Chapter 703: Erased from the map

The last thing Ulysses recalled was the horrifying pressure that accompanied the gaze of the Lord of Flesh and Blood.

It pressed down on him like an anvil, but instead of crushing him, it caused his cells to expand before erupting in a grotesque display of torn flesh and innards.

But then, he was back to his previous state like nothing ever happened, and as he wondered why that was, that horrifying pressure came once again, but this time, he survived the initial impact.

At that moment, he knew that the Lord of Flesh and Blood was staring at him, his curiosity piqued at the presence of a human in its domain, a human that managed to survive in its presence.

Taking a deep breath, Ulysses reached out his left palm and then, he waited.

There was movement, and for a moment, Ulysses saw some light at the end of the tunnel, but then, as his legs began to sink into the fleshly ground below, he understood that perhaps he had been too hasty in his celebration.

A moment later, he was devoured whole.

Even as he was caught off guard by Cybele’s attack, Ull had experienced enough battles to not let that singular attack spell the end for him.

Rolling out of the way to avoid getting shot again, he then used his dadao to strike the wall next to the door before using his bare hands to rip it apart, turning it into a makeshift shield while he charged at Cybele.

The scion of the Nester family grinned at the sight of a metal wall approaching her with Ull behind it.

But she didn’t dodge it and instead, held out the crystal orb she held.

The moment the orb came in contact with the metal wall, there was light... and then darkness.

Upon the realization that something was wrong, Ull dropped the metal wall only to find himself blinded by an incandescent radiance.

Shielding his eyes from the light, he struggled to make sense of the sudden appearance of the light while also trying to figure out where Cybele was.

Realizing that Cybele could try to attack him, Ull held his dadao at the ready.

Soon his eyes adjusted to the blinding radiance just enough for him to make out his surroundings as well as Cybele’s position.

Coarse black sands covered the entirety of the landscape, all glistening with a lustrous sheen that though captivating, left Ull confused.

But the environment was not the most confusing aspect of the place he found himself in.

Instead, it was the entity that Cybele was now standing before with an arm outstretched as though contemplating whether to touch it with a complicated look on her face.

It appeared as a large cube made of pure gold with strange symbols etched on its six faces and multiple moving parts, some of which rotated at various angles.

Ull didn’t know why, but he felt threatened the moment he laid eyes on this entity, which, for some reason, radiated a powerful divine presence, one even greater than the now-dead Berserk God.

"Cybele..." He called out warily but she paid no heed to him as she softly muttered.

"It has been so long, old friend. I never expected that you would have changed so much. I hope you aren’t mad?... Just like you, I was trapped... alone. But that will change soon. Soon, we will get back everything we lost and at that time, plans to destroy the bastard that took away our home would be put into place."

The golden cube seemed to have responded though all Ull heard was a discordant sound.

Regardless, Cybele chuckled as she replied. "Yes, I brought him for you."

"Cybele!" Ull bellowed, forcing Cybele to finally glance in his direction, her expression revealing her displeasure.

Before she could respond, though, a discordant sound was heard, and her expression darkened.

"It seems Kiesan’s plans failed to take into account an angry Ninmah," Cybele muttered. "Are there ways to stay the destruction until Kiesan fully ascends?"

A discordant sound followed, causing Cybele’s expression to shift yet again, as whatever she’d heard was not pleasant.

Meanwhile, Ull, as offended as he was, for some reason didn’t dare to approach Cybele as she stood before the golden cube.

But would he just stand and wait for death?... Of course not!

And so, ignoring the danger the golden cube posed, Ull rushed at Cybele but hardly had he taken two steps forward when his mind was flooded with information so vast and encompassing, for a moment, he seemed to hold knowledge of the entirety of Eventide.

Unfortunately, no one man could contain such vast knowledge, so Ull’s brain exploded, and blood leaked out of his eyes, nose, ears, and mouth as he dropped to his knees before falling to the ground.

Just like that, the self-proclaimed son of God met his end.

Meanwhile, Cybele remained in a conversation with the golden cube, ignoring the scene behind her.

"You would have to make me a temporary Apostle." Cybele suddenly said. "Can you handle it?"

She turned thoughtful as the golden cube responded with more discordant sounds.

"A conduit?" Cybele muttered as her eyes landed on the dadao that was once the divine weapon of the Berserk God, Zyagi.

Then, glancing back at the golden cube, she remarked. "That would do, right?"

Azazel watched in silence as the Figure Hidden Behind the Veil met its unfortunate end after hours of struggling to protect Henos from the Goddess’s wrath.

With its Authority exhausted, its body swiftly faded away, leaving behind a transparent cloak that fell unceremoniously to the ground.

He made no attempt to pick it up as he closed his eyes, imagining the scene outside.

Meanwhile, the veil that had kept Henos hidden from the Goddess Ninmah faded away, once again revealing the continent to the Goddess’s fury.

A moment later, a terrifying tempest descended, swiftly claiming the edges of the continent and reaping the lives of hundreds of thousands in an instant.

Pheripolis was not spared this destruction as it became the second city state since the creation of the Solomon Alliance to be erased from the map.
