well as the design of the onboard computer and computer systems, etcetera, these could effectively enhance the intelligent programs built into some of the world’s exoskeleton armors.
"At the time, I didn’t have the conditions to bring back those things intact, huh, I remember there was also a robot."
"...I think that robot was more important," Ahn Qi didn’t know what kind of robot Zheng Yichen was talking about, but his additional mention meant it wasn’t a crude piece of junk.
"But I think leaving that robot in that world was more appropriate."
"Oh? Then I won’t ask anymore." Ahn Qi didn’t pursue the matter any further, knowing that while Zheng Yichen had the capability to return from the Alien Phenomenon world, he might not be able to go back. Concerning what was missed now had little significance, the suspension car before them seemed more promising.
What they saw now was a concept product, but after making this one, once the related technology was fully digested, it could be completely put into use, "Suspension cars don’t have to be made without wheels, having wheels can actually be more convenient on some roads."
Ahn Qi briefly mentioned possible future products that the Ahn family might develop, providing Zheng Yichen with an early primer on performance issues. According to their research, the speed of suspension cars could surpass most transportation methods in their world, excluding airplanes.
But that kind of speed didn’t necessarily need to be applied to the general public. Suspension technology could be used on some difficult roads, while on most roads, it was better to use car wheels.
Suspension cars could massively change the traffic rules of this world.
In the past, some map navigation could maliciously send people into a river; once suspension car technology became widely used, if the navigation misbehaved, one would need to consider if their car model was the issue – perhaps the route planned by the navigation map matched a flying car.
Upon encountering a river, one could simply soar over using suspension technology, then continue on the normal road. Of course, even if faced with a malicious map, the technology could allow one to cross certain obstacles with ease.
The world Zheng Yichen had acquired this car from had an extremely high level of technological development, already usable for civilian purposes, and would only be more potent for military use. Encountering worlds related to high-end forces, Hazy City didn’t need to worry too much.
The formidable beings from those worlds dare to come here, we dare to fight. The fire dragon is an excellent example; it came over and got thoroughly trounced by Zheng Yichen.
But when facing those high-tech worlds... we can only hope that their reaction speed isn’t fast enough because if a load of high-end tech weapons rolls over us, even with environmental adjustments, they won’t be any weaker.
What if the other side gets tough and sends over a war battleship?
This actually sparks anticipation. Why? Because if tech weapons can come over while maintaining their strength, the people inside them might not have sufficient adaptability. No matter how sophisticated a tech weapon is, it needs a human to operate it, right? Fully intelligent? Well... there’s not much to say about that. If they come with ill intent, we’ll just have to fight as hard as we can.
Wait for the alien phenomenon to vanish before doing anything else.
Ahn Qi even suspects that Zheng Yichen was a car thief in some world linked to an alien phenomenon.
In fact, to avoid setting off the car alarm, he completely dismantled the vehicle into pieces.
"I just want to know, how much longer until I can use this car?"
"About two months." Ahn Qi gave a specific timelime, "You can just come by to pick up the car then."
"Two months, huh. That’s not a problem."
A week later, Zheng Yichen received a call, the contact saved as fire dragon.
"Hello? Are you there? Come play some video games with me."
"?? What the heck?" Zheng Yichen, who was working out, was instantly startled, "Video games? You mean real-life combat?"
"Ah? No, no, no, just normal video gaming. Nobody will play with me anymore."
"What happened?"
Has this dragon adapted to this world so quickly?
"They say I’m cheating." The fire dragon said a bit angrily, "I earned my score fair and square. How can they accuse me of cheating??"
Oh, this fire dragon must be playing FPS games. Its reaction speed is definitely not slow. That dragon’s size is evident, a body length of over ten meters, and during battle, from claws to tail tip, it was highly agile, no slowness at all.
"Haven’t you been out on any hunters group missions recently?"
"Missions? I’m still recovering from my injuries." The fire dragon yawned, feeling quite plump now, as its torn scales were beginning to heal and new scales were growing in the severely damaged areas, soon to be replaced.
There were also welding marks on his body, indicating some idle researchers really tried to fix his scales with a welding torch, and apparently, the results weren’t half bad. But in the dragon’s view, it was pointless.
Welded scales didn’t mean they were fully restored; it was just a temporary fix for the cracks, which would soon be replaced by new scales, no different than shedding fingernails.
"Hurry up and play... hello? Hello?" The fire dragon clicked his tongue in displeasure as he looked at the phone that had been hung up on him. Now, his phone wasn’t the little dinky one anymore, but a super-sized model that fit his claws perfectly.
Its performance was far superior to any computer on the market, not to mention its battery life trumped all other mobile phones.
It was his tailor-made phone, but the fire dragon was well aware that such treatment came at a price: the freedom to move about would come later, but that required time.
Regularly he was subjected to blood draws, and his shed scales and claws were collected—a minor inconvenience as no one would have kept those discarded scales and claws otherwise. Those were minor issues. The major part was that in the future, he’d have to join the hunters group on missions to other Alien Phenomenon worlds, to either show support or even to fight.
To prevent him from fleeing to an Alien Phenomenon world, they equipped him with some extra ’gear’—definitely not the good kind.
After some serious thought, the fire dragon reckoned it wasn’t too bad overall. In the few days he’d been here, he’d learned quite a bit about alien phenomena, which disappear after a few hours. If he didn’t return, he would never get back. But as some staff had said, he enjoyed privileged treatment in his daily life here.
In an unfamiliar Alien Phenomenon world, he would likely face being hunted down. As for surrendering? Surrendering did not guarantee the kind of treatment he received in Hazy City, which was unique. Alien phenomena weren’t common in other worlds, but Hazy City was a high-frequency alien phenomenon zone. Without exaggeration, new phenomena appeared every day.
So, Hazy City had its Alien Phenomenon hunters group, unlike other worlds. What’s more important, Ahn Qi promised him that if he encountered an alien phenomenon related to his own world, he could return home.
That was what truly appealed to the fire dragon. In a high-frequency alien phenomenon zone, there was still a chance to encounter a phenomenon linked to his world. Time? Time was not an issue. As a dragon, what he had the most was time.
"This dragon sure fell from grace quickly..." After hanging up the phone, Zheng Yichen picked up the barbell beside him again. The new workout equipment was in the yard, courtesy of the Ahn family’s connections, which were incredibly convenient.
Everyday items could be easily obtained, and they were all Ahn family-certified—like this workout equipment, developed by the family with high-quality standards, albeit a bit pricey.
