Chapter 469: Chapter 469: The Collinses Cannot Lose this Marriage Alliance
Chapter 469
The butler swiftly ushered in a man who appeared to be in his thirties.
"Mr. Collins, hello, I am Mr. Carson’s assistant."
Tristan Collins replied, "We are sincerely sorry for Mr. Carson’s predicament, but as you should know, legally, we are not at fault. My daughter was merely fulfilling a normal order, making the product to meet the customer’s needs. She had no knowledge of its intended use."
Even though his words were meant to be comforting, they still sounded arrogantly assertive coming from Tristan.
"Go back and tell Mr. Carson that I wish to meet him in person, to thoroughly discuss this matter."
The assistant offered a formal, insincere smile, "That was indeed Mr. Carson’s intention. He will be expecting you at the Radiantview Hotel at ten o’clock in the morning the day after tomorrow."
Having conveyed the message, the assistant prepared to leave.
But Tristan asked, "My eldest daughter treated Mr. Carson’s son and prescribed him some medicine. I wonder if it has had any effect?"
The assistant responded, "Thanks to Miss Collins, Mr. Carson’s condition has stabilized and he is now undergoing treatment at the hospital."
A hint of relief showed on Tristan’s face as he instructed the butler to see the guest out.
On the other side, Rosalind Taylor thought for a moment before asking Tristan, "Husband, given what you have just said, it seems our daughter Raine is not in any trouble. Why then are we accommodating the Carsons?"
Tristan snorted coldly, "What do you understand? In order to expand Collins Industries’ market, the Carsons are an excellent ally. Even if we were completely in the right with this matter, we still must meet with them!"
"The day after tomorrow, you take Raine with you, make her look a bit pitiful, and go personally to apologize to young Mr. Carson!"
Rosalind had also considered this angle but had overestimated Tristan’s concern for appearances a bit.
Currently, it seemed that, although Tristan valued maintaining face, he prioritized profits even more.
"Chlo-Chlo has made an enormous contribution to this affair, and Alexander Foster dotes on her. As her mother, you should spend more time caring for her in the coming days."
Rosalind finally understood Tristan’s scheme.
She was mistaken!
She thought Tristan would become more angry and bitter toward Chloe Collins because of this incident. However, she overlooked one point.
Chloe Collins was still his daughter, and Alexander’s preference for his daughter represented a long-term benefit for him and the Collins family which outweighed any potential harm.
"Husband, are you hoping for Chlo-Chlo and Alexander to be together? Didn’t you previously disapprove of their relationship?"
With a stern face, Tristan slowly said, "At this point, it is too late to prevent it. Raine has proven to be inadequate, as none of the Foster sons are interested in her. My family, the Collinses, cannot afford to lose this marriage connection."
Rosalind was not willing to accept this, "But Chlo-Chlo is not worthy! Have you forgotten..."
Tristan shot her a sharp look, "If you dare mention what happened in the past, I will never forgive you!"
Her eyelashes quivered as Rosalind suddenly looked away, muttering quietly, "I understand. I’ve kept quiet about it for so many years, I won’t say anything."
She glanced at Tristan, "I tried to speak with Chlo-Chlo today, asking her to persuade Alexander, but she refused."
"Are you aware of the unreasonable demands Alexander is making now? He wants you to hand all of your power over to Chlo-Chlo as a condition to continue the partnership. Is that possible?"
Tristan sank into thought, murmuring to himself, "Her temperament... she’s just like her mother, unyielding to either threats or persuasions."
"Are we just going to stand by and watch Alexander terminate our partnership?"
A cloud of worry spread across Tristan’s face.
Just then, Raine Nolan returned.
She had completely lost the air of arrogance she had carried the night before, and seemed gentle and submissive now, keeping her head down.
She carefully approached Tristan and quietly called, "Father."
"Kneel!"
