Chapter 48: The Little Bunny Who Loves Eating
After returning to the company, Alexander Foster buried himself in his work, handling everything with extraordinary efficiency.
He saved some time to hit the gym for two hours, then, figuring it was about time, he decided to go home to walk the dog.
At 6:20, a call came from home.
Outside the French windows, it was pouring rain, and Evelyn Thompson’s voice, half-coquettish, half-commanding, came to his ears—
"The rain is really heavy, I called Chlo-Chlo, and she doesn’t have an umbrella. I told her to wait for you in the small shop at the school’s Doorway. Hurry up and go over there."
Alexander glanced down dismissively and asked nonchalantly, "Did the Driver die or something?"
"Uh... just pretend they’re all dead today! Go quickly, and if you dare to send someone else, I’ll sell your beloved Victor, do you hear me?"
Victor, his beloved dog.
Alexander frowned slightly, his deep voice tinged with helplessness: "Just this once."
Ending the call, he checked the time, picked up his clothes, and went downstairs.
-
Inside the spicy snack shop next to the Capitol University Affiliated High School’s doorway.
Because of the rain, the seats in the shop were already filled, ninety percent of whom were students.
This shop specialized in selling snacks that young people like, such as milk tea and duck neck.
At the window side single seat, Chloe Collins was focusing on eating the shop’s new product—Ultimate Crossing-the-bridge noodles.
The taste wasn’t particularly authentic, but it was spicy enough, with a lot of ingredients, which satisfied her taste buds.
She ate neither quickly nor slowly, efficiently and cleanly.
Her good table manners caught the eye of several boys seated nearby, who observed her secretly for A long time.
In Affiliated High School, there was an unwritten consensus— any girl with a sense of self-respect wouldn’t eat noodles in a shop to avoid ruining her image, those who craved it would take it to go or have it delivered.
In their eyes, Chloe Collins was one of the few "unusual" cases, and when it came to beauty, she was an unparalleled "unusual" one too.
As she stared at the never-ending ingredients in her bowl, her eyes shone with satisfaction, like a little rabbit that had just discovered a whole field of carrots.
Outside the French windows, in the black Bentley car, Alexander watched the girl eating inside, the indifference and aloofness on his face gradually fading away, and his aura becoming much more amiable.
In his usually serene eyes, a touch of softness unknowingly emerged amidst the hurried autumn rain.
Gradually, a faint smile appeared in his eyes, warm and gentle like the spring breeze in March.
Being a kid at heart, she could feel happy about eating.
However... she looked much cuter now than when she was negotiating terms with him.
Suddenly, he furrowed his brow, not knowing why he had such a superfluous thought.
The rain suddenly intensified.
In a blink, he averted his gaze, rolling down the car window and honking the horn at the same time.
When Chloe looked up, she saw the man’s cold and indifferent face through the fine curtain of rain.
There were still a few meatballs and quite a bit of rice noodles left in her bowl, and it was pouring rain outside.
So, she didn’t move.
Her phone rang just in time.
"Come out."
"It’s raining heavily."
There was A three-second Silence from Alexander before he hung up the call.
Chloe remained unhurried and continued eating the contents of her bowl.
Within a few seconds, she smelled the unique fragrance that belonged to him.
Right next to her.
At the same time, his tall figure blocked her light.
Glancing down from the corner of her eye, she saw several crystal-clear, plump raindrops lying on the man’s black leather shoes.
