Chapter 197: Chapter 197: This Man is Really Petty
Chapter 197
Edna Higgins held her phone and lowered her head, saying, "I asked Chloe to come; things got too serious."
Chloe Collins looked her up and down, her eyes focused on her slightly red forehead, "What happened to your forehead?"
Layla Lowell replied, "Nothing, just because that guy was slow, he made me wait at the door for a long time without coming out to solve the problem. I thought I’d just barge in, and had a small accident."
As soon as her words fell, a few bodyguards behind her suddenly bowed in unison, respectfully shouting, "Master Carrington."
The man looked at Layla Lowell next to him with his still-drowsy eyes and his handsome face showed a hint of displeasure, "A girl, barging into a man’s bathroom, you have no restraint."
Layla Lowell frowned, "How would I know you were taking a shower? You asked me to go up to discuss things and didn’t say a word for a long time, leaving me hanging, thinking I was a dried fish or something?"
Charles Carrington didn’t have the time to argue with a young lady. His gaze slipped past her and looked at his car.
More than tragic!
Wait...just now, it seemed like he saw something familiar.
His lazy gaze moved back and focused on the beautiful, cold face of Chloe Collins.
In an instant, all the blood inside of him surged!
Staring at Chloe in surprise and confusion, he couldn’t say a single word for a long time.
The bustling street was occasionally filled with the sound of car horns, and the night breeze was slightly cold.
Charles Carrington slowly returned to his senses, and his eyes were filled with a shallow smile of old friends meeting.
"Long time no see, little girl," he said.
He glanced at Layla Lowell and others, "So it was your people. Since they are yours, I have to deal with it well."
There was a mischievous smile in his eyes.
Chloe knew that things were getting difficult.
Not only was Layla Lowell’s car smashing incident, but her entire ordeal was difficult.
Layla Lowell intentionally damaged private property, with serious consequences, and the amount of loss seemed to have certainly reached the criminal standard. If Charles Carrington insisted on pursuing it, besides the fines, she might even face detention or sentencing.
Moreover, the Lowells’ assets hadn’t been recovered, and Layla Lowell herself didn’t have much money at hand, not enough to pay, which would also affect her studies and life.
Layla Lowell and others were stunned, "You know each other?"
Chloe Collins stared at Charles Carrington, her voice slightly lowered, "Do you remember the lawyer I told you about? It’s him."
Layla Lowell’s face immediately changed a myriad of emotions as her clear eyes stared at Charles Carrington in astonishment, "You’re a lawyer?"
Charles Carrington snorted lightly from his nose, "It seems I was fortunate enough to be discussed by you two."
In this "fortunate," he was full of playful meaning.
Layla Lowell swallowed, her head moving closer to Chloe, whispering, "What’s his temper like?"
"Stingy."
Charles Carrington frowned, "Little girl, are you trying to ruin my reputation like this? Stingy? Heh, your understanding of me is still so one-sided."
Chloe slowly exhaled, "This is a misunderstanding. She was instigated by others and did not mean to cause harm. Let’s settle this privately, and put any compensation under my name."
Layla Lowell was surprised, "That’s not possible. I smashed the car, so I’m responsible for any payment due. Hurry up and have the insurance company take a look."
Charles Carrington laughed.
The black shirt made this laugh seem even more sinister.
"This car just arrived and has already met with such a disaster. Settling privately would let you off too easily."
Layla Lowell frowned and said under her breath to Chloe, "You’re right, he is indeed stingy."
