Chapter 16: She Finds It Hard to Explain
Chapter 16: Chapter 16: She Finds It Hard to Explain
Chloe Collins, who had just reached the bottom of the stairs, fiddled with her ears. With her fair and pretty face, she looked speechless.
That damn deep voice, every single word penetrated her ears.
Strangely, it felt kind of itchy.
Who would have thought, this man was quite narcissistic.
She returned to her side and had just gone upstairs, when she ran into Evelyn Thompson, who was about to knock on her door.
"Aunt Evelyn."
Evelyn Thompson turned around and immediately flashed a joyful smile, "I made some late-night snacks for you. These are all the recipes I recently learned. Try them, and if anything’s not good, just tell me, and I will improve."
Evelyn Thompson’s genuine enthusiasm took Chloe Collins by surprise.
It made her feel a bit overwhelmed.
The two families of the East and West Wings gave her completely opposite feelings.
She accepted them, "Thank you, Aunt Evelyn."
"Don’t mention it. We are all one family. You don’t need to say thank you. Have a good rest after you finish, and go to school with Cain tomorrow. Don’t worry about anything else. You have Aunt Evelyn."
After Evelyn Thompson left, Chloe Collins was eyeing the late-night snacks without picking up her chopsticks.
Her peaceful eyes were filled with countless thoughts.
After a while, she ate a dumpling. The dessert was sweet, and she felt a unique, indescribable flavor that she hadn’t tasted before.
It made her feel very comfortable.
The next morning, seven o’clock.
Robert Foster was stuffed into the car by Evelyn Thompson.
"Go to school and study well. Don’t cause me any trouble. You’re in your senior year now, it’s time to study! Quincy, let’s go."
With a face full of sleepiness, Robert Foster squints and asks, "Mom, aren’t we going to wait for Chloe Collins?"
"She left half an hour ago. By the way, I have a task for you. Chlo-Chlo just transferred to this school and might feel uncomfortable. Can you take care of her? Do you understand?"
Robert Foster opened his eyes, "Buy me a car, and I’ll say yes."
"Let’s talk about it after you get into Capitol University. Quincy, let’s go."
With a face full of desolation, Robert Foster took out his cell phone and played games to relieve his depression.
Before long, Quincy suddenly stopped the car.
Robert Foster raised his head, "Why did you stop?"
"Young Master, look."
Outside the car, Raine Nolan was standing in front of their house. She was dressed in a school uniform, with bangs and a ponytail, looking very obedient.
Robert Foster lowered the car window; his fine face showed a hint of confusion. "Why are you here?"
Raine Nolan walked over, bit her lip, and said, "Cain, is my cousin here?"
"Your cousin?"
It took Robert Foster a moment to react, then he said lightly, "She left a while ago."
Raine Nolan bit her lip, "Ah? I brought breakfast here to eat with her, and then to go to school together."
"Didn’t she tell you that she went to school?" Robert Foster was confused.
Raine Nolan with an innocent expression: "I didn’t know. What should I do? The class is about to start. Is there anywhere nearby where I can hail a taxi?"
Robert Foster opened the car door, "Why hail a cab? Get in, I will give you a ride."
Raine Nolan’s eyes sparkled, and she smiled, "Thank you, Cain."
After getting in the car, Raine Nolan took a good look at the car’s interior.
"Cain, is this car... your elder brother’s?"
Robert Foster was playing a game and casually said, "No, my brother’s car doesn’t let just anyone ride."
Raine Nolan looked over, pondering something, and didn’t say another word.
Before long, they arrived at the front gate of Capitol University Affiliated High School.
Raine Nolan got out of the car with Robert Foster. After a few steps, Robert Foster stopped walking. He gestured with his chin in one direction, "Your cousin."
Looking at the direction he pointed at, Raine Nolan saw Chloe Collins riding a mountain bike into school. She was not wearing a school uniform but was wearing a black cap and denim pants and jacket. Her whole demeanor was cold and tough, like a boy.
Not a bit of girlish softness.
Nevertheless, due to her looks, she still attracted a lot of amazed gazes.
Raine Nolan bit her lip. Her gaze held a hint of darkness.
"Didn’t she leave a long time ago? Why is she only arriving at school now?" Robert Foster asked without thinking.
Raine Nolan pursed her lips and said, "Well... my cousin is quite a difficult person to describe."
Robert Foster: "Hmm?"
