Chapter 1704
Chloe Collins remained silent for a long time, seemingly deep in thought.
Soon, she placed a medicine box on the table.
"There are a total of twelve, one per day, not a single day less."
Rosalind Taylor’s eyes lit up as she looked at the small, silver, frosted-texture box.
She opened it to find twelve small black pills inside.
"Is this really the antidote?"
"If you don’t trust it, you don’t have to take it."
Rosalind Taylor grasped the box tightly and quickly tucked the medicine into her bag.
"Show the guest out," Chloe said with a final word before rising to leave.
Rosalind Taylor did not ask her to stay; after all, she had said everything she needed to say.
After leaving the Foster’s place with the items, she texted Raine Nolan.
[I’ve taken care of the matter. Come out quickly; I have something good for you.]
An hour later, Raine Nolan returned to Rosalind Taylor’s apartment.
Rosalind Taylor was cooking when she heard some noise and came out to look.
She saw Raine Nolan dressed all in black, completely covered up.
"Why are you getting more careful, not showing any skin at all?"
"If I didn’t, everyone would be able to tell I’m one of the Mutated People. Ah, let’s not talk about that. What did you want me back here for?"
Remembering about the antidote, Rosalind became excited. "I’ve done the thing you asked me to do today, and by the way, I got the antidote for you. Take it quickly, one pill a day for twelve consecutive days, and you’ll be completely cured."
Raine Nolan took the palm-sized silver box that had some weight to it, opened it, and immediately smelled a very strong scent of medicine.
"Are you sure she would give you the antidote?"
Rosalind Taylor said as she brought out the dish, "You told me to report Joy Taylor’s location to her, and if I didn’t ask for something in return, she’d definitely suspect my intentions. Just happened to make the news, so I simply asked for the antidote."
"As to whether it’s real or fake, don’t you worry, I’ve already sent some for testing, and it’s not poisonous. Eat it with peace of mind."
She untied her apron. "Continuing on like this is no solution. No matter what the world becomes in the future, Mum wants you to become normal again. Do you understand?"
Raine Nolan set down the box of medicine. "I’m not taking it."
"Why not?" Rosalind Taylor was truly puzzled.
"Isn’t it obvious? If I take this, will I still have these abilities? If I were to see Joy Taylor, I wouldn’t be able to kill her, and thus I couldn’t take revenge for you."
Rosalind Taylor, frustrated, replied, "Silly child, revenge doesn’t have to be carried out by your own hands. If your body continues like this, it’s questionable whether you can survive."
Full of emotion, Raine Nolan asked, "Then... you don’t want me to take revenge for you?"
Rosalind Taylor snorted. "Joy Taylor must die, but you don’t need to dirty your hands. Valleys is intentionally releasing false information to her now, making her focus on the Southwest Military District. Once she heads there, she’ll be encircled by a military ambush waiting for her! She will not escape her fate.
Now you also know Joy Taylor’s exact location, so when the time comes, you can just send a few Mutated People to help you kill her. You are now Valleys’ left and right hand—if you make up a lie saying it was Valleys’ orders, they wouldn’t dare not believe it. In short, taking the antidote doesn’t conflict with killing Joy Taylor. Take it quickly."
With that, she took a pill from the box and stuffed it into her mouth, forcing her to swallow it.
Raine Nolan reluctantly swallowed it, frowning. "What a nasty thing!"
She almost spat it out.
"No matter how unpleasant, swallow it. This is the antidote."
After drinking a big glass of water, Raine Nolan managed to swallow it down.
Rosalind Taylor tucked the remaining pills into her pocket. "Keep these with you, take one every day."
