Hunter of the Evernight -
Chapter 595: Terrorist
Chapter 595: Terrorist
The eerie green flames conjured by Arwen, unquenchable by conventional means, wrought destruction to the cities of Kastarus, claiming millions in the process.
Those who were engaged in combat, like Hena and the mysterious steel Daemon, shifted their attention to the flames, sensing a potential that seemed to be dangerous even for them.
In silent agreement, they parted ways with Hena returning to Lothrusia while the steel Daemon swiftly made his way towards the capital.
Meanwhile, in the now sunken city of Albanum, in the sky above, Benedict’s expression was nothing short of terrifying as he stared into the distance, seemingly bearing witness to the destruction the green flames caused.
Charles and Robert seemed to have sensed something was wrong as they stared as well.
Though they could not see as far as Benedict, they could feel the potent air of death that now persisted over all of Kastarus.
Do you see what you have done!?... This is what happens when you trust those bitches of the Devil Wheel!... Those flames will surely turn Kastarus into a wasteland!
Charles and Robert exchanged looks, unsure of how to respond or even, how to react.
In the end, they said nothing and instead turned to leave.
Benedict watched them make a hasty retreat before turning towards the burning cities of Kastarus.
He rushed towards the Basilica, hoping to at least save it from the conflagration that he had no way of stopping due to a lack of Compatibility and sufficient Understanding.
Meanwhile, in DreamWorld, Nadia struggled to stay calm long enough to complete the last portion of her plan.
Even though Arwen had acted in an unexpected way, it hardly changed the situation and instead, seemed to be even more successful as the terror within the hearts of Kastarusians nearly left Nadia breathless.
She quickly cast a spell, erasing her emotions so she wouldn’t be impeded by them before proceeding to implant a thought.
It was a single thought and she did not target any dream shard within DreamWorld, ensuring that it was as randomized as possible.
It wouldn’t be long before Kastarusians were beset by the thought that the destruction of their homes was done by the Dark-Cloaked Devil.
As realization dawned on them and the terror in their hearts focused on the elusive figure, Nadia felt something within her.
Her hard work seemed to have paid off.

Elena found Arwen huddled next to a tree with a burial mound beside it.
No longer was she a desiccated skeleton covered in green flames, instead reverting to her human appearance with her signature silver hair and pale skin.
"Arwen." Elena gently called out as she took a step forward.
Arwen trembled as she heard her name, a whimper escaping her lips.
"It’s okay, it’s not your fault."
"... I was the one that decided to head to the Afterlife. I brought this upon myself."
"There should be a way to resolve it."
Arwen hesitated before she replied. "There is. But I don’t know if I have the strength to go through with it."
"Tell me."
"It’s the skeleton, Arwen. I have to save her."
"The one in your dreams?"
"Mn."
"And you know how to save her?"
Arwen turned to look at her before slowly nodding, her expression looking pitiful. "The Wailing Peak."
"Isn’t that..."
"The dwelling place of the Banshee. Yes."
"It’s risky."
"I’ll go alone then, " Arwen remarked before adding. "But no matter what, I can’t remain like this."
Elena pursed her lips before moving to embrace Arwen. "Don’t worry, we will go together. As a team. You won’t have to face this alone."
"... Thank you," Arwen muttered softly as she leaned into Elena. "Thank you so much."

/2 days later/
Arwen’s flames burned perpetually for two days before it finally died down, having claimed so much that it could no longer claim anything.
Unfortunately, the flames, before dying out, made sure to claim a whopping forty percent of Kastarusians while transforming the area it had burned into a barren wasteland, ensuring that even after a hundred years, Kastarus would not be able to recover from the disaster.
The disaster, known by the survivors as the Devil’s Inferno, was imprinted in their hearts along with a name that they would come to fear for years to come.

You did well, better than those that have come before you. Your actions give me hope that you are a suitable champion.
Lilith said from atop her throne, her expression masked underneath a veil.
Nadia knelt before her, having taken a trip to the Underworld to claim her reward for completing the Trial.
"Thank you, Mistress."
For your excellent completion of the Trial I assigned to you, I bestow on you the title of Terrorist.
At the same time as those words were said, the arched gate made of bones trembled before one of the locks fell, revealing the floating words, Terrorist, in deviltongue.
You have done well, child. Tell me, do you have a wish?... I would be willing to fulfill it for your sake.
Nadia trembled at the offer, her mind going places as she pondered whether to take it.
Finally, she spoke up. "I have none."
A part of her, perhaps the side that wished to emulate Arthur the most, warned her against accepting the offer.
In life, there was no such thing as a free lunch and it was even more pronounced in the supernatural world.
Lilith didn’t seem offended as she replied.
Regardless, I must reward you in some way. How about this?... I will allow you to skip a Trial if you so wish.
"Can I not use it now?"
Whenever you are ready.
"Then I would like to keep it aside for later Trials."
As you wish. Now tell me, would you like to begin your next Trial?
Silence persisted for a moment before Nadia replied. "Yes."
Render a hundred men destitute. That is your Trial.
Nadia nodded and then, she was gone.

/1 week later/
The port of Matamis was as lively as ever as several boats, large and small, prepared to brave the waves of the Azure Seas.
One such ship, a large wooden cargo ship named the White Oak by its captain, a fierce woman who went by the name Alice, was currently boarding passengers, intending to make a voyage to Henos.
"Are you sure they’ll come?" Arwen inquired, as she stood watching the White Oak slowly get filled up.
Elena replied. "Trust me, they will."
Arwen appeared skeptical but it didn’t take long for her worries to be put aside as Nadia and Victoria appeared seemingly out of nowhere before approaching them.
"Hope we aren’t late?" Nadia asked as she stood at arm’s length from Arwen, who averted her gaze, unwilling to lock eyes with her.
"No." Elena replied in Arwen’s stead. "Right on time actually."
