Chapter 689: Divine Fallacy
Chapter 689: Divine Fallacy
One minute it was there and then the next, it wasn’t.
That was the case for Sayda as she was mere minutes away from Henos, having already laid eyes on its edge, but then, suddenly, it disappeared, almost like someone had used an eraser to delete it from sight.
She could still tell that it wasn’t gone, but it was most definitely hidden, which left her in a terrible mood as she was in a hurry.
Her projection that the map on Douglas’ back would persist till next year was terribly wrong.
If she didn’t get to her destination before the twelfth day of Astra, the map would inevitably be wiped away and Douglas would most likely perish along with it.
So, her current sour mood was warranted.
It didn’t help that a terrifying tsunami was behind her, a disaster she felt was aimed at Henos, hence the reason it disappeared.
She clicked her tongue as she muttered. "There was no reason for this!"
Unsurprisingly, the Goddess Ninmah responded, her voice echoing through the raging waves.
Do you feel I was impatient?
’Yes!’ Sayda thought inwardly as she replied. "Perhaps you could have waited a few more days to act. That way, I’d have ample time to get the Pearl and leave."
Do not fret; the entity responsible for Henos’ disappearance cannot maintain the concealment for long, and as it is, I am already seeking ways to remove his concealment. All you have to do is be patient.
"I don’t have time..." Sayda instinctively replied only to pause as she realized that she might have sounded rude.
A profound silence followed before a response arrived.
Be patient.
The next instant, the clouds above darkened, obscuring the rays of the Lightbringer as several flashes of lightning illuminated the seas.
Sayda didn’t hesitate to retreat back into the whale she utilized as her transportation vessel as she could tell from the terrifying vibrations in the aether that Ninmah was about to unleash her full power.

Azazel stood within the most hallowed section of the Assassin Guild, his pale eyes held up high as he gazed upon the majesty of the Figure Hidden Behind the Shadows.
It had always been hidden, only revealing itself when it needed to communicate with its disciples but now, it was out in the open for all to see.
Due to utilizing its full Authority to conceal the entirety of Henos, the Figure Hidden Behind the Shadows could no longer hide itself which placed it in a precarious state.
Unlike other deities, it was perhaps the only deity incapable of engaging in combat, after all, its domain was merely one of concealment.
It could do nothing else but hide and when faced against perhaps the second most powerful deity in Eventide, only behind Khanna, everything was needed to even last for a day.
Its eyelashless eyes stayed closed, even showing signs of strain as the gaunt body hidden beneath an invisible veil drooped even further, almost like the Figure was carrying a heavy load.
At this rate, perhaps it might not be able to maintain the veil for as long as it thought it would.
If that turned out to be the case, Azazel thought it best to prepare for the inevitable.
The fact that they might soon be sharing the same space as denizens of the deep sea.

The appearance of the entity with varying faces on its body caused the battlefield to go silent as the Hunters froze in its overwhelming presence and the mutants bowed in deep reverence.
This was an entity that was no doubt comparable to a deity, but then no one had heard of it.
For a deity to be unknown meant that it couldn’t exist; after all, faith and belief were one of the most important factors for a divine being to be born.
Yet the creature before them radiated the same authority as a deity, yet bore no divinity neither did it evoke any sense of faith or belief.
"A Divine Fallacy." Ana breathed out, torn between feeling the joy of an explorer discovering such a unique creature and the fear of realizing that she might have to face off against it.
Not many were familiar with the term Divine Fallacy; after all, it was only used in the highest supernatural academic circles to describe entities that seemed to be as powerful as gods yet held no divinity.
The First Class Otherworldly that had assaulted Ra’as during the failed birth of the Savior was also regarded as a Divine fallacy.
In any case, the creature’s many faces regarded everyone around it, scrutinizing them intensely with several seconds passing in silence.
Finally, it moved, its skinny hands digging into the earth as it rushed out of the hole it had emerged from, its many faces letting out cries of agony in the process.
These cries, mundane as they were, assaulted the psyche of everyone present with most struggling to regain themselves.
In that brief moment, several died as the entity used its hands to grab them before devouring them with one of its many faces.
With each person it ate, its body would ripple and bulge, seemingly growing larger and radiating even more of a domineering aura across the surrounding area.
Ana immediately grabbed Nadia and Arwen, intent on fleeing as she immediately understood that fighting against the creature would not turn out well for them.
Other Hunters that recovered from the sonic attack also had the same idea as they rushed towards the fog-covered area where the mutants were waiting.
It was better to face off against the feral mutants than against an entity that could be likened to a deity.
The only difference between it and a divine being was the lack of divinity, which meant it could be killed by non-divine beings.
Of course, that was if the person could first deal with its ability to seize control of the aether, preventing others from utilizing it.
With that thought, the battlefield descended into chaos with everyone fighting to escape.
