Chapter 1550

Upon hearing this, the room suddenly became ominously silent.

Ethel listened intently, but all remained quiet inside.

Just as she started worrying if something had happened to Milton, a sound finally emerged from within.

"That’s right, hahaha, I’ve told you long ago, you’re no match for me. Live in such torment, better to vanish. Why do you think God bestowed upon you dissociative identity disorder? It’s because your original persona was so useless that another soul was dispatched to inhabit your body. Otherwise, it would be a waste given to you."

Accompanied by the laughter of the Man in Black, Ethel’s eyes filled with sympathy.

She had only recently found out about Milty’s illness and felt empathetic towards him.

Having two "souls" in a single person must be incredibly painful.

She was curious if the Man in Black was threatening Milty with something. Otherwise, why would he say that earlier?

The Man in Black said, "those people can’t come back." Who were these people he referred to?

Just when she wanted to listen further, she heard a few heavy thumps.

It seemed that it was Milton who had hit the Man in Black.

Soon after, Milton came out.

She quickly hopped down.

"Milty!"

Milton looked terrible. He mounted his motorcycle and left.

Ethel sat on the back, feeling like her face and hair were about to be cut off by the fierce wind.

But she dare not speak, not wanting to provoke Milton.

Milton aimlessly rode around.

In the afternoon, she heard the conversation between Milton and Chloe Collins.

She felt deeply for Milton.

Although she was still young and inexperienced, she understood the pain of unrequited love.

Her parents once said that when two people in love are together, even thousands of miles apart it feels like sweet bliss.

But loving someone who doesn’t love you back is agony, every moment, every second, since the moment the affection began.

After a long while, Milton finally arrived home.

Deep in the night, with the chirping of the crickets coming from the grass bush.

Ethel followed behind him. Suddenly hearing voices inside, she said, "Milty, Master is back."

Milton stayed quiet.

Both of them stepped into the hall and ran into Hans White.

After just finishing a phone call, Hans turned around. Seeing Milton, his face clouded over immediately.

"Useless fool, why did you go find Valleys!"

Milton’s face was cold, completely devoid of his usual warmth, "The police have started investigating, are you really prepared to throw the Whites into ruin?"

"What do you know!"

Furious, Hans kicked off his shoe and threw it at Milton’s face.

The shoe hit Milton squarely on his cheek.

The others in the house watched the scene unfold, lowering their heads and evidently accustomed to such situations.

But Ethel couldn’t stand by and let it happen.

This father...he wasn’t behaving like a father should. Instead, he was treating his son like an enemy.

And so, when Hans threw his second shoe at Milton.

She performed a roundhouse kick, sending the shoe right back.

This provoked shock amongst everyone present.

Everyone looked at her as if she was treading on thin ice.

Hans glared at her menacingly.

Undeterred, she stood tall and took several steps forward, then addressed Hans, "Uncle, you shouldn’t treat Milty like this. He is your son, not your punching bag!"

Narrowing his eyes, Hans managed a cold laugh before asking her, "I’m disciplining my son, what business is it of yours, little girl?"

"I interfered because your method of discipline is improper. My parents have taught me that physical punishments are never the right way to teach children. They have never laid a hand on me. Furthermore, Milty is already grown up, you shouldn’t treat him like a child anymore."
