Chapter 332
Lilian Pearce felt suffocated by the pressure in her chest.
Every time she thought about it, she couldn’t help but feel guilty toward Chloe Collins.
But now, it was too late.
Tristan Collins was a selfish man who would always view things from his own perspective, regardless of the situation.
As expected, the next second, Tristan said to Rosalind Taylor, "Go wait in the other room."
Although his tone was not very pleasant, there was no hatred in it. It didn’t seem like he was planning to interrogate her or seek retribution.
Rosalind Taylor’s mouth twitched, and she gave Lilian Pearce a cold stare before standing up and leaving.
Suddenly, she seemed to have thought of something and abruptly stopped in her tracks!
She glanced back and forth between Tristan Collins and Lilian Pearce, worry in her eyes.
The next moment, she nervously entered the partitioned area behind the folding screen but didn’t close the door.
Meanwhile, the atmosphere on this side grew cold.
Lilian Pearce was noticeably more nervous than before, her fingers fidgeting anxiously.
She wasn’t afraid of facing Rosalind Taylor; the person she truly feared was the man in front of her.
Tristan Collins had an unresolved resentment in his heart. Rosalind Taylor had told her that, because she had unintentionally been involved in that incident, Tristan would definitely think she knew what had happened.
An angry man, especially a wealthy, powerful one, could do anything.
Back then, it was only because of a single sentence from Rosalind Taylor that Lilian had agreed to keep the matter secret and flee from there—
Rosalind Taylor had said to her, "Mr. Collins is investigating that incident and everyone who was around her at that time. Once he finds out that you were the one who brought my sister there, do you think you’ll have a good life?"
Upon hearing those words, Lilian had been utterly terrified.
Out of concern for her own child, she had left the Capitol overnight.
Afterward, she had altered her facial appearance with nose padding and changed her name, removing the "Qing" character.
She had done all of this just to avoid Tristan Collins’s search.
Unexpectedly, after hiding so well, she had been inadvertently exposed by Rosalind Taylor’s daughter!
"Tell me everything you know," Tristan commanded in a deep voice, his hawk-like eyes piercing through her.
Lilian shuddered, returning to her senses. She took a deep breath and said, "Mr. Collins, I’ve already told you everything I know. I don’t know anything else."
Bang!
A sudden, dull noise resounded as Tristan slammed his hand on the table in anger.
"Do you think you can still play tricks under my watch?!"
Seeing him so enraged, Lilian suddenly felt indignant on Joy Taylor’s behalf.
How did such a talented woman end up marrying a selfish, self-serving man like him?
"Mr. Collins, please calm down. I’ll tell you everything," she said calmly.
Today, she wanted to resolve the decade-long worry that had been harbored in her heart all at once.
Tristan’s glare was cold and harsh, as if he wanted to crush her to death.
Her eyes cold, Lilian looked back at him and slowly said, "Yes, it was indeed me who took Madam there back then. However, I was just an outsider at the time and didn’t have the status to enter. I have no knowledge of what happened inside."
Tristan stared blankly, then clenched his back teeth tightly. "Tell the truth!"
"This is my truth! I fled back then because I was afraid that you would commit an atrocity in your anger. I feared that I’d become a victim of your rich and powerful family’s disputes over love and hate! I escaped because I wanted to cherish my life, not because I knew any of your secrets!"
She stared directly into Tristan’s eyes, her gaze open and honest.
Tristan’s chest was filled with a sense of powerlessness, which mixed with his humiliation and unwillingness. The mingling feelings constantly tormented his masculine pride.
However, Lilian’s eyes showed no trace of evasion or impurity, not like those of someone who was lying.
According to the surveillance footage, Lilian had indeed not entered the room but had left after bringing the person there.

(Some comments say I’m whitewashing Tristan? I’m not, really! I’m just presenting the facts as they happened. Tristan really is a scumbag, an irredeemable one, in fact.)
