Chapter 127: Chapter 120 Waiting for the Destined One_1

Ratatat—The fierce gunfight was raging, and Zheng Yichen was annoyed by the noise.

He rubbed his eyes, stood up, and drove away from the place. Aside from resting here, he had another idea, which was to clear the bodies that belonged to the Alien Phenomenon Remnant Zone. Although those people were still alive, their souls were gone, leaving nothing but living corpses behind.

But now, whatever was happening here was definitely over.

"He is... wait, don’t shoot, no!!" Someone spotted Zheng Yichen leaving and began to scream. After Zheng Yichen had left, the two sides in the firefight breathed a sigh of relief.

They exchanged glances, relief flashing in their eyes. They recognized Zheng Yichen since he had entered the Alien Phenomenon zone before. Then, a huge explosion had resounded from within, and the phenomenon disappeared. They thought he was a goner, but now he had reappeared. Considering the massive blast marks in the Alien Phenomenon Remnant Zone,

what if they angered him and he wiped everyone out in a fit of rage? What would be the point of fighting then?

"Let’s call it quits," said the two sides in the gunfire exchange. Although Zheng Yichen appeared to have left, they didn’t dare to continue fighting. Given the size of the place, even if they wanted to fight over it, now wasn’t the time. It was better to first plunder the area thoroughly and secure stronger weapons before considering future actions...

Two dogs were attached to Zheng Yichen’s motorbike, one on either side, their eyes filled with terror from the vehicle’s high speed.

It wasn’t until the next day when it was light out that Zheng Yichen looked around at the environment and nodded in satisfaction. After stopping the bike, he quickly took out some rope and tied up the dogs. The two canines immediately showed a terrified expression.

"You two sure have a lot of drama. This is for your own good," he said.

After speaking, Zheng Yichen left the area, took out some bait, and the bound dogs immediately became agitated. The scent of the bait excited them greatly.

It also attracted mutant creatures and Zombie Evolvers, but there weren’t as many as before. Zheng Yichen had deliberately chosen a desolate place to use the bait.

Among the mutant creatures that came was a huge bird with wings spanning over twenty meters, looking like a Quetzalcoatlus from the age of dinosaurs. However, Zheng Yichen thought this creature might be even more formidable than a Quetzalcoatlus.

It was also the most powerful among all the mutant creatures. However, stimulated by the bait into a frenzied state, it didn’t completely lose its wits but acted as if it had a low IQ buff, forgoing its advantage of aerial combat. Zheng Yichen seized the opportunity and shot it through the head with one bullet.

After the bait was put away, its effect diminished. The Zombie Evolvers and mutant creatures, terrified, fled the death zone. The used bait had faded significantly in color, originally red but now faded to pale red.

It probably wouldn’t be useful if used again.

The blood of a large number of mutant creatures and Zombie Evolvers made the subtle withering traces on Zheng Yichen’s body disappear. Watching his skin return to normal, Zheng Yichen smiled with satisfaction. Although the recovery process was somewhat bloody and brutal, akin to some sort of demon,

the creatures he had dealt with were all a boon for the human race in this apocalyptic world. The more Zombie Evolvers and dangerous mutants that died, the larger the living space for humans.

Carrying two pieces of meat back to where the motorbike was parked, the two bound dogs showed expressions of having lost all hope. However, as soon as they saw the meat Zheng Yichen brought back, they perked up, their eyes pitiful.

"I don’t mind letting you eat, but I’m afraid you might mutate if you do," said Zheng Yichen as he opened two cans of dog food.

He himself started gnawing on the meat. The meat of mutant creatures was not up for debate; it was tough and usually inedible for ordinary people, as the virus could affect them. He, on the other hand, had no such issues. He had eaten quite a lot of it by now, and still no mishaps had occurred; he was as healthy as could be.

While eating, Zheng Yichen checked his body’s condition. The withering traces were gone, meaning he was now in full health. His mental state was exceptionally good—this was the feedback he had received after killing the jellyfish. Wearing the battle suit, the mental burdens had significantly lessened.

"Is that all? What about that immense pressure? Gone?" He checked several times, and with a bit of annoyance, Zheng Yichen grumbled. The unique pressure from the jellyfish felt amazing, as he could repel any external attack when it was activated.

Unfortunately, Zheng Yichen couldn’t feel that ’heavy pressure’ emanating from himself, which was somewhat disappointing.

"Let’s hit the road." Having eaten and recovered, Zheng Yichen set off with the two dogs, returning to the Dusk Cathedral. Killing the jellyfish had earned him +3 merit points. It seemed that the jellyfish was among the stronger Alien Phenomenon creatures?

After all, having dealt with Oma and the Alien Phenomenon behemoth, he had only gained a total of 5 merit points. Perhaps the Alien Phenomenon behemoth was worth just 2 points.

"So, do you keep dogs?" Zheng Yichen asked, looking at the two dogs at the entrance to the Dusk Cathedral.

"If you can provide a monthly maintenance fee, we can take care of them," said the younger of the two nuns.
