I Am A Wizard Who Can Travel Between Earth And The Other World -
Chapter 104 - 106 A Night of New Alliances
The next gathering was swiftly scheduled—two evenings from now. Andrella Willex demonstrated her decisiveness, a trait honed by her experience managing both social events and business affairs.
The conversation at the party naturally shifted as she subtly redirected the focus toward Gin, noticing how deeply both Owen Freeden and Kyrie Lynchfield were intrigued by him.
Once Gin became the center of discussion, the atmosphere noticeably brightened.
Kyrie leaned forward slightly, her curiosity unmasked.
"The magic you used back when we took down that Needle Giant together—what exactly was it?"
Gin tilted his head.
"Which spell are you referring to?"
"All of them, honestly," she admitted with a grin, "but I'm especially curious about that attack where you merged magic and elemental energy. I felt like all my mana was drained the moment you unleashed it. I've never experienced anything like that before."
Owen's gaze sharpened, his interest piqued. Gin was a rare type of mage—someone whose spells were infused with both raw talent and inspired creativity.
For someone like Kyrie, who had been exposed to a vast array of magic through her powerful lineage, to be impressed by one spell was remarkable. Naturally, Owen wanted to know more.
"It's nothing extraordinary," Gin replied humbly.
"It was just a fusion technique combining mana absorption and electrical discharge.
The unique conditions helped—several ability users were already releasing their energy into the environment. Without their cooperation, it wouldn't have worked."
His explanation was met with wide-eyed stares from the group. Even Andrella, who had remained composed throughout most of the party, looked genuinely stunned.
"A spell that absorbs mana…?" she murmured.
Gin blinked, caught off guard by their intense reaction.
"Really, it's not that special. Let me show you."
He raised one hand, palm facing upward.
A flame sprang to life, flickering brightly. He lifted his other hand, and with a subtle gesture, the fire leapt from one palm to the other.
"It's a simple technique.
You can absorb energy from someone willing to give it, but if there's no intent to share, it's impossible.
Outside of rare situations like that battle, it's not very practical."
Kyrie stared in disbelief.
"You call that not special?"
"This is incredible!" Andrella exclaimed.
"Exactly! That's mana transference," Owen added. "With this, you could channel the power of multiple mana stones into a single burst of energy."
Gin chuckled softly, finally understanding their excitement.
"Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way.
The spell only functions with voluntarily given mana. You can't harness it from mana stones."
Despite his clarification, Gin's mind began racing.
He instinctively analyzed his spell, considering how it might be modified for broader applications.
Ideas came rapidly, and within moments, he was simulating variations of the technique in his thoughts.
Kyrie clapped her hands together.
"Still, there must be ways to innovate. Let's brainstorm a bit."
"No matter how I think about it, the best use case seems to be in large-scale monster hunts," Owen mused.
"Agreed," Gin replied absentmindedly, his mind already deep in theoretical constructs.
Even as he engaged in conversation, part of him was fully immersed in magical experimentation.
As the party wound down, Owen and Kyrie prepared to leave.
Rising from their seats, they exchanged parting pleasantries. Andrella turned to Gin.
"You've done more than enough for tonight, Mage Gin. You're free to head back if you'd like. Oh, wait a moment."
She abruptly left the table, returning moments later with a large, ornate box in hand.
"Here. As promised—the artifact."
Owen and Kyrie's attention immediately snapped to the box.
Andrella chuckled nervously, waving her hand as if to dismiss their curiosity.
"It's nothing special, really. Just a common artifact."
Gin accepted the box with a smile.
"Thank you."
Though it had been surprisingly easy to acquire, he was grateful nonetheless. Gratitude didn't cost him anything, and he could see that Owen and Kyrie were watching him closely, trying to gauge his reaction to the artifact.
Andrella made a mental note to explain the nature of the artifact to them later.
Outside the Willex estate, Owen didn't head home. Instead, he followed Kyrie's car through the dimly lit streets of West Ham. After some time, Kyrie noticed and pulled over.
Owen parked behind her and climbed into her vehicle, dismissing the driver to ensure privacy. The soundproofing enchantments sealed them in a quiet, secure space.
"So, what brings you here?" Kyrie asked, her tone guarded but curious.
Owen leaned back, his eyes narrowing.
"What's your game?"
"My game?"
"Why are you getting close to him?"
Kyrie smiled mischievously.
"Maybe I'm just curious."
Owen studied her intently.
"The family won't approve. You know that."
"Relax. It's not like I'm falling in love. I'm merely… intrigued."
"After meeting him twice?" he questioned, his skepticism plain.
Kyrie's eyes gleamed in challenge.
"And you? What's your excuse?"
"I want to be his friend. That's all."
"A friend?" Kyrie smirked. "Is that why you've stirred up half the vice-ministers in West Ham?"
Owen frowned.
"Don't tell me you've planted informants."
"Informants? Please. Information has a way of finding me," Kyrie replied nonchalantly. She studied his face and added softly, "You don't need to worry. I'm not planning anything drastic. I just… want to watch him, see where his path leads."
Owen shook his head, unconvinced.
"Just don't tell me you're planning to show up with some rare artifact as a gift."
Her expression tightened for a moment.
"And what if I am? The best gifts are the ones that meet a need."
Owen sighed and opened the door.
"Do whatever you want.
Just don't make trouble."
With that, he left, returning to his car and driving off into the night.
Kyrie watched him disappear down the road, a thoughtful smile playing on her lips.
'He's more protective of Gin than I thought.'
She leaned back in her seat, already contemplating the perfect gift to bring to Gin's home. The thought of his reaction made her smile deepen. The anticipation was already becoming irresistible.
The stage was set. Rivalries, alliances, and unseen ambitions quietly moved toward a crossroads, all centered around one man—Gin.
