He gave off a regal air, one befitting a ruler no doubt but anyone with eyes could tell that it was a front, a sorry attempt at pretending to be something he was not.

As the King of the Tree Spirits, Platadoris’s tree-like appearance was no surprise, however, mushrooms leaking black goo told of a story, one that was easy to make out considering the state of the forest.

"You are corrupted." Alex pointedly said as he stepped forward with the group.

A shameful appearance I possess which is why I require the assistance of the dragon and bear.

"Hmm?" Alejandro raised a brow in questioning at which point Platadoris remarked.

Many a thought had popped up in Alex’s head when he began pondering on potential reasons their camp was attacked.

It ranged from the mutants going into a frenzy to crazier thoughts like the source of the corruption coming for them.

With the understanding that there was a mastermind, one that perhaps held nefarious desires as he asked for Ana and Alejandro to remain.

From trying to devour them to grow stronger to making them their pets, Alex was prepared to hear such cliche reasons but never in his wildest dreams could he have expected the words that came out of Platadoris’s... lips?

"Damn it, you are not making any sense!" Alejandro remarked in annoyance. "If you want us to kill you, at least be clear enough so we don’t miss important information!"

Silence ensued for a moment with Alejandro trying his best to calm down as all eyes fell on him.

Seconds passed before Platadoris let out a deep sigh.

"Unbelievable," Ana remarked before glancing at Alex who was just as perplexed as the others.

"So far, excavation teams have only found passive mentions and whatnot about the Elven kingdom, we might be on the precipice of a major discovery here!" Ana exclaimed, her eyes gleaming with excitement.

’Aha.’ Then it dawned on Alex.

Hadn’t she said that she wanted to explore the world?... Indeed, such a topic would excite her but... considering their current situation... Alex glanced at Alejandro, noting the rather peeved expression he held.

"Ahem, uhmm, Ana, how about we concentrate on the task at hand for now?" As he spoke, he made an effort to gesture for her to recall that Alejandro was still present and in mourning.

Freezing for a moment, Ana quickly realized her misstep.

Slowly but surely, she shifted her gaze to meet Alejandro’s which was quite disdainful, to say the least.

"Ahem..." Coughing awkwardly, Ana addressed Platadoris. "Please continue what you were saying."

Taking that as a cue, Ana stepped back to stand beside Victoria who also threw a derisive glance her way.

Taking a deep breath, Platadoris shifted his gaze upwards as he continued.

She wishes to bring back the Elven kingdom that was lost but... her time in the Abyss has left her twisted, without thought even. I worked in hand with the resurrected Elven King to seal her away but before we could succeed, she marked us. That mark is what is currently causing the corruption in the forest.

"So if we deal with the mark, we deal with the corruption?" Alejandro inquired feeling hopeful, unfortunately, his hopes were dashed the next moment.

Everyone once again shifted their attention to Ana who felt a bit uncomfortable considering the looks they gave weren’t the nicest.

"That... I just want to know. Was the domain of this Elven high priestess that you sealed, Distorted Evil?"

Ana said no more as she shifted her gaze to meet Alex’s own, almost like she was trying to pass across a message.

Furrowing his brows for a moment, Alex quickly realized what she was trying to say, and with the realization came a rather bitter taste in his mouth as he cursed.
