I Am Also An Extraordinary Creature

Chapter 134: Chapter 124 Preliminary Test_1

After she was exposed to the internet, she also progressed with the times and learned a lot of modern vocabulary, like how beautiful girls and the opposite sex interact during the process, and the online wealth of toxic positivity and such, which she found somewhat moving. However, she also saw plenty of other information.

She knew that consuming too much of that sort of content could easily turn someone into a mere vase.

Zheng Yichen wasn’t some big boss or anything like that; he was a Hunter, a Hunter-Demon in her world, and a Hunter in this one as well, and both identities were fraught with risks.

Would she become increasingly useless if she turned into a vase?

"Can this place also serve as a living space in the future?" Upon arriving in the room at Dusk Cathedral, Katrina looked around the spacious area with some longing.

"This is used for storage; let’s start by sorting out the things here."

"Oh." The girl nodded, and together with Zheng Yichen, they began sorting through the miscellaneous items in the room, where she saw a large amount of jewelry.

"You seem like a giant dragon, having collected so many treasures," Katrina remarked while holding a jewelry box filled with a very dazzling Gold necklace, and another jewelry box contained a gemstone. Together, these items could be heaped into a small mountain.

It was as if Zheng Yichen had gone to another world and pillaged various places.

"Pick out the ones you like, I’ll exchange most of the rest for money."

Katrina didn’t hold back; since her man had said so, she chose some jewelry she liked and kept it. It wasn’t necessary to wear them all the time, but they were gifts from Zheng Yichen, and just collecting them felt meaningful.

The two worked for several hours, and the room’s contents were finally sorted out. The most abundant items were Gold, followed by some things Katrina couldn’t make sense of, like various teas and such.

Sitting atop the engine of that floating vehicle, the girl stared at a gemstone in her hand. Being a witch, she could sense the power contained within the stone.

However, she wasn’t proficient in the use of Elements magic, so she couldn’t harness the power from the stones directly.

At her feet was a pile of neatly folded serpent’s exuvia. She put the stone with its special power into her pocket and gently touched the serpent’s exuvia at her feet, "I can feel that there is a cyclical power contained within these serpent sheds."

"Cyclical power? Can it be utilized?"

Katrina hesitated for a moment, then nodded, "I need to go back and consult Eileena."

Zheng Yichen, with his hands on his hips, looked over the neatly arranged room, noting that shelves and other things would need to be added in the future to manage the clutter of items.

Back at their living space, the two witches pondered over the materials Zheng Yichen had brought back. Zheng Yichen casually brewed tea on the side, eager to use the fine items he had taken from Oma’s estate on the people around him.

"The cyclical power within these serpent sheds harbors a unique vitality. We can try crafting something rejuvenating from them, possibly able to bring the dead back to life," Forest Witch Eileena said. "But both Katrina and I aren’t skilled at crafting magic tools."

The power within the serpent’s exuvia was mysterious; however, it was almost useless to her and Katrina. The magic both of them practiced had little to do with serpent sheds, making it difficult to harness the power within, unless they had a breakthrough in their magic abilities in the future.

"Just carrying these serpent sheds can exert a certain amount of power."

"Then make them into clothes later."

"The durability of this serpent’s exuvia is quite good, but making it into clothing is not so easy," Eileena noted, holding a piece of the exuvia. The size of the serpent could be inferred from the thickness and excellent resilience of the exuvia, which, unlike normal serpent skin, did not become fragile after drying out.

"It’s not a big issue, the pure crafting process is still manageable. Come, have some tea," Zheng Yichen said as he poured the brewed tea into cups.

The two witches once again experienced the wonders of the world. Katrina didn’t change much, but the transformation in the Forest Witch Eileena was quite evident. She reached out to touch her face and couldn’t help but laugh, "I really do look like a witch from some stories now."

The witches in her world were not long-lived. Although they could maintain a younger appearance for an extended time, they still had to die when their time came.

"Tonight, Eileena and I will go out for a bit."

"?" Katrina looked at Zheng Yichen with some confusion, then glanced at Eileena’s much younger face, her little face puffing up with air.

"Alright, you can come too."

The young girl’s eyes instantly widened, and then she became somewhat shy...

Zheng Yichen saw the girl’s reaction and the corners of his mouth twitched almost imperceptibly. Perhaps it was because they had not seen each other for so long that their interactions over the past few days had been very intimate. A normal outing had led her to think of abnormal things.

But this time he really wasn’t thinking of anything else. Even though Eileena had become much younger due to that tea, there were some things not meant to be done just by running off into the night. He wasn’t that untamed.

The reason he asked Eileena to go out was to make use of her necromantic skill.

Nightfall, on the edge of the southern forest.

Zheng Yichen took out the bait he had used before, which had turned a pale red after previous uses but still retained its effectiveness.

If Zheng Yichen hadn’t used the wind to contain the surroundings, some extraordinary creatures within the southern forest probably wouldn’t have been able to resist coming out.

"Do you feel anything, like a desire to eat this?" he asked.

"No," Katrina replied immediately after examining the pale red ball in Zheng Yichen’s hand, shaking her head. She just found the scent emanating from it quite pleasant and nothing more.

"Good," Zheng Yichen said as he looked at the pale red ball in his hand. He was quite tempted to taste it himself; he felt like he could use it as an appetizer. He handed the bait to Eileena, "Try using this to release necromancy later."

"Do you want to use this to attract a large number of spirits?" As an experienced witch, Eileena realized Zheng Yichen’s intentions upon knowing the item was a special bait.

"Yes, a test first. It will be easier to deal with some special situations we may encounter later," he replied.

Zheng Yichen summarized some of the problems encountered during this mission, which was not making thorough use of resources at hand. For example, when dealing with the jellyfish, he could have been more conservative, returned to Dusk Cathedral, and had Katrina and the others make some blessed and protected items for him before he fought the jellyfish.

Even if crafting items was not feasible, sending the battle suit back through the storage facility, having Katrina draw protection magic on it, and sending it back would also work.

With protection magic, he could have faced the jellyfish without being so cautious, an aspect he had overlooked at the time.
