Chapter 667
Robert Foster chose not to upgrade his accommodation.
The director, out of courtesy to Miles White, had indeed prepared a better room for him, but Robert refused it.
He had initially thought the television show was exactly what he’d seen on TV, with maybe a slight deviation. After his participation, he found out that a lot of it was actually the result of editing.
How the end product turned out depended entirely on the editor’s cuts.
Those so-called beautiful moments and genuine emotions were mostly acting.
His horizons had been broadened, and he’d become more open-minded.
However, he didn’t want to become one of those people. Since he was participating in the show, he intended to do it properly until the end.
Besides, he was quite interested in the thatched cottage.
He had never lived in such a place from childhood to now. Seeing it now, especially after he’d personally decorated it, he felt an inexplicable attachment to it and couldn’t bear to abandon it.
Megan Harding couldn’t stand the cold. After filming, she abandoned the room next door and moved into a building with better heating.
It was winter, and it was indeed colder here. Fortunately, there were no mosquitoes.
Robert was content with his accommodation. After covering himself with a quilt, he could sleep peacefully.
When he came back after brushing his teeth, he suddenly found an extra quilt on the bed, a very good one at that.
It was thick and soft, and one glance was enough to tell that it would be very warm.
He wanted to ask someone who had sent it, but everyone had already finished work, and there was no one to ask.
Never mind, he’d ask tomorrow.
He spread the quilt and happily lied down in it.
Outside the door, two dried corn cobs hung on the wall. Below the corn, a person stood against the wall, her mouth turning up into a blissful smile.
After a while, Wanda Wesley left.
She lived in the building next door.
Chloe Collins had been standing by the window for a long time, watching Wanda take her own quilt and enter Robert’s room.
She turned to look at the empty bed next door, where there was nothing.
She placed her own quilt on Wanda’s bed.
After a while, Wanda returned.
Surprised to see the quilt on her bed, she asked.
Chloe indifferently said, "You can use it. I have a coat that can keep me warm."
Wanda waved her hand and quickly brought Chloe’s quilt back to her bed. "I’m fine. I’m not afraid of the cold at all. I’m more afraid of heat," she said.
Laughing, she patted her own belly, "This layer of fat is particularly resistant to the cold. I get hot when I use a quilt, so it’s just right without one."
Chloe’s gaze focused on her belly, and a thought flashed through her eyes.
Following that, she said, "Alright."
Deep into the night, both of them lay in bed, but neither of them seemed to be in a hurry to sleep.
Wanda was looking at her phone, apparently watching behind-the-scenes clips of Robert filming the show that day.
Chloe took out a few books and a photo album from her bag and placed them on the bedside table.
Since their beds were separated by a single bedside table, Wanda could see the items Chloe had placed on it as soon as she looked up.
As Chloe finished reading the first page of the comic, Wanda mumbled, "It would have been great if this was filmed in a real uninhabited village. Robert was really looking forward to it, but who would have thought that..."
Suddenly, she fell silent.
Chloe looked up and noticed Wanda staring at the photo album on the bedside table. Her eyes were filled with shock.
Wanda asked, "Is this...your mother?"
For a moment, Chloe seemed taken aback. "You know my mother?"
Wanda pursed her lips, her eyes flashing with avoidance. She then laughed and said, "Not exactly. I saw her picture in the newspaper when I was little."
Chloe knew Wanda was lying but didn’t expose her. She simply said, "My mother was a doctor. She saved many people. But in the end, she died trying to save someone."
