The weather was cold; so, Evelyn Thompson had someone prepare hotpot to warm them up.

Winter nights came early. It was not even six o’clock, and the sky was completely dark. Evelyn stood at the doorway for a long time, her brows slightly knitted.

William Foster stepped forward and draped a shawl over her, saying, "Just go inside and wait. Since they said they would return, they will definitely come back."

Evelyn looked at the main gate and said, "No, I asked Cain to pick up Wandy when he came back; I don’t know if he went or not."

She looked at her husband and added, "That girl is quite pitiful, living alone. I don’t know what her parents were thinking, leaving her on her own."

William smiled, "You have a kind heart, but think about whether it’s appropriate. Cain and her are male and female acquaintances after all, and our family’s enthusiasm might make the young miss misunderstand."

After a while, she said, "Well, just invite her occasionally, not every time. Besides, Chlo-Chlo is here too; she’s a girl, so inviting Wandy isn’t that inappropriate, is it?"

William smiled helplessly and did not argue with her.

Satisfied, Evelyn turned around and looked at the delicious food almost ready in the kitchen, sighing wistfully, "If only Alex hadn’t gone on a business trip, this would be perfect. Oh, Jack, go ask Miss Chloe Collins to come over for dinner."

He sighed, "Anyway, remember that there’s your dad, mom, and brother at home. You can’t let anything happen to you."

"Alright, we are about to have dinner here too, so I’ll leave it at that."

"Dad, how’s Chlo-Chlo?"

"At home, if you miss her, come back as soon as possible."

With a hint of anger, William ended the call.

Evelyn had been listening on the side, her expression a bit heavy.

She stepped forward to hug her husband and said, "It’s been so long since those things happened; don’t think about them anymore. Alex is doing fine now, and he listens to you, coming back to manage the company. Over the past few years, he has been very well-behaved, and he won’t rebel anymore."
