Chapter 614: Fountain of Knowledge

Eklir paused in His wanton acts of destruction as He heard a voice call out to him causing His attention to shift.

His gaze reflected ’Khanna’ with the latter staring at Him with a complicated look in her eyes.

Khanna!!!

Before she could say anything, He raised His hand causing blood to flow from the sky.

Everywhere the bloody rain touched lost its luster, further weakening the authority of the Goddess in her Kingdom.

Following that, He charged, crossing the distance in one clear leap before striking down with a cleaver.

’Khanna’ didn’t dare to take on such a violent attack as she dodged the attack, before proceeding to lead Eklir away from the workshop.

Her steps were swift, quickly arriving at the edge of Cinerath with its tall walls.

Eklir wasn’t far behind as He conjured an ax and sent it flying in her direction.

She didn’t dare to face this head on as well as she dodged yet again, only for Eklir to reach Her in a single step before swinging down with killing intent.

’Khanna’ raised her hands just as the cleaver struck her and in the next moment, Eklir was ejected from Cinerath.

His gigantic body floated into subspace causing the emptiness of the void to rush at him, quickly devouring his existence.

Of course, there was no way the God of Slaughter would go down so easily as he instinctively conjured his divine kingdom, protecting himself from the erasure.

Following that, a hateful bellow erupted from within the divine kingdom, reaching into Cinerath.

Another ’Khanna’ emerged from a pod within the workshop, her form looking even more mechanical than before with visible lines and unnaturally colored features.

A sigh escaped her lips as she understood that she had only two more chances before she would no longer be able to manifest an avatar with each chance becoming even more mechanical in its design.

Her eyes flickered as she checked the destruction Eklir had brought to Cinerath, further weakening her authority.

At this rate, even with the Fountain water, she would need at least a year to recover to her prime and that was if the Joker did not ascend, a possibility that seemed to be rising by the second.

To think that, things would devolve to such an extent within the span of a few days.

First, The Joker, now Eklir... her eyes flashed with rage as she knew that Eklir’s sudden appearance wasn’t by his power.

Which meant that someone had been messing around.

With that being the case, ’Khanna’ did not hesitate to make a move as she left Cinerath, quickly appearing within Irons Keep which was devoid of its owner.

She said nothing as she raised her palm, causing several brass balls to appear above the divine kingdom.

And then, they fell.

A series of explosions rocked the city forged of iron causing lava streams to erupt, quickly covering everywhere in magma.

Agonizing screams escaped the lips of the dwarves that persisted within the city but ’Khanna’ merely glanced at the city before taking her leave.

Meanwhile, within Eklir’s divine kingdom, the mad deity had no way of knowing that another persisted within His land as He single-mindedly chased after Cinerath as it floated within subspace.

Dhuhtia muffled the echoes that followed as He struck the GodKiller on the anvil with his hammer.

At this point, it was merely sixty percent complete but it was already radiating a terrifying aura that left him trembling.

Just then, He felt something causing him to pause.

Indeed, His hopes of getting back at ’Khanna’ had ended up backfiring but He didn’t seem to mind as He accepted His fate.

The only reason that bitch let Him stay within His divine kingdom underneath hers was a means to humiliate Him while taking His authority as Her own.

Even if She recovered, Dhuhtia was willing to bet that She wouldn’t be able to stop the Joker from ascending.

At that time, She would suffer the same fate.

At the thought of that, a satisfied laugh escaped His lips, echoing across the divine kingdom and drawing Eklir’s attention.

As the God of Slaughter turned in Dhuhtia’s direction, He watched as the God of Blacksmithing turned into a silver wisp that penetrated the GodKiller.

The sword exploded with a resplendent silver light, only to disappear a moment later.

Eklir stared at where it was before its disappearance, the madness in His eyes lessening for a moment.

Alex stared at the waiting back of the Fountain’s avatar.

What could he tell her that she didn’t already know?

If the Library was the manifestation of her Authority, then that meant that nothing in Eventide was new to her.

And if he didn’t tell her something new, then he would have failed in his task.

Letting out a sigh, Alex intoned. "I don’t know what to tell you."

"Then..."

"But... if you want, I can tell you about where I’m from."

