Chapter 547
Alexander Foster suddenly frowned.
He remembered his subtle hint earlier in the day, asking if she could take a video.
At that time, he knew that she had already seen through his intentions, but she chose to ignore them.
It turns out she was sick.
He handed the kitten to Robert Foster, striding over.
"Mom, I’ll talk to her."
Evelyn Thompson froze and replied, "Ah oh, she just hung up."
"No need to call, Chlo-Chlo needs to revise. I’ve asked everything necessary. She’s fine. She finished her exam."
Alex: "What did the doctor say?"
"It was just a rumor. The one who got sick was Chlo-Chlo’s classmate, not Chlo-Chlo. Our Chlo-Chlo just handed in her paper early, so people suspected she was not feeling well," Evelyn explained.
Robert Foster: "I see. You scared me."
Alex seemed to be deep in thought, staying silent.
After he showered, he stepped out of the bathroom and looked at a particular spot, recalling a certain moment—
When Robert and Chloe Collins showed up in his room at the same time.
Robert Foster said she had touched his towel and bathtub.
At that moment, he instinctively thought that she...
Thinking about that rather presumptuous idea, Alex let it slide.
Later, he gradually realized that she was not interested in him.
In that case, Chloe’s deliberate attempts to get close to him became inexplicable.
He walked slowly to the desk outside his bedroom, deep in thought.
He remembered another time when he found her standing here, staring at his personal files after he took a shower.
Both times, she did not provide a satisfactory explanation.
Later, she justified moving in with him by mentioning Miles White.
Throughout their time together, she often inquired about his whereabouts, especially his evening activities, intentionally or unintentionally.
He had realized her intentions were not as simple as obeying his mother’s instructions quite some time ago.
She wanted something from here.
However, for some reason, she refrained from being forthcoming.
Therefore, he had implied his willingness to help her more than once.
Yet, she still chose to be secretive.
What was she worrying about?
Did she manage to devise what she wanted?
Usually, how did she go about searching for it?
As he was mulling over these thoughts, he suddenly looked at his bathroom.
He walked over to the bathtub, bent down to look at the switch under it, then turned to the wall.
Robert’s words echoed in his ears.
He smiled.
This little girl was very clever, managing to slip into his basement without detection.
Was there something she wanted in his basement?
While wondering about this, he walked downstairs.
Nothing was missing downstairs, but he was clueless about what she could possibly want.
If he asked her directly, the young lady was likely to move out of the Fosters’ house due to embarrassment and worries.
With that thought, he dismissed the possibility.
He sat in the basement room for an hour, taking out all the items that required a password.
Most of them contained business secrets.
He doubted the young lady was interested in such things.
He dismissed that thought.
Upon reconsidering, he put those items back into the basket.
After tidying them up, he carried them back to his bedroom.
Early the next morning.
While Chloe Collins and others were preparing for their experimental examinations, Albert Green showed up near the Fosters’ house to discuss Alex’s schedule.
Alex spared half an hour to join him for breakfast.
Albert Green arrived very early. When he saw Alex, he dismissed his concerns.
After a brief greeting, Albert Green said, "Mr. Foster, I’m a straightforward man. If I have something to say, I say it."
Alex: "Please, go ahead."
Albert Green, in a serious tone, asked, "If Chloe Collins really needs your help, to what extent can you offer it?"
