I Am Also An Extraordinary Creature
Chapter 121 - 118: Seeing Ghosts Again_1

Chapter 121: Chapter 118: Seeing Ghosts Again_1

Within the human race, there were Evolvers who were known to be very powerful, but as fierce as they were... oh, not that there weren’t any, just that they had the misfortune of encountering him.

In less than twenty seconds, more than half of their own kind had died. Observing Zheng Yichen handling the situation with ease made it obvious that he had not yet put forth his true strength.

As they started to harbour thoughts of retreat, Zheng Yichen brought out the bait he had previously put away. The unique smell of the bait spread out. Its allure was incredibly strong, attracting Zombie Evolvers from several kilometers away.

When they got closer, their throats and stomachs writhed violently, and their strong feeding instincts crazily stimulated their brains. Zombie Evolvers are fundamentally different from humans, acting more on a whim. Faced with such temptation, it was hard for them to suppress their overwhelming desires.

As the Zombie Evolvers struggled between fleeing and being rooted to the spot by their instincts, Zheng Yichen crushed the bait in his hand.

"Aaaaargh—!!" As the first Zombie Evolver fell into a frenzy of instincts, the remaining Evolvers couldn’t take it anymore, including the mutant beasts.

Watching the crazed zombies and mutant beasts around him, Zheng Yichen decided he could not casually use this sort of bait in the future. Its effect was too strong. But facing those rampaging Zombie Evolvers, Zheng Yichen was decisive with each strike, taking them down one by one.

Bodies began to accumulate around him, and a violent mood slowly started to affect his mind. His attacks became more ferocious, his hair stood on end, and the intensity of his assaults rapidly increased. Each attack created a wide shockwave, sweeping aside the mutant creatures that had been driven mad by the bait.

Zheng Yichen was stimulated by a strong sense of hunger.

"Holy shit..." As Zheng Yichen returned to his senses, his eyes widened. The violent emotions inside him quickly dissipated. He looked down at his battle suit stained with copious amounts of blood, then at the mutant creatures fleeing in terror around him.

As time passed, the effect of the bait had significantly reduced, and the influx of Evolvers and mutant creatures attracted later were not as strongly stimulated.

Watching Zheng Yichen’s killing spree, fear overcame hunger, prompting them to choose flight over food. Those that remained were simply the ones who hadn’t managed to escape in time.

"Was I also affected by the bait?" Zheng Yichen moved his throat, noting that the battle suit usually exerted a mental burden on its wearer, but it shouldn’t have affected him significantly while fighting. However, this burden combined with the bait’s influence considerably heightened its effect on him.

Zheng Yichen secured the remaining two pieces of bait. He had previously decided not to use it lightly, but now his resolve was never to employ it unless absolutely necessary.

And he wouldn’t be wearing this battle suit when using it.

He looked around at the many corpses, his black spear thrust into the ground, the pooled blood on the ground gradually dried up.

Zheng Yichen, somewhat troubled by the sight of so many bodies, deftly sliced a piece of meat from one of the mutant animals. Hellfire quickly cooked it, and he ate hungrily to satisfy his appetite before he started the formal cleanup of the site.

That post-rampage hunger left a deep impression on Zheng Yichen. How starved must that giant gorilla have been after he had forcibly endured nearly a week? The thought was quite cruel... but very fitting.

After cleaning the site, Zheng Yichen dusted off his hands, looking at the burning green flames in front of him. He once again found it incredible. Following the principle of not wasting resources, he spent quite a bit of time treating all the corpses, but the feedback was inconspicuous.

The extraordinary abilities didn’t care for some of the corpses that had been dead too long, only the fresh ones worked as they should, but for the corpses that were older, Zheng Yichen’s abilities had no reaction; he could forcibly absorb them.

But the feedback was a particularly ’bitter’ taste; this was the first time he encountered such a situation, which immediately made him stop that potentially fatal activity. The normal feedback would either be unnoticeable or feel as though the body had gone through vigorous exercise, very comfortable.

And a strong bitter sensation was clearly not a good sign.

"I need to find fresh ones in the future." After the Hellfire had vanished, Zheng Yichen, holding a cooked beast leg, began eating once again. The bait had attracted only mutant creatures and Zombie Evolvers, not humans. Incidentally, meat roasted with Hellfire only satisfied hunger,

and did not give him any temporary boosts from his new absorption trait. Meat roasted with ordinary flames, however, had some effect.

And this effect increased his overall strength by perhaps less than one-fiftieth; consuming more seemed to have a stacking effect, but the rate of increase was very low.

"So what was the point of the hours I spent doing this?" Zheng Yichen stuffed the remaining two pieces of bait into the bag in his motorcycle, planning not to use such dangerous little things again. After a nightʼs rest, only the next day did he venture into a strange anomaly in the distance.

In the meantime, several incidents occurred nearby. People in the nearby post-apocalyptic survival camps were panicking; their people had witnessed a massive outbreak of mutant beasts and Zombie Evolvers.
