Chapter 291
She prepared the grilled meat by marinating it, skewering it, and letting it cook in the oven for five minutes.
A full tray of grilled meat, brushed with sauce and sprinkled with white sesame seeds, it smells delicious.
Thinking of a drink, she took out a bottled milk tea from the fridge, poured two cups, and served them.
Timmy Collins immediately came over to help her.
As her phone rang, she handed the tray to him.
The caller was Layla Lowell.
"Hey, Chloe, I’ve got some great news for you. Charles has changed his mind!"
"Really?" Chloe sat down, took the grilled meat Timmy handed her, and took a bite.
Hmm... it was a bit salty.
"Just now, he sent someone to tell me that he’s decided to take our case and will contact me later to discuss the details."
"Oh? That’s quite unexpected. It doesn’t sound like him."
From what she knew, Charles was very firm in his decisions when it came to business matters.
An elated Layla chattered, "Whatever the reason, he’s agreed, and I finally feel relieved. Let’s have dinner together tomorrow; my treat."
Chloe smiled, "Shouldn’t you be inviting him instead?"
"Both of you, both of you."
After ending the call, Chloe texted Charles to ask why he changed his mind.
He replied with six words, "I’m broke and need money."

On Friday, the results of the Chemistry Competition Preliminary Round were announced.
This time, the Competitive Class students were attending their classes, but they weren’t really concentrating.
Raine Nolan was one of them.
She kept being distracted.
In the Preliminary Round, there would be first, second, and third place winners. Many could win awards, but only five people could advance to the final round.
Only five people in the entire province/city could advance to the finals, and with so many participants from Capitol, each school had its own standout competitors. To secure a spot, the competition was extremely fierce.
Although there were many students in the Competitive Class, only a few held hope of reaching the finals, as the spots were limited. Most were aiming for the top provincial award, where around 50 to 80 students, depending on the cut-off score, received the opportunity for direct admission to university. If they failed, they could still earn an extra 20 points on the College Entrance Exam in June.
These were their goals.
But not Raine’s.
Her goal was to be among the top 20% and defeat Chloe Collins!
She spoke to Rosalind Taylor on the phone last night, and Rosalind had explicitly stated that if Raine successfully advanced to the finals, she could move back into the Collinses’ home.
As soon as class ended, the school’s loudspeaker suddenly came to life.
Raine’s heart pounded wildly, knowing what it meant.
She’d already heard the news last night that the school would announce the competition results today.
As was customary, the school would share any good news, celebrating achievements collectively.
Usually, they would praise the top ten students in the school before announcing who made it to the finals.
"Hello everyone, this is the school office. We have an exciting announcement. This year’s participation in the International Chemistry Olympiad was as enthusiastic as ever, with the number of participants reaching... "
Raine was growing more and more nervous, barely able to hear the words coming from the loudspeaker as the teacher continued to discuss the preliminary and qualifying round numbers.
Finally, she heard the number of award recipients...
