Chapter 1566
She wasn’t aware of the man’s changing gaze and continued, "Yes, I don’t like him. He’s just a demon, wanting to possess Milty’s body. I really can’t stand him."
The man curled his lip, a sinister smile spread across his face, "Ethel, you aren’t behaving today."
A chill ran down Ethel’s spine, her body went numb.
She looked at the man next to her. Those warm and refined eyes were now filled with a sinister aura.
It was like he had become someone else!
And, only that ’person’ would call her Ethel.
Because the name "Ethel" would remind him of that woman, awakening the real Milton White.
The car was speeding up. She grew tense, not uttering a word.
He glanced at the destination displayed on the screen and chuckled, "So, you’re heading to this place. What for?"
Ethel clenched her seatbelt tightly and kept her silence.
They had intended to go to a neighborhood as there was a sick person there.
The patient had been bitten earlier in the day and out of fear, had secretly returned home instead of going to the hospital.
The reason he feared the hospital was that he believed going there meant certain death.
This virus needed time to spread through the body. If it was still in the latent phase, the patient wouldn’t feel anything out of the ordinary.
It, therefore, created a false impression in the patient that it wasn’t serious, persuading him further not to go to the hospital.
However, as soon as the virus spread throughout the body, infecting the heart and the brain, an outbreak was imminent!
Once the outbreak occurred, everyone around him would become his "prey".
They had followed the old man home in the morning and discussed the situation with his family. They had promised to take him to the hospital immediately.
But not long ago, the hospital called saying that they were not cooperating with them. Things were at a standstill and they needed help in resolving the issue.
Ethel didn’t dare to say this out loud.
She glanced at the man next to her, sitting with his lips sealed.
"Ethel, there is punishment for being naughty." He spoke slowly.
The car door suddenly opened.
Ethel suddenly remembered Milton’s words.
He had said this other personality liked subservient people and hated those who went against him.
As long as she complied with him, everything would be fine.
She forced herself to speak, "There’s a patient at the Starlight Community who refuses to go to the hospital. They requested our help."
The man sneered, "Asked for your help? So what? Have you become heroes? Or are you the police?"
His tone was filled with ridicule.
Enduring the discomfort, Ethel said, "Milty is a hero. He has saved many people!"
"Really?" The man’s eyes flashed with a certain casual yet gloomy amusement, "Saving people... So, he is so kind..."
Each word that he spoke made Ethel’s feet grow cold!
"That’s a good thing. You could join too. Let’s save people together. That would be nice."
He snickered without saying anything and speeded up the car.
Ethel wasn’t sure whether he had agreed or not. She tried to appease him and said, "I actually think you are a good person. If you save people, your charm will increase. Many young ladies will like you in the future."
The man’s lips twitched into a half-smile, saying nothing.
Ethel felt lost. She didn’t know what more to say.
Soon, the car entered the neighborhood.
No one was seen roaming around in the neighborhood, but there were people peering out of brightly lit windows in the high-rises.
They were probably there to watch the commotion.
The car made a right turn and immediately an ambulance appeared along with some medical staff.