Silence followed before the woman turned to regard Alex, her eyes radiating a sense of curiosity.

"Do tell."

"I’ll do you one better. I’ll show you."

Saying that, Alex opened his mind, letting go of everything to invite her in.

The Fountain accepted and just like that, she saw it all.

Earth, the blue star, is nestled within the Milky Way Galaxy in a universe far, far away.

By the time she was done, Alex was squirming on the ground due to the weight she exerted on his mind, while the lady could only stare into space in disbelief.

"So humans are capable of so much." She muttered as she stared down at Alex before reaching down to touch his cheek with a finger.

This helped Alex calm down enough to regain himself.

"Was that sufficient?" He asked breathlessly, struggling to make eye contact.

"Yes." The lady replied with a smile. "Yes, it was."

"That’s good."

"I will give you two drops and Mark you, allowing you to be able to reach me whenever you want."

"Thank you."

"No, Alexander Regulus. Thank you for showing me something different."

Saying that the scene disappeared, and Alex found himself back in the Library with two vials of water set aside by the side before him, along with the Knowledge of the Fountain.

He didn’t know why, but he had a feeling that as long as he thought of it, the Fountain would appear, which meant... he had retrieved the Branch.

A smile blossomed on his lips as he sat up only to hear a voice.

"Alex."

He slowly turned back to find Ana and Ulysses recovering from the knowledge that had assaulted them.

"Are you guys alright?" He calmly asked, struggling to maintain a calm composure.

Ana nodded. "Mn, I just have a really bad headache."

"Same here." Ulysses intoned before adding. "But it’s getting better."

"That’s good to hear," Alex remarked only for Ana to inquire.

"Did we get it?"

"Mn," Alex replied. "We did."

A relieved sigh escaped their lips as Ana collapsed back on the ground along with Ulysses.

"We also got this," Alex said as he picked up the two vials.

"We got two?"

"Indeed. It seems the Fountain was aware we would need two."

"Why would we need two?" Ulysses asked in slight confusion.

Alex managed a smile as he replied. "To figure out the location of the other Branches."

"How do we use it though?" Ana asked as she scrutinized the vial.

Alex stared at the vial briefly only for a thought to come to mind.

Under normal circumstances, he would have scrutinized the thought first but didn’t and instead, followed his instincts as he opened the vial and downed it while thinking a single thought.

The Branches of the Absolute One.

Immediately, his mind wandered.

First, he laid eyes on Nyx who seemed to be slumbering.

Then, he found himself in a strange hallway seemingly suspended in a strange space connected to various dimensions.

Within this space, he laid eyes on Ashtyx.

Moving on, he found himself in a great hall frozen in thick ice and covered with snow, murals of wolves persisted on the roof above and at the center of the hall was a cleanly cut diamond placed on a pedestal.

The scene swiftly changed, allowing him to set eyes on a terrifying beast that seemed to be the origin of all living creatures forced into the limited form of a man.

Then, he laid eyes on an incredibly beautiful woman chained in a cell with green flames about her.

Before he could make out her identity, the scene unraveled again and this time, he was staring at a sickly green aurora spread over a great distance like a veil seemingly dividing two worlds.

But that wasn’t the end as everything changed, revealing a gray world with a young boy no older than fifteen at its center, weeping profusely in absolute silence.

Then, it changed to reveal a beast covered in flames, standing before a furnace, seemingly serving as a blacksmith.

Following that was a large brain that throbbed as though it were alive, causing Alex to feel like his eyes were about to pop out of their sockets.

He gripped his head and fell to one knee only for the scene to shift yet again, revealing a strange island covered in fog with strange things floating overhead.

Before he could make out anything of note, the scene transformed yet again, as he found himself in a forest with strange-colored flowers and even stranger-colored trees.

It looked almost like a fantasy land straight out of a children’s storybook, something like Wonderland.

At the center of this wondrous forest was a strange golden sword.

Just then, he felt a gaze on him causing him to instinctively look up.

There, he laid eyes on it.

It appeared as a vaguely humanoid head and neck with an incredibly large ring of eyes oscillating around its neck and a crown of esoteric flames on its cranium.

A moment later, his head exploded.
