She lowered her head, delicately appreciating the tubes that adorned Joy Taylor’s body, and then looked at her face.

This face was so much like Chloe Collins’s, only with different years upon it—lacking vitality and furthermore, haggard and pale, exceedingly weak.

She leaned down to Joy’s ear and whispered softly, "You shouldn’t be alive. Because of you, my mother suffers every day, living a life worse than death. Only with your death, can we all find relief."

As these words were spoken, Joy’s electrocardiogram showed her heart rate increasing.

Raine Nolan sneered: "It seems you heard what I said. Savor the last few minutes of your life because soon, I’ll send you to the heavens."

"Aunt, don’t blame me for being heartless. Don’t come after me when you’re dead. You wronged my mom first. Because of you, Tristan Collins abandoned her. Now she’s cooped up in a cramped apartment, living days as long as years, all thanks to you!

Heh, you must be thinking it’s my mom who wronged you, pah!"

She glared at her bitterly and said, "If it weren’t for your sordid affair with Chase Carrington, and birthing Chloe Collins making Tristan Collins the poor dupe, how would he have harbored such resentment? The machines continued to report Joy’s rising heart rate.

The researchers nearby watched in alarm, curious as to what exactly Raine was whispering into Joy’s ear.

Just then, a gust of wind rose before their eyes, and in the blink of an eye, they saw Raine Nolan with a swing of her hand, sever all the tubes at once!

"Ah! No, this can’t happen!" the researchers exclaimed in shock.

Raine Nolan scoffed, "It’s the leader’s order. Joy Taylor’s value has been exhausted, and to prevent future problems, she must be eliminated today!"

No sooner had she spoken than she gripped the dagger tightly, stabbing viciously toward Joy’s chest!

A sound of something piercing the air suddenly came from the doorway, and before anyone could turn to look, Raine’s dagger fell powerlessly from her hand, clattering onto the bed.

She, with eyes wide with terror and disbelief, slowly looked down at her own abdomen.

Three long arrows had pierced through her back, neatly aligned, dripping with blood at their tips.

She let out a hoarse cry, her body slumped heavily as she struggled to look back to see who was behind her.

Everyone was scared stiff and also turned to look toward the doorway, which was clearly closed, but now featured three neat little holes, through which the arrows had come!

The next second, the door was kicked open.

Two young women stepped in with steady strides, one of them distinctly pregnant.

Yet, it was the pregnant woman who wielded the bow and arrows, her eyebrows and eyes fierce and commanding.

The familiar features immediately made everyone turn to look at the bedridden Joy Taylor!

All were dumbstruck, unsure of how to react!

Raine Nolan pointed at her, attempting to curse her out, but instead spat out a mouthful of blood, then collapsed disgracefully to the ground, closing her eyes.

Chloe Collins walked forward coldly, and with a mere lift of her hand, Raine Nolan was sent flying to the side to clear the path.

Wanda Wesley went to the front to check and after a brief examination, said, "Madam’s fine. Let’s get her out of here first."

Chloe nodded and helped lift the person up.

She held Joy’s hand, feeling its chilling lifelessness.

"Mom, I’m here. You must hold on. Heng’er is still waiting for you."

After speaking, she put the person on Wanda Wesley’s back, intending to leave.

But she saw dozens of researchers blocking the way.

She casually glanced around and was startled: "So you’re all here!"

Wanda Wesley gasped: "Dad!"
