Chapter 26: Chapter 26 Did the school call?
Yvonne Frost pulled a face and said, "It’s Chloe Collins again, taking another leave of absence. It’s such a headache."
"Another one? Tsk, this kid is already struggling with her grades. How can she get into a key school if she doesn’t try harder? I heard she even got into a fight today. What happened?"
Yvonne’s sore spot was touched, so she didn’t say more and went to fetch water instead.
She had been a class teacher for many years and had always avoided any major complaints. However, this time, because of Chloe Collins, she was summoned to the principal’s office for an education meeting.
The thought of it made her feel unhappy!
Raine Nolan brought the whole class’s homework to the office and happened to overhear the conversation between the two teachers.
As soon as Yvonne left, Raine casually asked her own teacher, "Teacher, did Chloe Collins get into a fight? Is she injured?"
The female teacher flipped through the homework books and said, "She was the one hitting others. How could she get hurt? It’s Layla Lowell who got hit and was even sent to the hospital. I heard she even made her subject teacher cry."
Raine’s eyes rolled, "She’s so fierce. She doesn’t seem like such a rude girl."
The teacher sighed, "You can’t judge a book by its cover. I heard she was a problem student before transferring here. I don’t know how she got in. Ah, if only all the students in the school could be as well-behaved and studious as you."
Raine smiled faintly, her eyes filled with thoughts.
That afternoon, before she went back to the Collinses’, she went shopping and bought some pastries that Tristan Collins and his mother loved.
Those pastries were from a century-old store where it was difficult to line up, and almost everything was limited in quantity.
When she got home, Tristan was there. He saw the pastries she had brought and smiled, which was rare. He nodded.
Seeing this, Ruth Taylor leaned on her three-month pregnant belly and sat down, "Honey, Raine is the most sensible child. She knows what you and Mom love to eat and went to queue for it. She hasn’t even had a sip of water since she came back."
Tristan glanced at the servant beside them, "Why haven’t you prepared sugar water for Young Miss yet?"
The servant hurried away.
Raine pursed her lips, her eyes devoid of joy.
Ruth looked concerned, "Little Rain, what’s wrong? Are you unhappy about something?"
Raine shook her head, looking disheartened.
Tristan put down the pastries and asked her, "If you have something to say, just speak up. Don’t keep it bottled up, it’s not good for you."
Raine clenched her hands on her school uniform skirt and whispered, "Cousin got into a fight at school... I’m worried that she might have offended someone."
"A fight?!" Ruth feigned shock.
Tristan’s face darkened instantly.
"Dad, should we send someone to investigate Cousin’s recent situation? I’m really worried that she might be mingling with bad people."
Tristan stared with a straight face, and after a moment, he finally asked, "Has the school called us?"
Ruth replied, "No, it seems... the school doesn’t have our home phone number."
Tristan’s expression relaxed a little, but his tone was still unpleasant, "Useless girl, what else can she do besides fighting!"
"Dad, what happened to Sis?"
From the doorway, a childish male voice suddenly came through. An eight or nine-year-old boy dressed in camouflage walked in.
Tristan’s expression softened considerably, "Go wash your hands and then come over and eat the pastries your sister brought."
Ruth also stood up, smiling at the little boy, "Heng’er, how was your training today? Did you have fun?"
Theodore Collins ignored her and, holding his backpack, walked straight to Tristan, "Dad, what happened to Sis?"
