Chapter 378: The situation is like this...

"The situation is like this..." Alex began. "The Glory of the Empire is underneath the capital but to get to it, we need to get past the Emperor as well as get past the Blackgold gate. So, ladies, any ideas?" Alex inquired, shifting his attention to stare at the two women currently seated across the table.

He’d initially considered calling for a meeting but decided against it.

As it was, apart from Ana and Victoria, the others would be completely useless so there was no need to keep them informed... at least, not for now.

Victoria pursed her lips as she muttered. "I don’t know much about the capital or the Emperor considering there’s not much information about them. We’d be going in blind."

"I agree. Even with my jumbled-up memories of the capital, I have no idea what would be waiting for us over there." Ana had to concur.

Alex took a deep breath, pondering his options before remarking. "Fine then, let’s forget about the Emperor for now. How do we get past the Blackgold gate?"

"Also no idea I’m afraid. It’s the first time I’ve heard of such a contraption." Victoria confessed, feeling rather peeved at her incapability to provide any form of assistance.

Ana pursed her lips as she replied. "It reminds me of how the Catacombs are built."

"The Blackgold gate?"

"Mn." Ana nodded, taking a moment to gather her thoughts before continuing. "If I’m correct, the Blackgold gate should be created utilizing gold for its sturdiness and Quillion for its ability to annul all supernatural activities."

"And the Sigils?"

"Anti-magic wards."

"So basically, double authentication to ensure nothing supernatural gets in," Alex muttered before adding with a sigh. "Great."

"We could utilize explosives to bring down the walls around it but I have a feeling the Warrior Families might have planned for such a situation," Victoria commented, immediately feeling stupid for mentioning it in the first place.

Alex shook his head. "We can’t afford to think that they won’t expect such an act and most importantly, we have to get in such a way that the Emperor wouldn’t be alerted. I doubt a big bang would escape his notice."

"I could try moving through the Spirit World to get past it."

"Do you think it would work?"

"... No, Quillion has an uncanny effect that disrupts both the physical and spiritual. I might end up getting lost or appearing somewhere else."

"Hah, this might just be our most trying mission yet."

Just as Alex saw it fit to consider other options, Ana spoke up.

"What about Relics?"

"Hmm?" Both Alex and Victoria glanced at her, with the former gesturing for an explanation.

"Relics are known for one thing and that is their destructive nature. Perhaps, they might be one capable of destroying without sound."

"Are you sure?" Alex inquired.

"I wouldn’t have said it if I hadn’t already seen something like that happen in BoneHaven," Ana replied, recalling the situation that occurred with the Catacombs in BoneHaven that led to the creation of the Whisperers.

"But, aren’t Relics supernatural though?... Would they be effective given the nature of the Blackgold gate?"

Ana was poised to explain only for Victoria to seize the opportunity.

"Relics are enigmas in that though they fit the criteria for supernatural objects, their destructive nature seems to be a natural occurrence. Scholars have postulated that this is because as objects that survived prior fallen cycles, they ended up getting tainted by whatever ungodly force led to the cycle’s destruction."

"Is that so?" Alex muttered, slightly confused by the matter.

However, considering there seemed to be some progress, he was willing to accept it as it was.

"In that case, Andromeda, you and Ara will focus on figuring out if there are any Relics that fit what we wish for which are silent but deadly while I check on the others. Understood?"

"Yes, master."

"As you wish."

With that, both women quickly took their leave while Alex was left to begin plotting something against the Emperor.

He had no idea what, but he knew he had to figure something out to avoid the worst possible situation in the capital.

But then plotting blindly could only lead to him crashing headfirst into a wall or even worse, playing into whatever trap would be waiting for him over there.

Adam’s warning still rang true in his head and though he had said death would not be a problem, Alex was well aware that there were fates worse than death.

The thought of setting up another meeting with Adam to see if he could figure out more information about the Emperor came to mind but he ultimately kept it aside.

If it were possible, Adam wouldn’t have sent him packing as quickly as he did the last time.

Regardless, the meeting with Adam had at least given him an idea of the Wheel the Emperor was in.

Pursing his lips as he continued to meander through the little patch of information he had, seeking an extension, Alex soon paused, his brows furrowed as he came to a realization.

Perhaps due to how things ended on his last night in Cance, Alex had subconsciously avoided recalling most of what happened but now, realizing what he had missed, he delved into the contents of what transpired with a certain goal in mind.

Once he got what he needed, Alex knew where next to go for answers.

It was difficult but time and determination had allowed Elena to push forward despite setbacks.

So far, she had managed to figure out how to use her Dimensionality to shift locations but that was hardly enough to mean anything, especially considering every member of Constellations could teleport whenever they wished.

The desire to have something unique just like Nadia’s reality warping or Arwen’s pale flames drove her to keep going.

Standing before an apple placed on a pedestal, she concentrated, seeking to utilize her Dimensionality offensively.

Alas, her attempt only ended with the whole apple being transported.

Letting out a sigh, she massaged her temples while pondering on possible ways to hone her craft only for a knock on the door to snap her out of it.

"Who’s there?" She inquired.

"It’s me." A familiar voice came from outside.
