Chapter 451: Feeling Embarrassed for Raine Nolan
Chapter 451: Chapter 451: Feeling Embarrassed for Raine Nolan
Chapter 451
William Foster, however, said: "There’s no harm in waiting for a while. Cain, go see if Raine needs anything."
Robert Foster gave a grunt and followed along.
Tristan Collins, unable to stop him, let Rosalind Taylor accompany him as well.
Rosalind Taylor received his gaze and quickly walked over.
Upon entering the room, Raine Nolan was indeed still resisting the doctor’s touch on her ankle.
Seeing her, she happily yelled out, "Mom."
Rosalind Taylor hushed her.
She then walked up to Dr. Puckett, whispering in his ear: "There’s no good outcome going against the Collinses. Be sensible, and there will be benefits for you later."
Dr. Puckett listened and turned to look at her, smiling, "I will seriously consider the Madam’s words."
As soon as these words fell, Robert Foster entered the room while Rosalind Taylor walked out.
"Watch carefully and leave."
She returned to the dining table, looked at Tristan Collins, and gave a calm smile.
Although Tristan Collins was infuriated by their deception, even fooling him, more importantly, he did not want to lose face in front of others.
Everyone at the table was waiting for Dr. Puckett’s verdict.
A few minutes later, Dr. Puckett emerged.
Tristan Collins’s intimidating gaze fell on him.
Dr. Puckett remained neither servile nor overbearing.
"Doctor, how is it? Is everything okay?" Evelyn Thompson asked.
Dr. Puckett shook his head.
"Miss Nolan must have made a mistake; there are no bite marks on her ankle, nor any other injuries."
Tristan Collins and Rosalind Taylor’s faces changed instantly!
Rosalind Taylor glared at the doctor, her eyes filled with murderous intent.
However, Dr. Puckett remained calm, adding, "Indeed, there are no visible injuries, so I won’t disturb everyone’s meal any further."
Evelyn Thompson, who gradually returned to her senses, gestured for the butler: "Please escort Dr. Puckett out."
As soon as the doctor left, Robert Foster and Raine Nolan came out as well.
"You all know already, right? Raine didn’t get bitten at all."
"Ah? What do you mean?" Sophia Ford sneered. "Could it be that Raine deliberately faked her injury to deceive us?"
Robert Foster didn’t say anything.
Neither did William Foster and his wife.
The room suddenly fell into a strange silence.
Sophia Ford pursed her lips, holding back her laughter, but her upturned eyes betrayed her schadenfreude.
Cherry Foster sat uncomfortably, feeling embarrassed for Raine Nolan.
Even if she hadn’t been injured, if she had explained everything from the beginning, their families would not have treated them badly.
Now that they had unnecessarily played a trick and been exposed, it was even more embarrassing.
"Raine, why did you lie?" Tristan Collins said.
Faced with everyone’s stern faces, Raine Nolan didn’t know what to do.
She suddenly ran to Evelyn Thompson: "Aunt Thompson, I did this on my own. I lied to my parents and to all of you. I was just too scared, but even if the dog didn’t really bite me, it did chase me. I was just terrified..."
Her pitiful, tearful look, however, didn’t elicit much sympathy from anyone.
Seeing this, Rosalind Taylor directly apologized.
"I’m really sorry. The child was too impulsive."
Tristan Collins, feeling unjustified, said, "We will discipline her strictly when we return."
Seeing that things had gone that far, Evelyn Thompson and her husband wouldn’t push further.
However, their impression of Raine Nolan’s character had plummeted to its lowest point.
Because of this incident, the atmosphere at the dinner table was no longer pleasant.
The elders were still maintaining a basic friendly appearance, not making the situation too awkward.
Raine Nolan felt uneasy, barely able to eat her meal.
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became.
Overhearing Sophia Ford still discussing the matter with Brandon Spence, an idea suddenly popped into her mind.
She abruptly put down her chopsticks and said, "There’s something I’ve been afraid to tell you all."
