Chapter 468: Vacation

Having done it once already, the second time went much smoother—for both Dumbledore and Ciri.

The power of Elder Blood flared.

Golden light unfurled.

It wasn’t an irresistible force. Harry realized its effects were weak enough that, even without magic, his Witcher-trained body could resist it.

But he didn’t fight it. He surrendered willingly, letting the power take over his body.

The surroundings dulled, much like the sensation after drinking Blizzard potion—but this time, his body and even his thoughts slowed down, until... he could perceive nothing at all.

When Harry opened his eyes again—

His mind was a fog, as if Dumbledore had scooped the dung from Harry’s brain and crammed it into his own.

A wave of weakness swept through him.

"How do you feel?" Hermione helped him sit up.

Harry shook his head. "Like the first time Lambert took me drinking."

"Try casting a spell," Dumbledore said.

Harry nodded, took Hermione’s wand. The wand’s cheerful aura curled around his wrist.

He gave it a light wave.

A Transfiguration charm turned a stool into a lively young deer, which pranced around the common room, nuzzled Hermione’s foot, then turned back into a stool.

Another wave—

Expecto Patronum!

A silver griffin spread its wings and landed gracefully. It felt less powerful than before, but purer, like a white gemstone.

"Looks like there’s no major effect," Dumbledore nodded in satisfaction.

Weakened aura—expected. His soul had just undergone trauma.

"Grindelwald, what do you think?" Dumbledore turned around.

Grindelwald didn’t answer. His focus wasn’t on Harry, but on Ciri. His trembling hands subtly traced the air.

"Gellert?" Dumbledore called again, puzzled.

The others noticed the black-robed old man’s strange silence.

Geralt stepped forward protectively in front of Ciri.

His hand moved to his waist—where he kept his sword via an Undetectable Extension Charm. In the castle, like Harry, he usually kept it stored, but it was always ready.

That look in Grindelwald’s eyes reminded him of the Wild Hunt.

"No need to be so tense," Grindelwald raised his hands. "I couldn’t beat Harry even if I tried."

"Then control that disgusting gaze," Yennefer snapped.

Grindelwald didn’t react, kept his eyes on Ciri. "Manipulating time... I can’t believe it. I’ve studied Time-Turners, but this—this trick of the ancient bloodlines—it’s nowhere near that level."

This was his first time witnessing and experiencing Ciri’s power.

He turned to Dumbledore. "Albus."

This force—powerful, mysterious—made his heart stir.

"I once had thoughts like yours," Dumbledore shook his head. "But Gellert, it’s not realistic."

"You challenged fate once—and that result..."

He didn’t finish the sentence.

Grindelwald fell silent. A glint of silver shimmered in his eyes—he tried to use his Seer’s Sight to glimpse the future of this temptation.

But... no magic surged forth.

Dumbledore placed a hand on his shoulder and shook his head. "The dead are gone. Even Harry hasn’t asked for such things."

He was afraid.

If Grindelwald saw the future he longed for—he feared he wouldn’t be able to resist.

Especially now.

He could visit Aberforth’s tavern... he could live in the same castle as Grindelwald... If Ariana could return, if Aurelius could live again—then it would be perfect.

And he knew himself—he had never been good at resisting temptation.

Like when he saw the Resurrection Stone—he couldn’t stop himself from putting it on. If Harry hadn’t punched him, he might have died under its curse.

The best way to resist temptation... was to avoid encountering it.

"I understand," Grindelwald withdrew his magic and sighed.

"You really are a dangerous man," Geralt muttered, slightly relaxing—but not stepping away from Ciri.

Grindelwald gave him the same feeling as Voleth Meir.

A chill to the bones.

If Harry hadn’t been here, he would’ve already drawn his sword. Yennefer already had sparks crackling in her hands.

"In a little while, once you’re recovered, we’ll be heading back," Geralt said. "Yennefer and I have agreed—the wedding will be held in Toussaint. We’re setting up a manor there."

Yennefer beamed. "We’ll have a few kids, but we won’t let them become Witchers or sorcerers."

"I can help," Ciri raised her hand. "After all, Toussaint is Nilfgaard territory."

Geralt added, "When it’s time, we’ll have Ciri bring you an invitation."

"I think I should go with you," Harry said softly.

Geralt blinked.

Hadn’t they already agreed Harry would stay?

"There’s still a month of summer break," Harry smiled. "I want to show Hermione around. Last two times were too rushed. We never made it to Kaer Morhen. And I haven’t seen Vesemir, Lambert, or Eskel."

Hermione nodded—she was looking forward to it.

"Of course," Geralt agreed.

Dumbledore cut in with a reminder, "Harry... the goblins—"

Harry said nothing, only looked at him calmly.

They locked eyes.

"Albus," Harry said, "do I need to remind you—I’m just a sixth-year graduate, with one more year at Hogwarts?"

Dumbledore raised a hand, gesturing. "Let’s say this is a Ministry commission. How about that?"

"Witchers love commissions," Harry chuckled. "But it’s exhausting being one."

"Albus, I just want to be normal now."

"So, allow me to decline this quest."

"The Potter family isn’t short on money anymore."

Hermione chimed in, "And we’ve got Muggle money too. I gave my parents some herbs to help—they’ve expanded their dental clinic and are planning a private hospital."

Dumbledore looked at the two of them and sighed. "So you’re leaving me to handle that alone?"

"Absolutely," Harry and Hermione said in perfect unison.

Three days later—

After confirming Harry had recovered well, and with Yennefer’s persistent nagging, Ciri opened the portal and they departed.

Geralt and Yennefer were both still on edge.

Too many people were interested in Ciri.

From waking up on the Isle of Apples, to the Voleth Meir incident, to the Wild Hunt—everything had come in a rush.

Grindelwald’s look had deeply unsettled them.
