How Did I Become an F1 Driver? -
Chapter 38 - 32: Home
Chapter 38: Chapter 32: Home
Despite being exhausted, Qin Miao still spoke with excitement: "That was thrilling! Doing my favorite thing while having your company, how could I not be happy?"
"Ew~ you’re so cheesy." Although her tone was disdainful, the smile on Qimeng’s cute face bloomed uncontrollably.
Today, Qin Miao’s wish to drive the F4 fell through because, in his current state, he might not even be able to press the F4’s brakes.
"Let’s go back to the hotel, I’m tired, can’t run anymore..." Qin Miao said to Qimeng as he took off his helmet, fully aware of his limitations.
After expressing these concerns, Qin Miao began to worry about the race happening the day after tomorrow. After all, he only sat in the car for an hour and was already too tired to speak.
He wondered if he’d be so exhausted after the race that he wouldn’t even be able to get out of the car.
Qimeng was fine with the change of plans, smiling as she helped carry Qin Miao’s helmet and asked him to go to the team’s locker room to change clothes while she went to refund his deposit.
Due to Qin Miao’s fatigue, their original plan to test drive the F4 was disrupted, leaving them with more than two hours of free time in the afternoon.
Qimeng didn’t mind staying at the hotel with Qin Miao; she even enjoyed being with him, content with doing nothing else but simply being together and daydreaming.
Over the years, however, Qimeng understood a truth: opportunities are only for those who are prepared.
Now there was a rare opportunity right in front of Qin Miao. Perhaps limited by his age and experience, he might not value it.
But Qimeng knew that this easily obtained opportunity was something many people desperately sought after.
After all, typical race invitations aren’t adorned with gold trim, and even formal race invitations wouldn’t go that far.
Yet the invitation they had... actually had a gold-trimmed edge.
Qimeng didn’t know what kind of race this was, but she was sure there would be many influential figures present.
This might just be the path through which Qin Miao could achieve social mobility using his abilities.
So although Qimeng no longer sought material enjoyment, she wanted to help Qin Miao as much as possible in his racing career, to let him go further and more steadily in the path he loved.
"Let’s rest for a while first, and then head to the gym," Qimeng said to Qin Miao after handling the money matters.
"Huh? Why?" Even though Qin Miao didn’t feel like he couldn’t walk, he did feel significantly drained after hearing Qimeng’s proposal, leaving him a bit uneasy.
Qimeng’s approach was quite unlike a typical girl; she started laying out the facts and reasoning: "There’s a race in two days, right? You’ll be driving, right? Though you’re not sure what car, it surely won’t be slow, right? But given your current exhaustion after just an hour of driving, do you think you’ll perform well?"
"So to avoid making a fool of yourself then, you need to start training now. Don’t you think you’re too skinny? You need to build muscle, or else you won’t even sleep comfortably."
Qin Miao: ...
Faced with Qimeng laying out the facts and reasoning, Qin Miao couldn’t utter a single rebuttal.
He simply had no response; Qimeng’s argument was just too sound.
Nonetheless, Qimeng’s final statement made Qin Miao recall this morning when Qimeng had slipped into his bed once he was asleep.
When he woke up, he could see Qimeng’s sleeping face right next to him, her chin resting on his shoulder, no wonder she said it was uncomfortable...
Despite instinctively wanting to resist: "The race is only the day after tomorrow. Training now won’t make a difference, it’s just a last-minute effort."
Qimeng raised her eyebrows: "Sharpening the blade before battle may not make it quick, but it will make it shine! Any improvement in your stamina is worth it, I don’t care! Today, you must go to the gym and train!"
When reasoning didn’t work, Qimeng resorted to the exclusive moves of girls, throwing a tantrum!
Seeing Qimeng, who usually looked at him with gentle smiles, suddenly becoming so unreasonable, Qin Miao could only nod and agree helplessly.
Though before agreeing, Qin Miao attempted one more struggle: "I’ll go, but you have to train with me too."
Qimeng was speechless. I’m thinking about your future, and all you want is to drag someone along with you.
What’s wrong with you?!
"Alright, alright, together then."
Besides, Qimeng planned to sign up for a figure class during summer vacation because she knew that as Qin Miao’s achievements grew, the outstanding women around him would likely increase.
Though Qimeng didn’t think these women could threaten her position in Qin Miao’s heart, she still hoped he would focus more on her, so maintaining a sense of freshness in Qin Miao’s eyes was quite necessary.
Thus, the two left Shanghai and headed back to the hotel where they were staying.
Once at the hotel, the two put away their things. Initially, Qin Miao intended to head to the gym right away after tidying up.
But after finishing, Qin Miao saw Qimeng take out the racing suit he had just worn from the bag and walk towards the bathroom.
"What... are you doing?" Qin Miao asked curiously.
Qimeng responded naturally, as if it were obvious: "Washing clothes, what else?"
Hearing her words, for a brief moment, Qin Miao felt a jolt in his heart: "Let me do it."
Yet, Qimeng dismissed him, pushing him out of the bathroom: "Alright~ Relax, let me handle this. Besides, you wouldn’t get it clean; even if you washed it, it would still smell of sweat, unpleasant for you or anyone else around."
"You haven’t seen me wash clothes, how can you know I wouldn’t do it well?" Qin Miao tried to argue.
"Out!" Qimeng’s voice lowered, her previously gentle smile turning serious.
"Fine, haven’t seen you mad." Qin Miao backed down immediately, sulking as he retreated from the bathroom.
Feeling a bit helpless, Qin Miao touched his nose and glanced at the graceful silhouette behind the frosted glass washing his racing suit; at that moment, Qin Miao truly accepted Qimeng’s presence.
This is my girlfriend; the one I want to spend my life with.
Twenty minutes later, Qimeng finished the laundry, and she and Qin Miao each took an end, wringing out the clothes, hanging them by the hotel window to let them dry.
Once done, they headed out.
There was a gym right below the hotel where Qin Miao and Qimeng were staying.
Taking the elevator to the gym, since they weren’t going to stay long, they didn’t heed the coach’s recommendation to buy a membership, settling only for a two-day package instead.
And so they began their respective training.
