Chapter 1685
But this person was not patient like Milton White to teach her; he wouldn’t engage in a back-and-forth conversation with her, and it was already quite good that he wasn’t retorting.
Before long, she was pulled back into the other courtyard by him, where she was allowed to play on her own but not permitted to go out by herself.
Her heart burned with urgency, thinking about how Milty’s plan had been disrupted by this man before it could even be enacted, and she was extremely unwilling to let it go.
That night in bed, she tossed and turned, racking her brains, until finally, the string snapped, and she threw off the covers and got up.
She took off her Hearing Aid and, after listening carefully to the movements on Milton White’s side, she took out her phone to text Chloe Collins.
Halfway through composing the message, she deleted everything.
It was because she remembered Milton White’s earlier words—fearing that the phone was being monitored, she decided it was better to be cautious.
The reason she had not acted until now was because she worried that Milton White would blame her once he woke up.
She knew that now was not a good time to be honest with Chloe Collins: one misstep could ruin all of Milton White’s previous efforts at disguise.
But now, with the alter ego awakening, this person could very well destroy Milton White’s plan...
With this thought, she fell back into a dilemma.
Her eyes, full of confusion, looked out the window, unsure of what her next move should be.
...
The next morning at the Fosters’ residence.
It was breakfast time, and Evelyn Thompson came with a letter, handing it over to Chloe Collins: "Chlo-Chlo, it’s marked ’personal attention needed’, hurry and take a look."
Several people watched the letter in her hand, wondering who still used this method to contact others these days.
Chloe Collins opened the letter and quickly scanned dozens of lines.
"Whose letter is it?" Alexander Foster placed a peeled egg in her bowl.
Chloe Collins handed the letter to him and said, "Our previous guess was mostly correct, Senior deliberately used that method to make us notice the Vaccine issue, and he had always been pretending to be the alter ego. But just yesterday, the true alter ego woke up and took over everything."
By the time she finished speaking, Alexander Foster had already read the letter.
"This letter was brought here by that young girl."
The signature read, Ethel Collins.
Chloe Collins nodded: "She mentioned in the letter that she was going to tell us these things after my mother was rescued, to avoid suspicion. But now, with the alter ego’s return, she was worried the Valleys’ conspiracy would succeed, so she took this drastic measure."
Evelyn Thompson, taken aback, said, "I just asked the gatekeeper. They said the letter was delivered by a delivery person, not any young girl. You two should be careful, not to fall into their trap."
Alexander Foster calmly replied, "She must have been worried about being discovered and deliberately had it delivered by a delivery person."
"The letter says the Valleys have already planted many people on our side, to replace the Vaccine, and the time is set for the day after tomorrow."
Evelyn Thompson took the letter and looked at it, anxiously saying, "Oh dear, it says here that Milton White was in charge of all the affairs to do with replacing the Vaccine. With him here, he could prevent this from happening. But now it isn’t him, it’s another personality taking over... Won’t they act according to their plan the day after tomorrow?"
"Could our Vaccine have already been compromised? If we need to retest batch by batch, not only will it be time-consuming and laborious, but if we cannot deliver on time, how will we explain it to our superiors?"
"But if we don’t retest and one batch is found to have problems, everyone will think there’s an issue with our Vaccine, and who would dare to use it after that; the Company would suffer a massive blow!"
William Foster said with an angry expression, "Heartless and malicious, utterly inhumane!"
"There’s another piece of paper here." Chloe Collins suddenly discovered there was another letter stuck inside the envelope.
