Hunter of the Evernight -
Chapter 713: Help... me
Chapter 713: Help... me
Waves of change swept across the entire continent of Henos as the ascension ritual of the Jester was slowly coming to an early end.
Of the seven ages, four had already come to an end and three remained.
One would think that the end of the ages would be followed sequentially but yet again, the Jester’s power of fooling played a key role, allowing him to skip several set rules in a bid to quickly reach his desired end.
Of course, it was to be expected that with such speed, there would be... problems.
For the Jester, it meant nothing.
As long as he could ascend to Demon God status before the Goddess Khanna recovered, then all would be well.
With that in mind, the four Apostles of the Jester, all currently standing before the living map, had their eyes focused on the three individuals that were left.
One was an imbecile who found himself crowned as leader of a city-state.
Another was a lackadaisical fool who was unable to make a decision, instead always skirting the lines in a bid to ensure he never leaned too heavily in one direction.
The last was a man who, in his quest to create the greatest harem in existence, had ended up becoming a puppet of his wives and his court.
With the axe already raised up high, they watched as it fell upon them, seeking to rid them of life and end the ascension ritual for a time.

The Broken Saintess moved, its glass-like appendages scraping the earth as it slowly got on its two feet.
Its back was hunched, and its face, which appeared like an open four-petal flower, pulsed with life, and its circular mouth with rows of teeth, was quickly drenched with a viscous liquid.
The divine aura it radiated caused the aether to swirl around it, welcoming it with a celebratory atmosphere.
"So is that a Phantom or Demigod?" Alex asked as he stood a good distance from the newly revived deity, accompanied by Victoria and The Fixer.
"It requires faith before we can regard it as a Demigod. As it is now, though it gives off the false representation of a Demigod, it is still in fact, a Phantom." The Fixer calmly explained.
"I see." Alex nodded in understanding.
Taking a deep breath, he held Excalibur in one hand and approached the Saintess.
Noticing his approach, the Saintess ’glanced’ in his direction.
"I pay homage to the Saintess," Alex remarked, feigning a reverent tone as he went on one knee and bowed, paying homage to the deity.
The Saintess took a step forward, only to stagger as it was not used to its current body.
"I come bearing gifts." He remarked as he raised his head, ignoring the slight blunder. "I hold an item that holds the essence of the Artisan, a deity that once stood at the pinnacle of Eventide. I believe if you were to consume him, you would be whole and your capabilities would grow to unprecedented heights."
After saying that, he took off the cloth he’d used to wrap Excalibur and offered it up. "This is the item and it is my humble sacrifice to your divine majesty."
The Broken Saintess regarded the GodKiller in Alex’s hands and then Alex, its expression mostly unreadable.
Perhaps if it had a more human face, Alex might have been able to read a thing or two.
Regardless, he waited and soon, the Saintess responded as it reached out and took hold of Excalibur.
The moment it took hold of it, a powerful suction force began to drag it in but the Saintess did not try to pull away, instead allowing itself to be sucked in.
Soon enough, it was gone and Alex fell unconscious.
The last thing he heard was a frantic Victoria calling out to him, along with a worried Fixer.

The submarine fell without warning, slamming hard into the island and kicking up a cloud of dust as the entire area erupted in a deafening blast.
All mushrooms in the blast radius were torn apart, and those further away felt the shockwaves, causing them to distance themselves in a bid to preserve their existence.
By the time the dust settled, there was a wide berth between the crash site and the mushrooms.
Elena reappeared at the corner of the crater which was several meters deep, her expression marred with significant shock and slight fear as she struggled to manage her heavy breathing.
She was able to recognize the submarine as the same one she had left Ulysses in though there were subtle differences.
Perhaps the most eye-catching was the fact that it was covered with blood stains and pieces of flesh, which radiated a unique aura... a rather repulsive one.
Elena hesitated, thinking whether to approach or to stay away before finally, she came to a decision.
Taking a deep breath, she made her way to the submarine, not bothering to search for the entrance as she reached the cockpit and directly passed through the walls.
What awaited inside was a sight so grotesque that Elena froze in place; her eyes widened in abject terror as she struggled to make sense of it.
The entire area was covered with mangled flesh and twisted innards, all of which were covered in a distinct bloody color that added a sense of horror to the grotesque scene.
At the center of it all was a head and the head had the face of a person she knew quite well.
"Help...me." Ulysses drawled out in a hoarse voice, his eyes bloodshot and his jaw missing.
Elena covered her mouth as she took a step back, inadvertently stepping out of the submarine.
Standing outside, her body trembled until finally, she turned to the side and emptied her stomach of its contents, most of which was accompanied by bile.
This happened three times, and by now, her stomach was completely empty, yet the urge to puke persisted.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t all as it seemed the mere act of looking upon Ulysses form caused minor corruption as tiny tendrils began to form on the surface of her skin.
