Chapter 1723: Final Chapter: The Grand Finale_8

A thin layer of snow had gathered on the ground, and the man left shallow footprints in his wake.

Ethel followed his footprints from behind, hopping from one to the next, closely tailing him.

"Milty."

"Hmm?"

"Can I always stay by your side and live with you?"

...

The robot made its way to the East wing with a faint smile, familiar with the route.

The servants greeted her politely as she passed, all assuming she was Chloe.

From a small garden nearby, two voices could be heard.

"Dad, I think you should wait a little longer, Mom doesn’t want to see you."

Theodore played with the flying robot that Alexander had given him, responding disinterestedly to Tristan beside him.

To win the child’s affection, Tristan, far from looking like an adult, was seated on the ground with his brows tightly knit, watching him seriously.

"Do you know, these past few days Chase has been hanging around your mother?"

"It’s not hanging around." Theodore released the robot to let it fly forward, then continued to reply to Tristan, "They just sit down and talk. Uncle Chase was apologizing to Mom. She’s very generous and understood it wasn’t intentional, so she forgave him."

"Forgave him?" Tristan stood up.

Theodore turned his head and saw his father with a dark face, then said, "Dad, that thing was Aunt’s fault alone, Uncle Chase didn’t do it on purpose."

"Are you stupid! If it wasn’t intentional, then how did they end up in bed together? Could it be that your aunt orchestrated everything behind the scenes?"

Up to now, Tristan still didn’t forgive Chase, nor was it likely he ever would.

Even though it wasn’t deliberate, to him, what had happened had happened and couldn’t be changed.

Theodore blinked, gave it some thought, and asked, "What does it mean to orchestrate everything?"

Tristan’s face turned red, then he said, "You’ll understand these things when you’re older. In any case, right now you have to be united with your dad. Don’t forget, your mom and I haven’t gone through divorce proceedings. Her death was faked, and legally, we are still husband and wife."

Theodore earnestly replied, "I think it’s best if you don’t bring up the past, Dad, otherwise, it will only remind Mom of your mistakes. After all, what happened with her and Uncle Chase wasn’t intentional, but what you did with Aunt was intentional."

Tristan’s face reddened again, and he found himself at a loss for words.

"Moreover, Uncle Chase is a good man. If Uncle Chase likes Mom, I think his chances are better than yours."

"I’ve looked into it, Uncle Chase has a clean private life. He had only one wife previously, which was an arranged marriage by their families. They divorced within a year, and he hasn’t remarried since, just focusing on his career. He seems like the type Mom would like."

Tristan frowned, "You little rascal, just who is your father?"

Theodore shrugged, "I side with reason, not relatives. My sister taught me that, so I listen to her."

Tristan sighed in resignation, "Well then, let’s not dwell on the past. Go help your dad drive that Chase guy away from your mom. Don’t let them meet, and say some nice things about me to your mom."

"I’ll think about it."

Tristan somewhat helpless, "Don’t you want your mom and dad to reconcile?"

"I do, but I want Mom to be happy more. I hate it the most when you two fight. With things as they are now, you’d surely argue if you got together."

Tristan was left without a response.

Their conversation gradually faded from the robot’s hearing, but soon, it picked up another sound.

Laughter.

Not far away, on a lawn covered by the university, Jameson was running with a kite, helping Cherry get it airborne.

Only truly sweet lovers would think to fly a kite in the snowy weather.

After running for a while, Jameson finally managed to send the kite soaring.

Cherry held the string, letting it out higher and higher, a smile breaking across her face.

"It’s finally up in the air."

Jameson ran over, reaching to help her.

She dodged his hand and said in a soft tone, "I can do it myself!"

"I’m worried about your hands getting cold."

"Not at all, it’s just a little cold." She feigned anger, giving him a sidelong glance.

In his moment of concern, she kissed him, and they both laughed.

Jameson said, "Have your family members discussed it and decided? When is our wedding going to be?"

Cherry raised an eyebrow, "I never said I’d marry you."

"Come on, Cherry, I’ve been thinking about this all night and couldn’t sleep."

Seeing his earnestness, Cherry stopped teasing him and said seriously, "Because my second brother and his wife’s wedding is at the end of next April, there’s only a little over four months left. If we’re going to have ours, it has to be either before or after that."
