Hospital 444 -
Chapter 60 - 1 Homecoming
Chapter 60: Chapter 1 Homecoming
Yin Wuque’s Deputy Director’s office.
"You’ve worked hard again, Director Mei."
Yin Wuque poured Tequila into a glass with ice cubes and handed it to Mei Quzhen standing before him.
As long as they didn’t want to get drunk, Paranormal Doctors implanted with curses could break down alcohol rapidly in their bloodstream. No matter how strong the drink, it wouldn’t affect their sanity; they could even drive right after drinking without any trouble.
"I’ll give you a two-day leave," Yin Wuque sat opposite Mei Quzhen and said, "And thank you for helping Dai Lin’s growth."
"Cultivating juniors for the hospital is my duty," Mei Quzhen raised his glass of Tequila, clinking it with Yin Wuque’s: "But I don’t need a vacation. I’m destined to be busy; I feel uncomfortable if I stop. I want to foster a few more talented juniors in the department so I can have some days of leisure myself."
"Sigh, I was hoping to give you and your wife a little time for yourselves."
"In this line of work, there’s no such thing as leisure."
Then Mei Quzhen took another sip of Tequila.
"I must say, a completely sterilized hospital really is an excellent place to store fine wines."
"If you’re interested, I can prepare some more for you next time."
Mei Quzhen suddenly put down his glass and gazed at Yin Wuque.
"During these three years of Meng Hua’s coma, your laughter has been the most frequent of late."
"Is it..." Yin Wuque couldn’t help but look into his glass, at his own reflection: "It’s been three years, and for the first time, I’ve seen hope."
"Allow me to throw a dampener on your spirits, Deputy Director."
"Are you referring to Dai Lin’s growth?"
"What I mean is... now is not a good time. In the past three months, the number of doctors lost in the department has increased, and only Dai Lin survived from the doctors recruited in the fourth quarter. You should know the reason. And this is just the beginning. The time Jiang Han starts sleepwalking closely coincides with the opening of the last gateway to hell."
Yin Wuque’s expression became somber.
"I am aware of this."
That’s why he concealed Lu Junjun’s medical records; he didn’t want this case drawing attention from more departments.
In the future, cases like this one were going to increase.
"So you see, we are not meant for leisure."
Following that, Yin Wuque propped his elbows on his knees and clasped his hands together.
"Lin Yan being taken from the ICU ward by a Devil, you know what that implies, right?"
Mei Quzhen’s face grew a few shades more ominous.
"Everybody is well aware of it; it’s just that no one is speaking openly yet."
"When it comes time to assign blame, the Haunted Department can easily find a scapegoat, but you and I both know who the real mastermind is." Yin Wuque said, his face turning grim: "Sooner or later, I’ll make that person pay!"
In the wee hours of the morning.
Lin Sen lay in a hospital ward bed.
"Your examination is essentially complete," Tang Li told Lin Sen: "All your tests are normal, of course, just to be safe, you need to stay in the hospital for a period of observation to ensure nothing else happens. Tomorrow I’ll arrange for your wife to visit you in the hospital."
Lin Sen nodded and said, "Thank you, Dr. Tang."
"Actually, you should mainly thank Director Mei and Dr. Dai. I must admit, it was ultimately Dr. Dai who played the crucial role in saving you, although it was also due to the extra time Director Mei fought for."
"Then, where is Dr. Dai now?"
"He’s not from the emergency department; he has gone back to rest by now."
Afterward, Tang Li recalled Dai Lin’s momentous efforts back in the cemetery.
Without a doubt, she had not been as formidable as Dai Lin when she was an intern.
Maybe... he really could awaken Meng Hua.
The next day.
It was Sunday.
For Dai Lin, it truly could be called a long-awaited day of rest.
On such a day, of course he wanted to spend it with his family.
It had been a very long time since he had been home.
As he entered the residential community where his parents and younger brother lived, Dai Lin couldn’t help feeling as if he were stepping into another world.
Now, he felt as if he had returned to the world of ordinary people.
Having flown from D city back to W city, as soon as he got off the plane, he headed straight here.
The Spatial Shuttle Ability couldn’t freely shuttle between cities, which was really inconvenient.
He had bought quite a few things, carrying large and small packages as he walked through the community, when a dancing auntie in the square ahead took notice of Dai Lin.
"Hey, isn’t that the Dai family’s eldest son?" the auntie immediately came over and said, "It’s rare to see you back!"
"Auntie Li, hello," Dai Lin said with a smile, "I’m back."
Back again...
Back again!
Just then, Dai Lin suddenly froze. His left eye had completely penetrated Auntie Li’s body, and the organs and bones inside were clearly visible.
After that, Dai Lin saw a tumor had developed on Auntie Li’s liver.
He then fully scrutinized the tumor and couldn’t rule out the possibility of cancer.
Dai Lin immediately realized that his eyes had evolved further!
He hurriedly said to the auntie, "Auntie, listen to me, have you had a health check-up recently?"
"Health check-up? Nope. I’m in good health! I eat well and sleep soundly; why would I need a health check-up?"
Auntie Li looked Dai Lin over and said, "Mm, your mom has been arranging to introduce you to someone recently. She has been distributing your photo among us, saying she wants to help you find a nice girl."
Dai Lin quickly continued, "Auntie, I just looked at your complexion, and it doesn’t seem very good. I’m not trying to scare you, but I suggest you go to the hospital for an abdominal CT."
Treatment now could still save you!
The auntie was initially unconcerned, but then she remembered that Dai Lin was a surgeon, and his mother had been bragging all the time that he had become a vice-chief physician at such a young age; she began to get nervous, "Are you serious? You’re a Western doctor, not a Chinese medicine practitioner, how can you tell something is wrong just by looking at my face?"
"Remember, you must go for an abdominal CT," Dai Lin emphasized again.
"Well, okay, I’ll make time for it... I have no idea where I put my health insurance card. Sigh, how about I come to your Ninth Hospital?"
"That’s fine. I recommend you register with Fang Xuran, a doctor at the Hepatobiliary department; he is my senior colleague."
"Hepatobiliary... are my liver and gallbladder not well?" Auntie Li became increasingly anxious, "Don’t scare me, Dai Lin, I really can’t handle being frightened."
Dai Lin intended to scare her so that she would go to the hospital for treatment.
"Auntie Li, here’s what you can do, download the Ninth Hospital’s app," Dai Lin continued to say, "or you could follow the public account, which also works. Online registration is very convenient now, so register for Dr. Fang’s special clinic..."
"Dai Lin, tell me clearly, what do you think is wrong with me?" the auntie asked anxiously.
"I’m not sure, but it is likely related to the Hepatobiliary department," Dai Lin continued, "Anyhow, go for a CT. If nothing’s wrong, then you can just treat it as a health check, right?"
After speaking with the auntie, Dai Lin took out his phone and called his senior colleague.
"Hello, senior brother."
"Dai Lin? What on earth are you thinking? The department head has been trying to contact you, and your phone has been saying ’out of service area’?"
"Senior brother, it’s like this, in a few days, one of my parents’ neighbors will come to see you at the outpatient clinic..."
