Chapter 397

Camille was stunned the moment she saw Chloe Collins.

Then, she blurted out a few English phrases in an incoherent way to express her excitement and surprise.

"Darling, what happened to you, your style... why did it change like this?"

"Soft and cute, like it." Camille reached for a rascal rabbit plushie on the couch.

Chloe took off her coat and hung it up. Then she sat down on the couch, casually resting her legs on the armrest, and said indifferently, "Oh, is that so?"

In fact, the other outfits Evelyn Thompson bought for her were even more adorable.

This outfit was comparatively mature.

Camille excitedly took several photos and sent them to a group chat.

Immediately, the group was flooded with ’wows’, one after another.

"See, they all can’t believe it’s you. They thought I forced you to wear this."

Chloe was eating an orange: "Oh, really?"

"Ah, the Old Man noticed you!"

Chloe’s relaxed expression suddenly paused.

The orange in her hand instantly lost its appeal. She hurriedly grabbed her phone to check.

In the group chat with 99+ new messages, all the other members had been suddenly silenced and only the Old Man could send messages.

He tagged her.

Chloe’s eyes darted around, then, she quietly exited the group chat.

"Ah ah ah, you exited the group chat?" Camille, already notorious for triggering 30+ messages, was as excited as a schoolgirl.

Chloe put the phone down and continued eating her orange, "What did the Old Man say?"

"He put up three question marks."

Chloe laughed, "Ignore him. We will discuss it later."

Camille burst out laughing, "He added you back in the group again."

Chloe took a glance; indeed, it was true. She didn’t set any permissions, so her friends could add her to a group without her consent.

As soon as she entered, she was met with a very stern face.

Chloe sighed, "Tell him I have diarrhea and am in the restroom. I can’t see the messages."

Camille was unable to contain her laughter, "The Old Man asked if you’re wearing this because you were triggered. He said you stole my clothes. He asked you to stay true to yourself and not invade others’ territories. He even commented that your outfit was all out of sorts."

Chloe maintained an indifferent expression.

Again, she exited the group silently and this time set the group’s permissions.

Camille too put down her phone, completely ignoring the Old Man.

Camille’s flight was soon. It was a 1 a.m. flight, hence after dinner, Chloe took her to the airport.

While on her way back, she headed towards the Foster’s house.

Midway, she received a call from Layla Lowell.

She made a somewhat strange request—asking Chloe to accompany her in her sleep.

Chloe knew that Layla had a court hearing tomorrow, her nervousness was inevitable.

Since Chloe had no other engagements and tomorrow was a Sunday, she agreed to go.

Changing direction, she drove towards Layla’s house.

Layla originally lived on her own. But lately, for the sake of fighting for her rights, even if it was uncomfortable, she moved back into the Lowells’ house, living under the same roof with her stepmother Charlotte Floyd and Luna Lowell, who bore no blood relation to her.

Owing to Luna’s attempted murder charge, she had been sued by Charles Carrington and it had become the second court case. Luna had been arrested and was busy seeking a lawyer.

Thus, only Charlotte and Luna’s uncle were left at home.

By the time she reached the Lowells’ house, it was nearly midnight.

Layla was waiting for her at the doorway. Seeing Chloe, her tense nerves surprisingly relaxed quite a bit, she invited her inside.

The moment the light shone upon Chloe’s outfit, Layla joined the ranks of those stunned that day.

"Chlo-Chlo, you... so you have this side to you, too?"

Chloe frowned.

"What do you all think I’m usually like?"
