Chapter 1554: Chapter 1554: Developing Vaccine, Establishing a Rescue Team_1
Chapter 1554
She proceeded directly to the main point, "What discoveries have been made in the research and development work?"
Albert Green answered solemnly, "We have now confirmed that this new virus is a mutation of BDR, and we are actively developing a vaccine. Fortunately, we have many years of research to draw on.
Chlo-Chlo, you should possess immunity to the virus. Any BDR-related derivative viruses will have no effect on you, so you can rest easy."
After Albert’s words, Chloe Collins was much relieved. She thoughtfully recorded his explanation to be shown to Evelyn Thompson later.
She asked: "What about Wanda and her team?"
"Wanda’s case is trickier, but she should be fine. Over the two years since she was quarantined, whatever treatments she received had no effect. So, this new virus should pose her no harm, either.
Technically speaking, you both have already been ’mutated,’ which puts them outside BDR’s target range, so the virus won’t affect you guys."
Chloe nodded: "Regardless, thank you for your diligent research. Hopefully, we will make a breakthrough soon and develop a vaccine."
"Don’t worry. We have been studying the BDR for so many years. We have solved bigger problems than this. We’re not afraid of this small subordinate one. I have studied the vaccines and special medicines developed by the Whites. They are just palliatives, without treating the root cause. Their research is definitely not as mature as ours, haha..." He laughed genially.
Indeed, her team had been researching on how to combat the BDR for many years and had already achieved fruitful results in many directions. The current virus is merely a derivative of the BDR, so it is still within the remit of their research abilities.
Chloe felt relieved.
She hadn’t expected that her quest for self-preservation would eventually benefit society.
Joy Taylor must be happy to know this.
After ending the video call, she called Alexander Foster.
Alexander had been working overtime at the Fosters’ for the past few days, leaving early in the morning and returning late at night.
"Miss me?" the man asked spontaneously as the call was answered.
Resting comfortably against the chair, she casually remarked: "I want you to come home and cook for me."
Though it was a mere jest, the man took it seriously.
"Alright, I’ll be back soon. What do you feel like eating?"
She chuckled, "Never mind, Mom is already fixing something. I can smell it from here. I called you as I wanted to enquire if the arrangements for the donation have been set."
"It’s been arranged. I will send you the documents to review shortly."
His words, intermingled with incidental instructions to his secretary, suggested he was planning to leave work early.
She continued, "Apart from the donations, I also want to set up a Rescue Team."
"Rescue team?"
"Yes, I’ve been reading the news. The situations in Norville, Westvale, Bushville, Havensmouth, and Cheraton are quite serious. I want to dispatch a Rescue Team under the name of the Fosters and the Carrington Enterprise to assist the medical workers in each city."
"You don’t need to worry about it. I am already handling it. We can get it going by this afternoon."
Chloe laughed, "Why do you always know what I am thinking?"
"If I don’t even know what you’re thinking, how do I deserve to be your husband?"
Chloe looked at the bright sky outside her window. Her heart was filled with warmth.
Having him in her life was more than enough.
In less than half an hour, Alexander was back.
He even brought her favorite street food, which was quickly confiscated by her mother, Evelyn. She insisted that if Chloe wanted to eat street food, she would have the chef make it at home as it is more sanitary.
While they both agreed on the surface, as soon as they turned around, Alexander sneakily fed Chloe some candied hawthorn.
She enjoyed the hawthorn, but after a while, she frowned: "Not sour enough."
"Try this sour mango. It’s from that little shop you like."
