Chapter 1399: Chapter 1399: He Actually Didn’t Make the Top Two

Chapter 1399

After a long time, she leaned back, clutching her somewhat bloated stomach, wanting to rest for a bit. As she looked up, she realized the private room was empty.

Shifting her gaze, she found herself locking eyes with a man.

"Full yet?" he asked.

With a foggy look in her eyes and heavy signs of intoxication, she nodded sluggishly and mumbled, "I kind of want to throw up."

Her voice was so soft and innocent, sounding as if she’s let all of her defenses down.

Charles a bit puzzled, asked, "Is your stomach feeling uncomfortable?"

Layla Lowell sniffled a little and said, "I think I just ate too much."

The man sighed slightly, picked up the phone, and called for digestive tablets to be sent up.

"Lean back, don’t move around, and rest for a bit."

Layla Lowell, feeling sluggish, did as suggested and reclined back. Her lethargic gaze revealed signs of tiredness, "I still feel like throwing up."

"Who told you to eat so much?"

No sooner had he said this, his eyebrows knotted again.

It was him, he’d pushed for it.

He hadn’t been paying much attention earlier, only noticed that she was eating as if she hadn’t eaten in days, continually adding more to her bowl.

He looked at her helplessly and chuckled lightly, "Do you think you’re a little puppy?"

She seemed confused by his comment.

He said, "Only a little puppy would not understand if it’s full or not and would keep eating, just like you were."

She responded with a thoughtful "Oh," as if considering his words, then said: "So I’m a dog..."

Seeing her adorable confusion amused him. He couldn’t help the warmth surging within him, so he leaned down to gently kiss her face.

"Fishie, you’re still cute when you’re drunk."

He always knew that when she got drunk, she would become naive and easily fooled.

Layla blinked slowly, turning her gaze onto him.

The lights were dim, creating a slightly intoxicating atmosphere.

Her hand suddenly retrieved a pillow, quietly positioning it between them. It effectively shielded her mouth and nose, leaving only her innocent eyes visible.

Those eyes would occasionally glance over at him before promptly looking away.

Shyness.

Charles immediately thought of that word.

She was being shy.

It made him grin and look at her with completely new interest.

Then, he asked, "Fishie, who is your favorite man?"

"My daddy."

"Aside from your dad?"

"Mmm... my teacher."

Charles’ heart sunk a little.

He didn’t even make the top two.

"Do you know who I am?" he asked, suspecting that she was too drunk to recognize people.

"You’re a butterfly!" she giggled.

Charles was stunned by this title, "What, a butterfly?"

"Mhm, butterflies love to flirt with different flowers, just like you!"

A shadow flashed across his eyes.

But then the girl suddenly leaned into him, pouting slightly, "Why did you cheat on me?"

Charles looked serious and said softly, "I didn’t cheat."

"Yes, you did, I saw them, they were all holding onto your waist."

"That’s not cheating."

"That is cheating!"

She was suddenly agitated, breaking free from him and even punching him.

Charles felt a tingling sensation on his shoulder. He stared at her with deep-set eyes.

"Fishie, I like you. Did you hear that?"

She reacted a little, but she was still pouting.

"I was hesitant to get involved with someone so much younger than me, you were the first, and, you were also the first to dump me."

Layla’s eyes were misty as she looked at him, "You pushed me to it."

Charles felt a bit fatigued.

This conversation was all too familiar, taking them right back to their previous arguments.

He chose not to continue the discussion since he knew it wouldn’t resolve anything, and would only lead to more fights.
