Chapter 1386: Chapter 1386 Senior, Please don’t disappoint me_1

Chapter 1386

It happened over a decade ago, in The Great Mountain.

The rain was heavy enough to hurt. The three of them sought shelter from the rain in a cave.

As night fell, the rain continued to fall.

The constant patter of the rain kept him awake. He looked up to see that Eleven was holding a large banana leaf over Alexander Foster.

Then, thinking they were both asleep, she removed her helmet for some respite. Her hair was disheveled, strands sticking to her cheeks in an adorable fashion. Oblivious to her appearance, she held the banana leaf over Alexander with a focused determination, staring at his protective mask with a mix of curiosity and affection. She was smiling sweetly.

The image burned itself into his mind, occasionally surfacing to torment him.

His hand fell from the screen. He turned to Chloe Collins, "Eleven, do you know why I kept my identity from you?"

Chloe’s eyes flickered, she had an idea, but she couldn’t articulate it.

Milton White slowly spoke, "Because I knew, once I told you, you’d ask me about the boy I was with. You’d ask me how you could see him again. You admired him so much back then, Eleven. That was something I wasn’t pleased about."

A bitter smile crossed his face,"I was selfish, I wanted to keep you to myself."

Chloe’s eyes trembled slightly and she turned away, "Stop talking."

But Milton White continued, "Yet, despite my attempts to separate you two, fate kept bringing you together. Later I realized, it was me who brought you to him."

Chloe saw the remorse in his eyes. It was as if he’d been hiding it for years, and only now was revealing the truth to her.

His smile was even more bitter now, "When he was nineteen, he had to recover at the Harville Temple because Emma Foster damaged his eye. And the reason Emma hurt his eye, was me."

Chloe’s gaze tightened abruptly, "Why?"

But Milton White didn’t answer her question. Instead, he continued, "When you were sixteen and joined the Dark Alliance, it was because I sent people after you. You accidentally found refuge in the Dark Alliance, and thus, met him again. As soon as I found out, I rushed to find you. Yet, you chose to stay instead. I understood then that it was because of him. At that moment, I feared it might already be too late, but I refused to admit defeat."

"Later, just when I thought you had no more ties with him, you moved into his house. Before long, you told me you weren’t sure you wanted to take the Orlando University Exam. For him, you were discarding all of our plans.

At the Welcoming Party for New Students, you hid a message in the painting using the technique I taught you... ’Before our paths crossed, we had already smiled, our first meeting was a promise of a lifetime...’ It was then I knew, it was too late, it was all too late."

"But even your going off to the Fosters, in the end, I was involved. Ultimately, it was me who sent you to him..." he laughed quietly, his eyes filled with a maddening amusement.

A wave of unease swept over Chloe. Looking at him, her voice faltered,"Why did Emma hurt him because of you? Why did you send people after me? Why did I end up at the Fosters because of you?"

Milton White looked at her passionately and said without answering her questions, "Eleven, I love you. I want to marry you. I can’t give you to him, nor will I. Otherwise, I would completely lose my mind."

"Senior, don’t disappoint me." She backed away two steps.
