Chapter 1670
Only then did Chloe Collins tell him, "A large troop is heading this way; they must be people from the Safe Zone escaping. Mutated People are chasing them; this place is no longer safe. Hurry, let’s go."
Upon hearing this, the people outside hastily boarded the vehicles.
Five cars, three horse-drawn carriages, and six horses quickly left the area. Three minutes after their departure, the location was engulfed by various ammunitions.
The convoy Chloe was part of was forced to a sudden stop after speeding for just over five minutes.
She didn’t ask because she could already hear the noises surrounding them.
Looking up, the vast plains, usually desolate, were now from all sides crowded with Mutated People closing in.
They were, with nowhere to escape.
The guards were panicking, but they encouraged each other, vowing to complete their mission of escorting them.
However, the terror of the overwhelming forces led their legs to uncontrollably tremble.
"Everyone get out of the vehicles." Alexander Foster suddenly ordered.
James Cunningham at first didn’t understand, but then he saw, from a distance, the approaching troops were actually armed with artillery, and their vehicles could likely become targets.
"Get out! Hurry!"
A group of people quickly left their vehicles, including the horse-drawn carriages.
Alexander Foster took hold of a horse and helped her onto it, then rode away from the cars.
The others followed suit, and not long after they had run some distance, a massive explosion sounded behind them.
Looking back, everyone felt fortunate they had left in time.
Before long, many others like them were driven to this place, gathering together.
Clearly, the Mutated People had won this battle.
The triumphant leader of the Mutated People stepped forward and told them to stop resisting and submit obediently.
Looking around, the local military forces were beaten down, faced with defeat, their strength sapped. Nonetheless, they still huddled together, protecting the civilians in their midst.
In the circle, the civilians’ sobs, cries of pain, and prayers mingled together at this moment.
The encircling troops of Mutated People sneered, looking at this scene as they contemplated how to celebrate that evening.
Just then, Chloe felt a rumbling force rapidly approaching from the side.
She grabbed Alexander Foster’s clothes, listened intently for a while, and said with conviction, "There’s a mounted troop speeding toward us from that direction."
After listening carefully, joy appeared in her eyes. "It’s Timmy Collins!"
Alexander Foster was puzzled. "Timmy Collins?"
"It has to be him." Chloe was certain as she looked towards the distant side, a proud smile already lifting the corners of her mouth.
She had only heard the sound made by the Chimpanzee and didn’t recognize it as Timmy Collins right away, but she trusted her instincts.
Before long, other people also sensed that rumbling force approaching, causing the ground itself to tremble.
"What is that?!" shouted the leader of the Mutated People.
A Mutated Person with bulging eyes looked from a distance, without using binoculars, and saw the scene in the distance, instantly yelling, "Chimpanzees! Loads and loads of black Chimpanzees!"
"And horses! Damn! Damn! Damn! It’s a bunch of Gorillas riding horses!"
He exploded with several swear words, indicating his shock.
Many people looked curiously, and soon they too saw the dark mass advancing, horses’ hooves stirring up dust several feet high, darkening the sky!
Such a powerful and majestic sight, even the Mutated Soldiers perched on the artillery vehicles were somewhat panicked.
The people present had never witnessed such a scene in real life before; nearly everyone was dumbstruck!
