Chapter 1576
Capitol, the Collinses’ residence.
An autobiographical video from Milton White had ignited an internal dispute within the economic Alliance, centered on the Whites, and it had been ongoing for a week already.
The Collinses and the Spences, both being members of the Alliance, were also affected.
At this moment, Mason Spence is at the Collinses, discussing the matter with Tristan Collins.
The autumn night, the Courtyard was dotted with fallen leaves, revealing a desolate scene.
The study room on the second floor was lit, with two people sitting side by side, engaged in casual conversation.
Mason Spence was in desolation: "Tristan, this matter is not to be taken lightly. I heard that many people in the Alliance are planning to abolish the position of Milton White as the successor and choose from other potential candidates."
However, Tristan didn’t take this seriously: "Don’t worry, among this group of young people, only Milton White can qualify. If we were to choose anybody else, it would be better to wait for the next batch to grow."
After he finished speaking, he flicked the ash off his fingers.
Mason Spence disagreed: "Oh Tristan, if you don’t investigate, you won’t know how heated they were arguing in the video!
Milton White’s outrageous act has angered them, they would definitely not support him anymore."
Tristan frowned: "This kid, why did he suddenly do such a thing?"
Mason Spence was also puzzled: "Exactly, such a basic mistake isn’t something anyone should make. Or is it ... someone forced him to do it? But who could that be?"
As the words dropped, his eyes turned, and his face lit up as he pointed at Tristan: "Tristan, could it actually be your... daughter?"
"Don’t talk nonsense." Tristan frowned.
"It could be possible, you know how obsessed Milton White is with her. If it was a beauty trap, and his heart softened..."
"Have you ever seen someone using their own kingdom to please a beautiful woman?" Tristan replied despondently.
Mason Spence smirked, half-jokingly: "It’s not unprecedented. Back in the days when you pursued Joy Taylor, wasn’t that an example? I remember, your father even gave you a beating for it."
Tristan had unconditionally given his shares in the Collinses to Joy Taylor, even when they were just in a relationship.
Tristan’s breathing slowed down, even his gaze darkened a bit.
Seeing this, Mason Spence knew to stop and quickly returned to the main topic: "So what do you think? I’d like to hear your thoughts."
Tristan inhaled deeply, stood up, took another breath, and then slowly said: "Since we initially decided to side with the Whites, we should stick with it to the bitter end. Withdrawing now would only put us in an awkward position."
Yet, Mason Spence was worried: "I think that, after this incident, the Alliance isn’t as steadfast as before. Even Gabriel Hill has a lot of complaints about the Whites. As you know, Gabriel Hill’s son, Grayson Hill, is the president of Corynthia. If there’s any scandal in his family, it will not be advantageous for his son’s career.
I think the Alliance won’t last long, we should consider our plan B."
He shifted his chair, and continued his analysis: "You see, almost all the companies’ stock prices in the Alliance have fallen due to this incident. The Fosters and the Carringtons would definitely not let go of such a great opportunity. If we cooperate with them at this time, in the future..."
"Nonsense!" Tristan chastised, "When we made our choice two years ago, it meant we could never cooperate with the Fosters again. You’re not ashamed of it, but I am!"
His face was sour, he didn’t even consider Mason Spence’s suggestion.
Mason Spence didn’t feel insulted: "Tristan, it’s just a suggestion, what to do next depends on you. Anyway, there are never any eternal enemies, why go against money? It is the priority to expand the family business. I know you hate Chase Carrington, but now the Carrington Enterprise belongs to Chloe Collins. You could look at it from a different perspective."
